AMI jukebox. Pretty good deal for music. 2 Credits per song.

I've been coming to Mackey's for about a year now. My mother-in-law lives in Wake Forest. I stopped in and enjoyed a burger and fries the first time. I came back for karaoke on Saturday nights, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very diverse and eclectic atmosphere. Mixed drinks are really good. Hard to find bartenders that came make an "Old Fashioned" properly. Not here. Stop in and at least give them a try. They are worth the stop. Try the burgers. You will not be disappointed! They have an "AMI" jukebox that can be controlled by downloading an app on your phone.

Try the blackened fish sandwich. Yum!!! Kiddos had the giant pretzel and some loaded fries off the bar menu and loved it.

    My kitchen sink flatbread.

Wife had the salmon and I had the "kitchen sink" which is a little of everything on a flatbread . Both were delicious, but I would probably get the salmon on our next visit. The kitchen sink was more food than I would normally eat. Pricing is reasonable, around $32 for both of us.

Date night with my husband was going well until "Fred" showed up. Fred's brother "George" met an unceremonious end when another patron at the bar noticed him crawling on the bar and the bar tender quickly squished "George". We had already eaten our food so we promptly paid left. Reenactments of the Crying Game shower scene ensued when we made it home, thankfully clean pajamas and whiskey and saved the date night. We are not asking for anything other than this issue be addressed to prevent the community from getting sick and hopefully it has not spread to the restaurants on either side of Mackey's.

Best "bar" in Wake Forest. Some of the best food in Wake County. Shoutout to the chef and the rest of the staff.

Literally waited an hour and a half for a grilled cheese and 2 burgers. For drinks, I'm sure it's fine. Don't come for the food.

The bar area (with plenty of tables for dining) was packed and looked cozy, but the main dining area is huge and had only a few tables in use. We questioned our restaurant choice, but decided to keep an open mind and give it a try. We are so glad we did! The food was really good. Nice presentation and clearly, whoever prepared it is truly passionate about their job. The portions are large, so expect leftovers. We ordered a fried shrimp appetizer (similar to bang bang shrimp) and a chicken quesadilla as starters. Each could have been a meal on its own and both were delicious. (It's typical bar food - but done well.) For our main dishes we ordered Shepherds Pie (server's recommendation and favorite menu item ), Northern Fish Fry (cod); and a simple cheeseburger with bacon.. everything was tasty, nicely prepared, and again...large portions. The Shepherds Pie came with fresh steamed veggies that were wonderful and a nice surprise. *Note that cod is the Northern Fish Fry- but they also offer a catfish version. The wine was 50% off both by the glass and bottle, I believe that is their typical Saturday drink special. They have a prime rib special on Saturdays as well that is supposedly delicious, and served only until they run out. There is an 8oz or 12oz option. The server was fantastic as well. She was very attentive, knew the menu, and clearly enjoys her job. What more can you ask for? Prices: Our total bill (before tip) was $127 which included a couple drinks from the bar for each of us. The dinners we ate ranged from $16-$20. The starters were a bit pricey (~$18 for the quesadillas) but again, it was meal size and truly delicious. If you are hungry for a burger or typical Irish bar food, then give this place a try. Hopefully you'll have an experience similar to ours! (Our server was home from college for the holidays, so hopefully the rest of the staff is equally attentive.)

The fish tacos were fantastic, the bourbon chicken was delicious, the wedge salad was simple but so good. Baked potato hit the spot and the lobster queso - wow. It's not a looker but it's a taster! Thank you to the Pickled Onion staff who selflessly worked on arguably the biggest holiday of the year and didn't let quality suffer. Really, really delicious meal!

It was served well done. When asked "how is everything" by the bartender/server as he rushed by I replied "it's okay" and he didn't break stride before moving on to the next table. - a different server came by after awhile and asked if we needed to go boxes. I declined and said the beef was overcooked. The server walked away. - a third person came over and said "I heard you were not satisfied with your meal". I explained that it was not served as advertised. He then asked "what would you like me to do about this"? I find this an odd question - no apology for the beef being over cooked, no offer to comp the item, he never introduced himself. - I chose not to answer the question. He then came back with the bill and let us know that he comped the over cooked sandwich (which included one side on the menu) but "only charged you for the side" Yes, my review is overly detailed and may come across as whiny. However, our party of four honestly felt like the staff didn't care if we were there or not. They also forgot my dining companion's grilled chicken on her grilled chicken Caesar. I honestly hope they improve and become part of the neighborhood but our family will not return. Ps - I really like pickled onions and didn't see anything on the menu served with pickled onions.

The food here was absolutely delicious! They gave us a little vegetable appetizer that was perfect... And tied us over until we got to the main course. We had a hot bowl Bibibop or something... I should've written it down. And we also had the dish in the lower right hand side of the menu that was made with sweet potato noodles... Both of them were absolutely incredible! The staff was very nice and patient and answered all our questions. My friend has a number of dietary restrictions and they 100% took care of us! We are so glad that we went and look forward to dining there again soon!

I am going to say that it must depend on what you get, and what she got was the Japangmyeon, and she said they were good. However, she's bought packaged noodles from Amazon and said they are just as good. I got the wing Bento box, and this was disappointing. I' m that strange person who doesn't want a HUGE wing, and these were HUGE. I also feel that they didn't have the crispness I expect, and the sauce wasn't as flavorful as I hoped. The salad with what I think is dressing they make, was tasty. The miso soup, tasty. Although I find it hilarious that Korean places serve miso soup, but again, I'm not Korean or Japanese, but I mean, miso soup is Japanese, right? The 2 fried dumplings, "spring roll", and my tempura sweet potato were a little oily and also lacked flavor. But I think I'm the problem. For me, what I like in Korean food is limited, kimchee, oh yeah; the fried wings/chicken, when done well, oh, heck yeah; the rice, I mean, you need it; and I like the lighter Japchae noodles, finding the others too heavy. I don't really like the national rice dish, Bibimbap, because, becasue like a burger, you have to know what you want on it, and I apparently don't know with Bibimbap. I'm not a huge lover of the pancake-type things, too chicken to try the soups, but give me the Japchae, GOOD fried chicken, and the bulgogi, etc., and I'm good. For us, the service was outstanding. Everyone was pleasant, we were immediately greeted, etc. Atmosphere, well, this place has been, I don't even know how many other places, but it's fine. Oh, I did enjoy the banchan, bonchon, whatever, but it was my daughter's first (and last) kimchee experience.
