Terrible company to work for. Employees actively haze new workers. The training is non-existent…read more Employees steal from new hires. Most workers show up smelling like weed, including foremen. I had several supervisors ask where to buy illegal drugs. The starting pay is well below average at 13.50 an hour for skilled labor and it takes forever to get raises, controlled by the Labor Union. Health benefits exclude dental. No paid holidays, no vacation benefits. Hardly any benefits at all. The health insurance is out of state and hard to use. No sick days or personal days either - this is crazy since the job is very dangerous, very strenuous and requires working in extreme temperatures and conditions with dangerous and deadly materials. I worked there 8 months and during that time was discriminated against often. I have a visible genetic disorder that others see as a handicap. In my second week I was assaulted by another employee - the company did nothing (some may say the aggressor was rewarded. He continued to mock me behind my back. No one stood up against that kind of workplace behavior.) Employees mocked me, picked fights with me, talked behind my back, and set me up to fail. Supervisors refused to train and I was forced to figure out everything myself. Although supervisors sometimes trained and answered questions when asked, they often gave misinformation (expecting new employees to find answers themselves is poor support). Supervisors act with a privileged attitude that doesn't even understand its own privilege. They often act without integrity or responsibility. They make up excuses and push blame to others. I often witnessed them perform carelessly and dangerously. I was asked to train new hires myself after 3 months. New hires often quit after a few months. Many of them told me reasons I have listed here. Only 4 out of 15 new hires this year are still with Forman Ford - it's a revolving door. The company (and industry) has trouble keeping people and filling in the ranks. The system is set up like a labor scam. There is virtually no communication about the advancement system set up by the union. If there was, most people would realize quickly that Ford Forman is gaming the system against their new hires, most of whom are struggling to get by on the 13.50 wage while getting treated like scum. Supervisors are constantly complaining about everything, often about labor shortage and disorganization- yet they refuse to take personal responsibility for their poor attitudes, bad behavior, inept and disorganized leadership. (I do take responsibility for my similar behavior) Supervisors are unproductive, overreactive, and sometimes incompetent. Workers are forced to waste much time cleaning up their supervisors mistakes. I wasted 9 months with Forman Ford. In the end, they fired me for tardiness. Specifically for being a few minutes late one day after losing 2 days (uncompensated) to the flu which I got from a lazy, insecure pot-smoking foreman who constantly complained - who I got stuck with on his very first foreman job. I argued with him. I am an excellent worker. Despite the massive amount of efficiency and integrity I brought to the company, they need excuses to lay off in the slow season and make excuses to seem like they are in control, instead of modeling truth and acceptance. I am a college educated skilled tradesman with a subtle handicap who gets marginalized by people who don't realize how they are doing it or why. I do have to work very hard to overcome my handicap, and I have much pain tolerance. I am very tolerant, in many ways. I am very capable because I have learned to adapt and produce excellence - almost to overcompensate. Overcoming adversity is admirable, rewardable. Society goes through phases where they abuse and denigrate margin populations and excuse themselves by accusing the victims. If only "normal" people were aware. There are rules and laws for the workplace that are intended to prevent this. Forman Ford failed. Forman Ford was in no way victimized by me. They allowed, supported and rewarded those who victimized me. They refused to model and counsel professionalism and integrity. They benefitted greatly from my work and punished me for standing up for myself. Then in the end, a supervisor who I once respected, fabricated a lie that everyone knew was a lie. That's a company and people without integrity, making up excuses to validate their unchecked abuse of a handicapped man who is every bit as capable as their "normal" employees. That is hard for "normal" people to deal with - to be treated equal to someone their subconscious brain is telling them is inferior. It digs at their self-esteem. Not my problem. I am not my handicap. To hell with a company and people that has no respect or integrity. Kudos to anyone who got through this. Sorry to anyone who has to deal with similar stuff. Fire this discriminatory company. Hire better.

Simply because the way they operate, the attention to detail, and constant updates by mail and email made this situation a million times easier for me. Michael was always available for phone calls and any other questions by email which I truly appreciated. He was thorough in my case, and gave me the confidence to attack this situation head on.
