When you do eventually reach a worker they inevitably are ill-prepared to handle your request. I always seem to find the worker that is "in-training". Makes me wonder what they do with all the employees they have trained over the last few years. Don't even get me started on the number of signs hanging around the office telling customers that cell phones are not welcome. Guess what ladies, if you want my insurance card you are getting it via my cell phone. Get over it... Setting the level of incompetence aside there is the issue of the working hours. The office is only open from 8-4. When exactly are those of us that work for a living supposed to come up to get our vehicle plates or amend vehicle titles? This tax-assessor has managed to destroy any semblance of customer service. It is my sincere hope that she is replaced soon and this office can be brought into the 21st century.

Mgmt needs to step in and evaluate so folks don't miss their flights. The TSA employees blame plane scheduling. Whatever the issue is it needs to be resolved. If it is plane scheduling then at least allow the folks in line the ability to jump ahead.

The line is not long. Usually takes about 15 mins. On Oct. 30,14 I was walking to the airport and had my jacket hanging from my backpack. I went in got my ticket and went into TSA security check point. Seemed normal. I was a bit in a hurry thinking I was running late. I was wrong. I was on time. But went through and came out the other side. But my jacket didn't. I asked if might have gotten stuck. And I was told no. They looked around the TSA check point but couldn't find it. He told me to get with Lost and Found when I got back. I got to my gate and we had 10 mins before we boarded. So I went back to where I got my ticket and where i came in the door. I had no luck. I got back in line and made it on time for my flight. They asked if I had found it . I told them no luck. They told me that they would call it in and to check when I landed. They sounded concern. It's a North Face Jacket. I could buy another one. But didn't want to. I made my flight and didn't think about it again. When I got back 5 days later. I had forgotten all about it . I remembered the next day on the way home from work. I called them and they told me that they had it. I was shocked. An officer had found it and picked it up. They had reported it to lost and found. I didn't catch the TSA employee who tried to put me at ease about it. But I'm thankful for trying and for letting them know. I had no problem getting it back. These men and women who work here are always trying to help out. Even just to get us through the line. I love this Airport. and this checkpoint.

The Chris Kyle Memorial is a beacon of Kyle's desire to give back to our nation's military members. It lies outside of Odessa, Texas, the dusty oilfield town where he was born. While I appreciate its existence, I do have a few qualms... This area would be even more peaceful if there were shrubs and trees blocking the Highway 191 hubbub. To the folks this may pertain to: Please maintain this memorial better. A slab had fallen as of Good Friday 2024 when I visited. Also, I realize the wind was blowing as it normally does here, but there shouldn't have been any trash lying around anywhere. Perhaps some additional drought tolerant plants would really make his statue stand out. Next to the VA Permian Basin Outpatient Clinic, the memorial has minimal free parking spots. Take some time to read Kyle's quotes about veterans on the sidewalk and the walls of the memorial. Today, April 8, was the day of his birth back in 1974. Happy birthday to the late SEAL & thank you for your service!

If you enjoy weird sights, the World's Largest Jackrabbit statue is a fun bookmark in Odessa, TX…read more You could easily drive by it and not know it. It doesn't stand out. The statue itself is grey with a gold medallion and a red/white/blue ribbon around its neck. It tends to blend in with its surroundings especially on a day like we visited (3/29/2024). There are a couple of signs on either side of it with interesting history pertaining to Odessa & the hare organism. There was ample, free parking. If you have time, walk a short distance to the "P.I.F" (Pay It Forward) sculpture. The artistic messages will put inspiration in your heart. PS - Jackalopes are in the same category as dragons, unicorns, and mermaids... as much as I wish they were reality they are very much non-existent. It doesn't matter that they are Odessa's local hockey team mascot. So when someone not from Texas tells me they "saw a jackalope in the pasture the other day" (and sadly this has happened more than once), I'm automatically putting you on the crazy list.

Luckily, I was able to on a work trip since it was a very short walk there from my hotel. On the outside, it looks very large with beautiful decorations and paintings all around the building. When you walk in, it's a bit underwhelming. It feels like a stale business office. The book selection is actually pretty decent although I was disappointed in their oil and gas book selection given that Midland/Odessa is THE oil town of America. I would say the highlights of this library is that they have 2 gaming stations with games for PlayStation, Wii, Switch, and Xbox, and they have plenty of computers. I would recommend this library for residents of Midland but people visiting will probably find it underwhelming with its offerings.

Some are not organized according to author and instead shelved by the name of the series or book. As an example, let's use J K Rowling, if the library has four different series of hers they will not all be in on location but will instead be spread out on different shelves according to their title. This is the oddest thing I've ever seen and very frustrating when any other library you've been to utilizes the dewy decimal system and shelves books according to the authors name so they are all nicely located on one shelf location. The centennial library is much friendly but the same odd shelving is happening over there too.
