Today is my son's 13th birthday and he wanted to get his haircut, so we gave Rooster's another shot. I hesitate to make such a negative review, but this was a truly ugly cut. So uneven, bangs cut to a point in the middle between his eyebrows, his face was totally covered in hair-there was no brush off or anything. We were both very disappointed. $32 for something that I could have stayed home and hacked at his hair with kitchen scissors and done just as well if not better. I'm sad to say that we won't be back.

Mac's barber shop is the BEST barber shop in Tennessee, and I do not say that lightly. Doug cut my hair for over eight years in a row, and never once did I ever walk out of that store disatisfied with how the top of my head looked (the only reason he doesn't cut my hair now is because I moved about two hours away--- but make no mistake, I still take trips to Karns frequently just to get my hair cut by him (no joke!!)). Customer service is most definitely a 10/10, and quality of work is even better. The other barbers there are absolutely wonderful, and if you can't get Doug to cut your hair, the others are nothing short of just as good. To put it simply, Doug is the master barber of this region of America, and his fellow barbers are his "students who have become the teachers". If you are a man who wants an affordable haircut that looks like it cost $2,000, this is the place to go. You will never want to go to another barber again. read more

Mac's is a great local barber shop named in honor of the owner's father. I personally always have the owner Doug cut my hair because I am a creature of habit. There are a couple of other talented barbers that work there. Mac's rates are probably the best around and I have never been unhappy with my haircut. They seem very good with children as well. Everyone is always friendly and the shop is decorated with toys, games, and memorabilia from around the early 1980's. The shop is always clean and tidy. I would recommend Mac's to anyone looking for a traditional barber shop. read more

Doug and his crew are the epitome of true barbers. The shop is a blast from the past; clean, welcoming, and a great experience. I am always glad to recommend Mac's anytime someone comments on my hair and/or asks who does it. I've had several friends who now go there and take their sons there as well. Unlike a lot of barbershops today, you don't have to worry about inappropriate conversations or foul language. read more

Since I was a child I have always gone to a barber shop for a haircut. So, when I moved my family out to East Tennessee I began looking for a barber shop where my boys and I could go. Fortunately for us, Mac's opened up very close to where we live. We have been going there ever since. My boys and I have enjoyed talking sports current events with Mac. Since my son and I moved from California in June we wanted to find a old school Barber shop like back home and we definitely found it. With every haircut we had and every visit especially with having a picky Teenager about his hair we definitely love Mac's Babershop. The gentlemen are professional tradesman of the craft. Love the haircuts, friendly chats and the overall banter amongst them and fellow patrons. When I see television shows depicting barber shops this that place. This is not Great Clips, Super Cuts or some other chain type "whack a cut" assembly line. They take their time and strive to make each patron look great and leave satisfied. This barbers take the time to get to know you and greet you like family once you come a few times.
