The CPS allegations they threatened to file were created by flipping our concerns about the school back onto us; even if those allegations had been true, they still would not constitute child abuse. I'll be attaching the threatening document they sent so families can understand exactly what is going on. My review is based entirely on my firsthand experience. And based on that documentation, I want other families to know what we experienced here. Our son came home with a bad bruise on his back, yet we heard nothing from the school. When brought to their attention, the school said they documented, but they repeatedly refused to give us the incident report. This wasn't an isolated issue. When our son caught a virus the school had emailed about a week earlier, the owner later denied the presence of the virus -- despite us having the original message. We also discovered missed diaper changes in our son's log that led to a severe diaper rash. From my perspective, this daycare is more focused on protecting its image than being honest with parents or providing consistent care. Our daughter was painfully shy, and had a difficult time speaking with other kids, and wouldn't even consider talking to other adults. A COVID kid through and through. She is a November baby, so she couldn't go into school until she was almost four, as she is past the October 1 deadline. Lucky for us, St. Luke's offers a 2.5 year old program structured like preschool for kids that would normally have to wait an extra year. Since starting at the Little School our child has blossomed. She is playing with other kids, talking to adults, and her vocabulary has doubled. Her teacher is so thoughtful and considerate, and they are always doing fun activities. She's regularly doing and saying things I had no idea she knew how to do or say! She also loves it, and says "I wanna go to preschool" every morning when she wakes up. Even then he will do his before and after care at Primrose HR. We've been pleased all along. The school provides a well rounded curriculum that seems to start with the one year olds... that's what I want for my kids, exposure to math, language, art, science, music, etc. not a narrow curriculum focused on tech or any one area. Turnover is a problem at all daycares as far as I can tell and Primrose has had it's share but we have been lucky. My kids' teachers have been great! Ms. Sharon is adored and rightly so! She is amazing with both with the kids and the parents. Ms. Lisa is so tender and calming with my younger son and that's THE most important thing to me. I want a safe environment with loving care for my kids when I can't be there. Since a recent change of Directors the communication regarding staff changes and school events is much improved too. In addition to texts and letters regarding general school-wide info each child has a daily report which includes info on activities within each area of study, eating habits, bathroom habits, naps, customized notes to parents and photos of my kids having fun during the day. The teachers always have a story for me when I pick up my kids. It let's me know they are engaged with my children throughout the day. Childcare is an serious investment and I want the best. Home based daycare was a consideration since it is often cheaper. You can find some good providers especially prior teachers but waitlists are long and I worried about my young children getting lost with one caregiver and 10 children of varying ages. Also, if my kid's Primrose teacher is sick there's a fill in. It's much more reliable for working parents. Any small issues we have had over the years were quickly and kindly resolved with the administration. Primrose has been great for us. After the fourth bite, I stated this could not continue and that my child's safety comes first. Within an hour after talking to the teacher and administration in the morning, we received an email saying I was "rude and disrespectful" and our child was immediately terminated. Yes, they will say they communicated and followed protocol but repeated injuries, a missed incident, and lack of improvement tell a different story. My oldest son attended Northridge from 2nd through 6th grade, and his time there was marked by repeated incidents of bullying and racial discrimination. He was physically assaulted multiple times--on the school bus, in the hallways, and during recess. One of the most horrifying incidents involved another student beating him with my son's own 40oz Yeti bottle while hurling racial slurs. This was caught on camera and reported, yet the school failed to take meaningful action. Even during his final days at Northridge, the trauma continued. In May 2023, after receiving his yearbook, a student wrote the N-word in it. When I brought this to the principal's attention the last few weeks of school. On graduation day, I was told they were "sorry" but couldn't do anything because it was the end of the school year. That response was not only dismissive, it was unacceptable. Sadly, my younger child, who was in kindergarten that same year, also faced bullying. He was physically hurt when another student slammed his hand in the front door and was repeatedly cursed at and harassed during class, lunchtime and recess. Staff members were often disengaged, more focused on their phones than supervising the children. Again, the school failed to act, offering excuses and false claims that police had been involved, but none of which were true. Throughout our time at Northridge, incidents were brushed aside, and no real consequences were ever enforced. The emotional toll on my children has been significant, and the school's failure to protect them or take responsibility is beyond disappointing. I have other children, and I will never enroll them at Northridge. No family should have to endure what we did. Shame on this school for its negligence and lack of compassion.
