The front desk staff is always different. Today the woman who checked me in had such a strong accent I had trouble understanding her. Their number one concern is insurance. You cannot be seen without it. I needed to pay a $150 deposit since I had a high deductible plan and my appointment would "definitely cost more than that." Always a new policy each time I come. The front desk does not welcome patients by name. They won't do bloodwork in advance, but the lab is just upstairs and they do walk-ins, so it's convenient. The checkout desk person Unica is fun and friendly and always uses my name. Overall it meets my needs as long as my doc is there.

A few years ago they overcharged my insurance for some labs. Then my dr left the practice and I was not notified of her leaving. I went to portal to make an appt and her name wasn't on scheduling tool. Called and she had left 3 months prior. Then I chose a different dr in the practice. She was alright. Always had availability but as soon as she sat down she would set her phone timer so our visit would not go over allotted time. Her phone was right there the whole time between us and it was off putting but I figured it was procedure. Then I made an appt for my older teen son to have his first physical outside of a pediatricians office. I figured it would help him prepare for life as an adult getting physicals. The male dr I chose made us wait 20 mins in waiting room. We heard him discussing the patient before us quite loudly to the staff at the desk in the hall. Lots of details and he was practically shouting and saying he doesn't have time for the next physical which was my son. He was not composed nor did he introduce myself when he walked in. He was still annoyed. He didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I had asked him if he could fill out the sports physical forms that I brought while we were there. That's all he did was complete the sports form, handed them to me and said the visit was done and go get checked out. It was the shortest least examined physical I have ever seen. I told my son we would find him someone else by his next physical which we have in a different practice. Then a few weeks ago I started having a rash on my face. I thought I would start with my primary care first then see if she thought I should go to a dermatologist. I went in to schedule an appt online. Her name wasn't there. Went to website, name not there in staff list. Called them and sure enough, she is no longer working there. I am officially staying away from this practice and so is the rest of my family.

It's really important to build a trusting relationship with your PCP however after my recent annual physical, I realized this practice is all about money making. I just asked couple of questions about my general health during my physical, doctor literally spent less than 2 minutes talking about and I got a bill in the mail for my visit (even though annual physical was covered by insurance). I wish Dr had explained this to me during my visit so that I was informed about this and would've taken a decision if I wanted to pursue this or not. I understand business needs money to survive but the way this practice tries to milk you for money is really shady. I will not be going back. Stay away if you can.

If he thinks you are fat he will tell you so and discuss the reasons why being overweight is unhealthy. The same is true of other conditions as they relate to your control over your personal health. He likes to 'tell it like it is' but still has a very approachable bedside manner. He is kind and he smiles and discusses simple problems with ease. He also isn't afraid to differentiate between what can be fixed by medicine and what takes personal effort. The office itself is a bit tricky to find, it is the one straight ahead on the far left in the parking lot. All of the buildings kind of look alike. My only other complaint is that there is no actual place to line up inside the office to check in so that can also be confusing.

My pharmacy has sent in the request to refill 3 times - zero response from Preston Medical Associates. This has happened several times now. I called to request the refill. I have an appointment ~45 days away, but the staff is willing to provide only 30 days worth and demands I come in earlier than my appointment time. I have a newborn and a job. I can't just come in whenever I want. This has happened several times now. The lack of response, the incredibly impolite front desk, and terrible business practices can't make up for the otherwise good treatment I receive from Melynda Smith. My expectation is when the pharmacy request a refill, and they're not willing to refill it, they should have called me immediately to state why. Not leave me guessing for almost two weeks (with no medication mind you) just to ask me to come in for tests. 1 star. I need to find a new provider I believe.

Spent an entire hour with me, but the tests cost thousands of dollars and that does not include ongoing care. I paid $600 per quarter plus $150 for 90 days of compounded hormones for a year. First they wanted to cut a small slot to insert a pellet in my lower back, but I said no. We did cream roll on instead. I felt better on hormones, but to monitor them, had to take a spit test via snail mail only to discover they didn't have any enough of a sample. Then they wanted me to pay an extra $150 for bloodwork each time since the spit test didn't work. Felt like nickel and diming. They do not take insurance. When I had a side effect from the hormones they told me I needed to sign up for primary care in order for them to help me. Just doesn't make sense for them to receive so much money and then not help a patient in need. If you're someone with lots of different health issues, it might be good to get care from them, because they can review all the data together. They still refer you to specialists, which is a separate process with separate fees. An endocrinologist can prescribe and monitor hormone treatment. It's not rocket science. It wasn't a miracle drug. My skin still ages, elasticity declines, there is a risk of cancer if you don't take the right combo and don't start early enough, but mentally it's been good. Good doctors are out there. Most people don't need a concierge. After having one, I must say I'm not healthier, but it's nice to get more attention.

I go for HRT therapy, and I see the doc once every 3 months for an hour. Bloodwork is done each time, so we talk about dosage. Combos are done by compounding Rx. So it's 600 for a hr of doc time/bloodwork, plus cost of hormones. You can contact doc via portal and they will respond, which is nice, but if you have no issues, you may not need to go here. If you're a basket case, you'll get your money's worth. If I have a primary care issue, they'll tell me to sign up for that, which costs more. Why they don't have full-care for all issues is beyond me. I can only afford one, and I need hormones, so that's what I get. I still need a primary care provider for everything else. Make sure you find out which days docs are at your preferred office. You can get an in-depth full-health analysis for 2k, and it was worth it to find out I was healthy.
