She was patient in understanding the hair-cut I needed, suggested some options to improve the preferred style and did a thorough clean haircut without rushing it!! My husband and I went to Milton Barbershop again today. It is truly fabulous. Kevin did our hair today. Like Big Gay Al and Jennifer, he is great. It was especially sweet to see how Kevin, a well muscled bodybuilder, was so kind and good with the haircut of a little boy who was clearly afraid. Kevin made the little boy laugh and the boy clearly had a great time. As usual, our haircuts were top-notch and the staff were fabulous. I would sit on those hard seats anyday! A great haircut for a great price! This place was highly recommended by friends and today I drove almost two hours to get there and it was worth every minute in traffic! The place is tinny, but nice and cozy, and I was promptly saluted by Donna when I walked in for my appointment, who also listened to all my requests and even took her time to look at some pictures I brought to show what kind of hair I wanted. She was right on and within minutes I had the haircut I wanted! Hot lather and razor shave on the back of the neck, like I've been looking for years! My whole life I searched for a barber who could master my thick hair, and these guys did it better than anybody. Kevin, in particular, gave the best cuts I've ever had, and I had many, many people say the same. Unfortunately, I recently moved out of the area, and wish I could've moved this place with me. I've been bouncing around places trying to find someone who can get my boys who have crazy cowlicks hair properly. After a couple of friends recommended Jen at Milton Barber Shop I thought I'd give it a try. She is wonderful with them and really takes her time. I had a really bad hair cut experience with my one son and was panicking when I was driving around only to find all these barbershops closed. I called milton barbershop and I believe it was Joanne who answered. She told me they closed in 5 min but she would wait for me. This is a good barber shop in Milton Centre. It's a little far from where I live and so always needed to drive. Parking, which is starting to become tight, is available on Adams and side streets. There is always a wait as it is busy. This is especially so on weekends, which is when I am usually free. I have had good haircuts here. I've primarily had Denise, and she is good. I've also had Kevin (I think--he's the only guy). It's cash only but there is a Bank of America ATM next door. Milton Barber Shop is definitely worth a try and I would definitely come back. For me the convenience factor (getting there and parking) is most important all things being equal. read more

I popped in without an appointment. I only waited 2-3 minutes before Jennifer was available. My first haircut there was a great success. Jennifer did a quick and perfect trim. There were tons of regulars who have been going for a very long time. Nice clean, comfortable place with parking on the street or in the Milton Market parking lot. Highly recommended. read more

I just wanted to write an update in regards to Milton Barber Shop. Right after my review, I received a call from the owner Al, he left a message on my voice mail. I returned his call promptly, and discussed my feelings, and how I arrived at my opinion. Al was a stand up guy, he came across as sincere and a very conscientious business owner. He offered me a free house haircut, which was quite a nice gesture. I want to reach out to the kid that cut my hair, and state that from what I heard from Al, that he is going to be quite a good barber. After reading all the great reviews and having family members recommend this business to my boyfriend, it's disappointing for him to show up on Saturday and have the door locked 45 minutes before closing time. They supposedly close at 1, as the business hours on the door says, but had their doors locked at 12:15. He finally had an employee answer the door for him, and they said they were closing early (doors were locked at 12:15) because they "had things to do." What you get at The Milton Barber Shop is a Newbury Street cut at a fraction of the cost and without the parking hassle. Al, the owner, spent many years honing his craft in Boston's Back Bay and has built a loyal following. Be prepared to wait on Saturdays when it's walk-ins only, so it's first come-first serve. Went to Milton Barber Shop and came away very happy. Got a cut from Sal and he was very friendly and listened to what I had to say about how I wanted my hair cut. MBS is by appointment only during the week (walk-ins on Saturdays, no appointments), which is good since you know you'll sit down right away and can predict how long you'll be in/out. You also don't feel as though your cut is going to be rushed since they book in 1/2 hour increments and a traditional haircut should be finished in much less time. As far as pricing goes, pretty standard $16 for a regular mens cut, $3 extra if you want a wash. Good deal in my opinion since I've spent more than that and come away disappointed at a lot of places. The shop was clean and bright, and right in East Milton. The shop is a little hard to find, but is just to the right of the Starbucks. I've been getting my hair cut in the North End for the past couple of years and I've officially made the switch to Milton Barber Shop and plan on making this my regular spot. read more

Wow. I have never had a good time getting a haircut before! Kevin did a great job as well cutting my hair. I've had some bad experiences before getting my hair cut (see past reviews of other places) but the Milton Barber Shop is a keeper. Al is absolutely hilarious. I will definitely be back again and again. Some things to note about this place: 1. Make an appointment during the week if you need your cut then. 2. Milton Barber Shop was recommended by someone I know who said to go to Al. Well apparently Al sold the shop to one of the women about a year ago. I went a few weeks ago on a Saturday and only waited 5 mins. By luck of the draw, I got Denise (she was available). Very pleasant and took her time. It came out a fair amount shorter than I wanted (took 4 weeks to grow back), but overall it was still a decent haircut. The price is still $16 which is good. I went there today to get a fade, was praying for a good haircut seeing that half the barbers around cannot fade really well they either leave lines on it never turns out the way i like it! WAS I SHOCKED! although i did not have an appointment sal was promptly at my service taking time out of his busy schedule to fit me in! great customer service satisfaction! not even the best part yet!
