I asked the stylist to tame it and we agreed to a spot about 3 inches, plus trim on the sides. I removed my glasses and said "I trust your judgement" which was a mistake. She worked on it and when she was done I put my glasses back on and my beard was less than an inch long. She said when she got to the spot we agreed to she thought it was still too wild so she kept trimming, without asking me. I didn't complain, because the damage was done and I thought it would grow back quickly, but a month later it's still much shorter than I want - and much shorter than we agreed to. If I can't trust a stylist while my glasses are off, I can't go back here.

I had a fairly important meeting this afternoon and was desperate for a trim, I went on Facebook and looked at Milton's neighborhood Facebook group "Milton Neighbors" and asked for recommendations for a barber shop nearby as I couldn't get an appointment where I have been going on such short notice. Almost every recommendation was for Smitty's. I came in around 3pm today, busy but plenty of room. The shop is clean and modern, the TVs are huge, and of course the barbers are awesome! Jake gave me the best haircut I've had since when I worked in Back Bay. Great fade, perfect trim on top all scissors, and a real neck shave with a straight razor! I didn't see any products on display in the front, I wish they did! I'd take their recommendations to the bank.

I've had cuts here over the past year from multiple barbers and I've never left disappointed. There were a few times that I had to wait despite having an appointment on weekend mornings. However, I understand it happens at times so I don't fault them for trying to keep up with the demand because maybe their clients show up late or they try to make sure their cuts are perfect instead of rushing people out. They prioritize the appointments so be sure to book on their site to make things easier, but they do take walk ins as well. The shop is newly renovated, clean, and has plenty of seating if you're waiting. The parking is easy with spots along the entire street even during the winter. I currently go to Rich primarily, but I've had cuts by Annie and Tiffany, who both gave me great cuts and Annie offered recommendations for my hairstyle. I've seen some cuts by the other barbers while waiting or during my cut and they seem to do a good job as well. Be sure to bring pictures if you're particular about your cut and it doesn't hurt to remind your barber even if you've been going to them for a while since they have so many clients and your "usual" can vary over time as in any barbershop. Rich actively encourages me to remind him of what I prefer and offers suggestions if I have any concerns about my hair. I highly recommend this shop if you're looking for a consistent quality cut for a good price.
