We needed independent advice for a case where we were already represented by an insurance attorney. High school friend recommended the firm. They will charge you. A lot without disclosing the cost. The man on the phone was rude and belittled me. He explained the pricing to me, I said that works for me. He then told me that they were "very expensive" and he "doesn't see how I could pay for the services given my eviction case was due to non payment." He didn't ask any other follow up questions. Then told me that they wouldn't have availability and that I should call someone else (I never gave him a time frame). Very unprofessional. Would recommend training your customer facing staff on proper phone etiquette. Especially being that you're a law firm, you should know that there are many factors that go into these cases and that just because a tenant is facing a nonpayment eviction, doesn't mean they don't have the money. Option wasn't left up to me but would never do business with them after this experience. read more

Wow I'm still in shock after getting off this call a little while ago. I called for a consult and the man taking the intake was extremely rude and disrespectful. He would ask me a question and while I'm answering he was taking notes aloud. Then while I was speaking would write down/repeat what I'm saying incorrectly. So I was trying to correct him so he could give the attorney accurate information and he yelled at me very loud saying stop and LET ME FINISH WRITING MY SENTENCE!!! I just got quiet. He said sorry for yelling but I need to write my sentence and you wouldn't stop talking. Ummmm I'm at this point quiet and thinking to myself sir, you asked me questions and I'm answering and politely correcting your misinformation/notes you were taking because you were too busy speaking instead of actively listening. What's interesting is I worked as a legal assistant and so I know what the intake process is. None of that included being extremely disrespectful to potential clients or anyone that called in or walked into our office. When someone is reaching out for an attorney it's because they really need help and have gone through something they feel they are unable to accomplish on their own. No matter their story you should treat everyone with kindness because you one day could be in the same situation and compassion and kindness goes a long way. read more

I am a member of Legal Shield, who referred me to 3 attorneys (only allowed one at a time) who wanted to be on their  referral list, but none of them called me back.  So I, being Yelp Eliter, went to Yelp and put in Real Estate Attorneys, and arranged the sort to "Highest Rated First".  I put in request for free consultation.  Shenon Law in Encino responded almost immediately, being Mark, the client intake manager who told me Ms Natela Shenon found my issue very interesting, but she only does transactional work, not litigation.  Shenon Law had just merged Alpert Barr & Grant.   Next thing I know, Mark made arrangement for me to speak to Adam Grant. ON A SATURDAY, too.  I was already impressed!  When I looked at Alpert, Barr & Grant on Yelp, I see most of the all solid 5 star reviews are about Adam Grant.  Make sure you go to the "Not Recommended Reviews" link near the bottom of the page, there's more 5 star reviews there. Mr. Grant not only agreed to read my 4 page detailed write up about my case, BEFORE WE TALKED ON THE PHONE,  which no other attorney, had the "patience" and willingness to take the time to read the 4 pages, which to me, saves a lot of time.  I told Mark, if he reads that, then we can get right to talking about what he can do for me.  Mark agreed.   Here is another thing about Mr. Grant.  Other attorneys do not want you to have their email addresses or their personal phone numbers, unless you become their client.  But Mr. Grant gave me both.   Other attorneys wouldn't even give me a chance to speak to explain my issues, and they are already cutting me off, making me so nervous and flustered.   No other attorney asked to see the actual contracts involved in my case, because they just want to know enough to see if your case will make money for them, in as little time as possible, because time is money.   But Mr. Grant looked at both contracts.  He told me (not good news) that both contracts have arbitration clauses and "limited liability", said about one I have to find a Texas attorney, because he researched that the company is based in TX so any claim is has to be under Texas law.  And the other contract, I should be able to sue in small claims court, in a different jurisdiction for the $10,000 (my loss amount), because that is the limit now. I lost so much sleep over my legal issue, my blood sugar is higher, I had to ask my PCP for sleeping pills to keep me from "ruminating" in the wee hours, My 30 min consult with Mr. Grant gave me some relief and direction, even though his news was not as favorable (arbitration only and limited liability, cannot be held responsible for consequential damages, etc.) for me about my chances than what I thought before I talked to him, at least I got pointed in a direction.  I felt a weight lifted that I had been carrying around, because I didn't know what to do, and got so much conflicting legal opinions, YES from other attorneys, telling me they strongly do not agree with what some other attorneys told me, I just got so confused.  ONLY Mr. Grant seemed to know what he is talking about because for one thing, the other attorneys REFUSED  to take the time to read my detailed account and examine the contracts, because time is money. We spent half an hour on the phone, plus the time he took to read my 4 pages, of what happened, before we talked, and the time he took to read the contracts, and more time to research the company I wanted to sue, I am sure Mr. Grant spent over an hour.  And when he discovered this is not a case that he could help me on due to not having a TX license, he still continued to advise me, give me direction, and "be there for me".   "Happy to help", he says. read more
