i cannot recommend this attorney and I regret that hired him. he did not take my case seriously and i was utterly unprepared for court. he seemed mainly concerned with trying to get evidence thrown out on technicalities rather than addressing them head on and dismissing them that way which could have actually been a effective and helpful. it was giving half-asses, lazy and "lowest hanging fruit" vibes. in place of a review id like to share the email i sent at the end of my time working with Thomas Maclean. I hired a lawyer because i have been dealing with this abuse and volatility from the complainant who brought this case against me for months and I knew i could not get the emotional detachment necessary to articulate myself clearly and effectively. i feel you did me a significant disservice in not spending any time at all prior to yesterday in clarifying how i should phrase and address things. this easily could have been done in a 20 min phone call and i believe could have made a difference. and could have led to a different outcome where i didnt feel peessured into making an agreement that gave me no sense of vindication or liberation from the cycle of abuse ive been subjected to. and i am left to pay a bill for a lawyer in a frivolous case that was brought against my by a known liar and meant only to embarrass and harm me emotionally. you fell short of your duties to genuinely prepare me for court. you had me believing the odd assumption that her evidence would be excluded. and since i have no context for this i took your word and expertise and was left woefully unprepared. since it has no consequence for you as you get paid either way, i guess the interest, motivation and duty simply was not there. read more

I thought about filing bankruptcy, and made the first payment. They are refusing to refund me my first payment because according to them I didn't make the second or third payment within 90 days. This is professionally wrong. I didn't sign any retainers or any documents. I would give it 0 stars but that's not an option. And on top of that the payments they requested was by Zelle. We recently had to deal with a restraining order case and chose Thomas Maclean to represent us. We are so glad we did! My husband and I have never been in this situation before and never had to deal with the courts before. Deciding it was time to get our lives back and stop the harassment we were being subjected to, we started the task of interviewing lawyers. They offer a free consultation and my husband and I came overly prepared with documents/evidence. Thomas took almost an hour with us and we never once felt rushed. He seemed knowledgeable, explained how everything would happen if we chose to move forward and offered us a reasonable flat rate for his services. We decided to move forward with Thomas and got the entire process started. It was easy to provide our documents for him to review and create our petition to the court. The way he laid out the matter on paper was to the point and easy for any judge to understand and we were granted a temporary restraining order until our court date. He must have answered our question of "we are going to get this order no problem right?" a dozen times. We were stressed. When our court date was approaching, Thomas had a 30+ minute zoom session with us to walk us through how the day will proceed and prepare with some scenarios of the ways things could go. He gave us pointers on how to address and respond to the judge. Most importantly, he made us feel confident that we would get our long term retraining order granted. The day of court, he stood by our side and represented us calmly and factually. We prevailed! It was a wild ride we never imagined we would have to deal with but Thomas came through for us. Could response times have been faster? Sure...but we always got a call or email back even though they were in the middle of moving offices on top of everything else. Lawyers schedules are unpredictable with lots of time spent physically in court. No dates were missed. Time seems to move different in stressful times and i never felt ignored or unheard. Terrible experience. Asked for documents I had already sent, didnt acknowledge when they received documents, slow to respond to emails or dont respond at all. The kicker to my experience: they included my leased vehicle in the bk when I specifically asked them not to. Experience was really sad. My wife recently was diagnosed with Cancer and the treatments drain her energy. I went to this LAWFIRM to get help and get guidance and when we arrived (Me, my wife and our 6 year), we walked to the front of the building. I called the office as the building has controlled access. The front office receptionist while watching us from the front window, asked us to walk to the back and enter via the back door. We walked to the back and they let us in the office. When I came into the office I said to the the receptionist you could see us at the front of the building and you made us walk to the back. No comment from the front receptionist. We waited shortly and she instructed us to sit in the conference room. David Chung came into the room and extended his hand to me only for a formal greeting. Did not greet my wife or son. I then introduced my wife and son to make the greeting proper. David then begin to verbally assault me by asking me If I was good, not once but over and over again. I explained to him we are very nervous as this is our first time in a law firm. He continued to ask me again if I was ok, mind you my wife and six year old are with me. I then said you have asked me this many times, lets move on and get down to the facts. After some more words he stood up and said I am not helping you. As we were leaving he held open the door and wished us luck. This should not be called a LAWFIRM it should be called a CLAW FIRM. After words my wife broke down and cried. Well, where do I begin. For starters, Thomas Maclean over charged me for phone calls and other work never provided. I went on vacation to Bali for two weeks and was unable to receive ANY phone calls during that time. However, to my surprise I found numerous charges of phone calls between his office and me charging me for phone calls that ranged from $150 per call to $300 per call. I was seeking joint custody of my two daughters one of the first questions he asked me was, "How much money do you make a year?" I should of took that as a huge red flag and walked away on the spot. However, being honest and fourth right I answered him honestly. However the guy ended up milking me for over $15k and provided no value. There were no positive changes in my custody case during his time on the case and his responsiveness ranged from not getting back to me for over two weeks, to calling me and wanting to "chit chat" about the case for almost an hour. When I realized these calls to "chit chat" were costing me over $300/hour I ensured they stop and were only reserved for relevant conversations on my case. During the time it transitioned to family court he even tried to get a referral fee out of me and wanted me to hire his buddy in dependency court. Initially I didn't understand why he was pushing so hard for me to hire his friend in dependency court then I found out lawyers give each other referral fees as "thank you's" when they're in non-competitive environments. I know nobody wants to hire a lawyer but it becomes necessary in times of crisis. Do yourself a favor, steer clear of this one. read more

I have been in touch with this attorney for many years with little success in my divorce. Although Mr. Maclean is well mannered, pleasant, and soft spoken to work with it. My ex got away with doing many unlawful things during the divorce period to where he should have been sanctioned with the court. Mr. Maclean did not try very hard to fight back in terms of financial and child visitation. I guess my anxiety and depression got in the way of showing the judge I was capable and had strong arguments about how my ex treated me in the course of my marriage and his lack of child rearing. Well I went to this guy because I needed legal advice. he was very helpful but i totally think he ripped me off. Oh well. he got my legal case started. Charged me $500 to start it. Then an additional $70 dollars i believe for a 5 minute conversation we had after we had regarding missing paperwork he left out when he filed the paper work. WOW! lol. Chung was my attorney, and Aida was the person who I worked with during court. Aida was a very helpful person, and Chung was very knowledgeable. I can't say I talked to them a lot, but they have a lot of clients and when I did need to ask them something I got a return call or an immediate answer.
