Doug the Master Barber and the owner of the shop is my go to barber. He is the only barber who I've had who can cut my hair perfectly with a high fade and offers hot shaves! He is always nice and creates great conversations! I've never came into this uncomfortable and I've seen him cut kids hair too and he's always making the kids smile and laugh! They'll give your neck a hot shave along with a hot towel after the haircut. I've had my hair cut by Ian and Doug and they're both great barbers. Great guys, relaxed, pleasant atmosphere and clean shop. Had a solid men's haircut for $15. My barber gave great tips for things to do and explore in the area. The complimentary straight razor shave of the back of the neck with hot shaving cream following by hot towel wipe at the end was glorious. If you want a quality haircut cut every time for a very reasonable price, then Mac's is the place. If you are a senior, military, fireman, policeman, first responder, etc, you get a great discount! I can only speak for the barber that cuts my hair AND my wife's as well and that is the owner of the shop, Doug McNelly, aka Mac! I can honestly say that we have ALWAYS gotten great quality cuts and I recommend that you give Mac's a shot. I have a rounded flattop and it is tapered down to a zero around the ears and longer up towards the top. Doug nails it EVERY SINGLE TIME! When I think of it, he never fails giving me a superior cut. I actually went to California Concept for over 25 years, but I met Doug when he was in barber school and graduated sometime around 2016, and Doug has cut it ever since. Not only did I get a better price, but I got a better haircut and gained a super friend that is more like a brother than a friend to me!!! So, go check it out and tell him that Kent recommended you. Mac is without a doubt the best barber in Knoxville and I would bet the house on that. He can knock out my cut in 10-15 minutes and have it looking exactly the way I want it. He is a great conversationalist and one of the easiest people to talk to I have ever met. He knows exactly what you want even after a very brief explanation. He has every attribute of a master barber, and I won't let anyone else touch my hair since I went to Mac's the first time. I wish I could give this place higher than 5 stars. The shop itself is everything a barbershop should be. It's a very inviting and intimate place where friends can get together for the best cut in town. I took My Wife into Powell for her to get her hair done. Knowing that I now had two hours to kill I figured I would get a haircut for myself. Typed "Barbershop near me" into Google and the map came up with all sorts of options. I'm an Old School Barbershop type guy and I found Mac's Barbershop with my third tap of the map. It wasn't the closest but I had time. It didn't take me long to realize that I chosen wisely. The Barber, Doug, had one in the chair and one in the waiting area when I got there. I bet I was in the chair in no more than 15 minutes. Doug has a lot of old toys displayed in the shop that brought me back to my childhood. Those toys and those days dominated most of our conversation. Doug finished things off with the warm shaving cream straight razor shave on the back of the neck, a spritz of Clubman, and a hot towel. I walked away with the great haircut, from a skilled Barber, and a hell of a nice guy. I went just a little bit out of my way to go to Mac's but I have no problem recommending that you do the same because it will be well worth it. read more

I hadn't been to a real barber shop since I was a kid and had just been getting haircuts here and there. I was really wanting to get the full professional barber experience and I found it at Mac's. Doug did an excellent job and didn't rush through even though there were several customers waiting that had come in after me...and the prices, SO reasonable. I could hardly believe it!
