My cousin absolutely loves this place. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't the best, and I'd have to give it a 3.5 stars at most. We started with fried pickles for the table, but to our surprise, they never arrived. My cousin ordered a chicken quesadilla, her husband had a burger, I ordered a burger as well, and my partner went with a deconstructed salad. While the food that eventually arrived was good, the wait was painfully long. By the time my cousins finished their meals, we still hadn't received ours. We ended up reorderin the pickles which only takes 2 mins to fry, regardless it was just a disappointing experience all around. The food's quality was decent, but the service and timing made it not worth the wait. Overall, it's a place with potential, but unfortunately, the service needs some improvement to match the quality of the food. read more

We have to give credit where credit is due- Pickled Onion is open on Christmas Day and delivered an amazing meal. The fish tacos were fantastic, the bourbon chicken was delicious, the wedge salad was simple but so good. Baked potato hit the spot and the lobster queso - wow. It's not a looker but it's a taster! The foods not nearly the same quality as it was when I first came here. My husband and I came in on Halloween for dinner and we got the smoked jalapeno poppers. They are really good! I did enjoy the fish and chips and the kids meals are decently sized. I have also ordered the burgers and they are so dry and lacking in flavor. It is really unfortunate. I think the appetizers are probably the best thing here. I also ordered a deep eddy lemon with sprite. This place does make a good drink! read more

Definitely the place to watch sports! We went to watch March madness around 5pm Saturday. No wait time for a table. Not only do they have several TV's to watch multiple games, the food is decent! Our waiter was friendly and attentive, even during the busy March madness. We ordered the honey Kolsch beer and it was cold and delicious. We ordered the crack fire, spinach dip, pickle chips and Buffalo chicken dip. My favorite was the spinach dip and jalapeño aka crack fire. I've never had a spinach dip with bacon and loved it. Restaurant was clean inside. My husband and I were visiting from out of state and came with our friends that live in NC. We came for beer, appetizers, and basketball! While I'd like to give the Pickled Onion a great review as a neighborhood sports bar, I can't. Here are the reasons: - I ordered the Chicago Beef, advertised as being served medium rare. It was served well done. When asked "how is everything" by the bartender/server as he rushed by I replied "it's okay" and he didn't break stride before moving on to the next table. - a different server came by after awhile and asked if we needed to go boxes. I declined and said the beef was overcooked. The server walked away. - a third person came over and said "I heard you were not satisfied with your meal". I explained that it was not served as advertised. He then asked "what would you like me to do about this"? I find this an odd question - no apology for the beef being over cooked, no offer to comp the item, he never introduced himself. - I chose not to answer the question. He then came back with the bill and let us know that he comped the over cooked sandwich (which included one side on the menu) but "only charged you for the side" Yes, my review is overly detailed and may come across as whiny. However, our party of four honestly felt like the staff didn't care if we were there or not. They also forgot my dining companion's grilled chicken on her grilled chicken Caesar. I honestly hope they improve and become part of the neighborhood but our family will not return. We have eaten here many times and the food and service have always been good...until our recent visit on 10/12/2025. As usual, the food was very good....however, I am not impressed by servers who think they can remember a table's order without writing it down. Anytime I get sever who chooses not to write the order down, there is almost always something wrong with the order. My daughter hates tomatoes. She specifically requested "NO TOMATOES on her salad. They were mixed in, so she didn't see them right away and only noticed when she bit into one. She tried to pick around them, but they were diced....so it was near impossible. I would have complained right away, but the server didn't come back to the table for about 10 minutes. I did notify him when he did come back, and the best he could do was "OH....Sorry!". On a side note....it is illegal for a business to charge the extra credit card fee when the customer is paying with a debit card (Google it....it's there in black and white). They did that too. Don't order any seafood. Not fresh frozen served hot on the outside soggy and warm in the center. Ordered the fish and chips. The shrimp frozen and over cooked. I asked if it is fresh or frozen. Managers response "We are not a seafood restaurant." I ask myself why are you serving seafood then? Please do yourself a favor and tell your friends not to eat there. They also tried to charge me for extra tarter sauce. No mention about an extra charge on the menu or the waitress. Also an extra charge using a credit card. I've been to The Pickled Onion twice now and I'm a fan. I'm pretty picky about pub fare but there are a few things why I rated them at 5 stars instead of 4 (it was a toss up but I'll explain). The Pickled Onion can get very busy so it's best to come when the crowd has left, because that's when you get top notch service. You seat yourself and at one of the booths or tall tables. It's very open and feels more like a sports bar than a pub. Tables are always clean and the menus are wiped between customers. The menu is small but mighty. My go-to are the Blue Chips to start. I've ordered the Pork Belly Smack which was phenomenal and this past visit, I ordered the Shrimp Platter and exchanged the fries for mashed potatoes and gravy. And let me say, those mashed potatoes were real! Some places use the powdered stuff but this was the real deal. Besides the Blue Chips being a favorite of mine, I have to say that The Pickled Onion has THE BEST coleslaw I have ever had!! This last visit, our waitress did something that immediately made this original 4 star review into a 5 (and if you read my reviews, you know what she did...). She gave me another soda cup before I finished my first! Right there, that earns 5 stars! Having excellent customer service, delicious Blue Chips, AND the best coleslaw? We are long time customers of the Cantilever location. I'm talking pre-Covid. LOVE all the staff there. Tonight we ordered wings and got 10 drummies. Buck, the manager, admitted he had a lot of tables order all flats and we got the leftovers. I asked for a comp and he said we got 10 wings and should be ok with it. My partner had the burger and because I am Keto chose the one menu item that I thought would fit the diet, Buffalo wings with medium sauce. My partner said the burger was excellent. The wings had good flavor but I should have gone hot and next time I would request extra crispy. If we are ever in the area again we certainly would consider going back. The food was fine, although half the table had their food for nearly 10 minutes before the other half (table for 4). But what earned this review is the level of careless disregard they had to a dangerous mistake made by our server. When we asked for drinks, my partner asked for diet Dr Pepper, as he is diabetic. The server said "no problem" and the evening went on. My partner drank 2-3 glasses when another server (or maybe manager? No idea) went by and offered a refill, he said "yes, please. Diet Dr Pepper." The man replied that he could get him regular Dr Pepper but they didn't carry diet. I stayed polite but asked him to check immediately because my partner is diabetic. The man asked what my partner wanted if they truly didn't have diet, and the answer was "Water " he came back by a bit later without a single word, set down a glass of water, and walked away without a word. I am beyond livid. To treat a customer that way when YOU are responsible for screwing up and causing a medical incident is reprehensible. No, I did not demand the manger or risk beingcalled a "Karen", but the utter disregard your staff showed for a customer who is now hyperglycemic and will be feeling miserable for the rest of the night speaks volumes. I come here when I want to eat some Fish & Chips and my husband loves their Pork Belly Smack (mac and cheese). We like this place because of the variety of foods that they have so when we have friends over we like taking them there since they have something for everyone. Their menu is pretty diverse, they basically have everything: burgers, wings, sandwiches, tacos, soups and salads, steak, meatloaf, pasta, brisket, and more. We always get the same thing but I would try the other items in the menu. It's a pub but it's nice and family friendly.
