Not sure I understand some of the complaints. The front desk staff in Alexandria knew who I was meeting with with and gave me the appropriate forms prior to meeting with him. I took in my X-Rays and had a very detailed conversation with him about the areas of concern that I had. He did an evaluation, used heat packs and did a very good job of adjusting my back and neck without pain. A massage in any chiropractor's office is targeted, and they are generally referred to as Swedish or Therapeutic. Who goes to a Chiropractor for a massage? I have Massage Therapists for massage and a Chiropractor for adjustments. Would never occur to me to go to a Podiatrist for reflexology or a Dermatologist to get my eyebrows waxed! All in all Dr. Mac is very professional and obviously many years of training. If you are looking for a good Chiropractor who won't beat you up, he's the guy. read more

Came in with kbg deal, 3 massages for $30. It was not what I expected. This place is not worth it, even tho it sounds like a good deal. 1) you can't park in the parking lot in front of the building, if you do you will get a ticket. 2) Dr Mac's name is not listed on the building directory. But all you know is that you are looking for suite 200. You get on the elevator to the 2nd floor, and it takes you right in front of suite 200. Then it gets awkward. You sit there waiting in front of a receptionist who isn't really the receptionist for Dr Mac. There's just a bunch of random stuff going on, nothing related to massage or chiropractic care. 3) your "hands on massage" lasts 5 to 10 min. After that he will use a regular vibratory massager to massage your back (which is something you really could've done yourself at home) 4) if you've got knots in your back, proceed with caution! This guy digs his fingernail into your back to "break the knots" (where do they do that at?!) 5) next he will try to assess your alignment. He may tell you that one leg is shorter than the other. He will use some type of hammer like tool to knock on random joints in your lower back and butt (which really doesn't do anything at all) 6) on to the actual adjustment- its not very thorough. I've had other chiropractors do a much better job. You leave there feeling like there was so much more that could've been cracked. He will say that he only does light force adjustments. 7) He promotes his package deals, especially the diamond package at $900/year. 8) He will tell you that your vitamins are not good enough, in order to sell his own vitamins 9) Not once did I see him wash his hands. 10) he is only at this location 3 times a week. 11) After the 3rd visit, he will give you an analysis of your health, which is a bunch of bs. 12) I could tell you more, but i think you get the point. I wish I could give this 0 stars. I bought a deal from dealfind (this is a scam site - all their deals are duds - try redeeming them and the service provider wont call you back - that is another review though). The deal was for a swedish massage - there was NO swedish massage of any kind and I get massages every month. Just some tapping and adjusting - which was not good either. So even if I wanted to go to a chiropractor, I wouldn't choose this gentleman. He is polite but I would recommend he not see any people for treatment if he has a bad cold and he is going to wipe his face with his hands or sleeves. read more

I purchased this dealfind deal because I was looking to de-stress and enjoy some relaxing 30 minute massages. When I called Dr. Mac to clarify that this was the offer, he answered politely and informed me that it would be a blend of massage and chiropractic services, which I knew I could also use. He was also very flexible with my schedule and was excellent at accommodating my needs. At my first appointment and the subsequent appointments to follow, Dr. Mac was warm, polite and friendly greeting me with a smile and being prompt with his time and services, without making the appointment feel rushed. As a former D1 athlete and sufferer of various back pains, I really enjoyed the 10 minute heat pack, 10/15 min massage, and 10 minute alignment breakdown of my appointments. Dr. Mac truly cared about what my ailments were and did everything he could to help relieve me of them. Even after my 3 appointments were up, Dr. Mac let me know what my options were for the various service packages he provided but I never felt pressured to buy anything that wasn't right for me. At the end of the day, I chose to not sign up for any of his package deals because I live 30+ minutes from each of his locations BUT I certainly wanted to because I knew it would have continued to help my stress levels go down, that my body would have been in alignment, and that my lower back pains/issues would have been greatly reduced (including scar tissue). I have had problems with my back, shoulders, arms, and wrists for years. NSAIDs, physical therapy, and injections are all that traditional doctors could do---all with no effect. Tried acupuncture with no result. There's no way I could afford to go to a spa for a massage every week. I figured I would give Dr. Mac the good ol' college try; it couldn't hurt. The regular, concentrated massages that Dr. Mac does with every visit has done the trick, and the harder someone can dig, the better for me. He has demonstrated the willingness to listen to my concerns that no other professional has. We went from two visits a week down to a visit every other week. No longer do my fingers go numb at night, and I can reach for something without wincing. After two months with no visits, while my family moved, all of my problems starting coming back. After only a few visits, I'm back to pain-free. Does Dr. Mac do adjustments like other chiropractors? Don't know; I've never tried another one. Is his office in an unusual place? I guess, if you expect that each profession should be housed together. Is parking a hassle? Not at all if you ask for a parking tag from the receptionist. Is he difficult to contact? He has always responded quickly to both phone and email messages. Has he been able to alleviate pain that I have had for years that no one else has been able to help? Definitely. Is it worth the cost? The combination of STEM, focused massage, "adjusting," and recommended exercises has sure made a difference for me. You'll have to make your own decision. read more

I purchased the Dealfind deal, two 30 minute chiropractic massages for $19. I went in skeptical given the price and came away feeling that Dr. Mac way over delivered, and the critical reviews here are extremely unwarranted in my opinion. I visited both the Herndon office and the Alexandria office, and I understand some of the complaints regarding the Alexandria office, as it is kind of an atypical set of rented office spaces for a variety of businesses with no apparent receptionist. However, for my appointment at the Alexandria office I just sat down in the reception area and Dr. Mac came and got me at the time of my appointment. His actual office at the Alexandria location was well-appointed and professional. The Herndon office was a nice, professional, shared chiropractic clinic. I had no significant issues with either location. As for the exam, Dr. Mac was very friendly and professional, gave a thorough chiropractic evaluation (at least from the perspective of my limited experience), a decent chiropractic massage, and a moderate adjustment. He used a variety of tools and methods in his evaluation, exam, and adjustment and seemed confident in his skills and expertise. It seemed to effectively reduce my mild to moderate back pain and at $9.50 a visit was an exceptional value. Following the two appointments, Dr. Mac gave me a run-down of the different service packages he offers and what I felt was a fair and honest recommendation for me based on his evaluation. It was a no pressure pitch and he offers a lot of different packages and pricing structures. I highly recommend purchasing any of Dr. Mac's voucher deals and at least giving him a try. He seems to be an honest practitioner, that takes pride in his work, and who is just trying to gin up some business by basically giving away his services. I was thinking about purchasing this deal from Eversave but when I called to find out more about the massage and the hours, the receptionist said that he sets his own hours and would be happy to talk to me. Sounded a little odd. I was confused that he is a chiropractor and a massage therapist (not usually typical) so I asked and she said he is a chiropractor, and when I asked again if he was a massage therapist she didn't answer that and just said he is a chiropractor. Sure sounds to me like they just want to get you in there to try to get you to get the chiro services. Glad I called - this deal sounds good on paper but I have too many reservations so I won't be buying it! I'll stick with a legitimate massage! read more

YourDr. Mac has been one of the best things to happen to my back this year. In late February early March i began having terrible back pains; by terrible i mean that on a scale of 1-10 it was an 8.5. I went home during spring break to North Carolina to see the chiropractor only to learn that one hip was higher than the other, my lower back was at a 32 degree angle instead of at the safe 40 degree angle and finally that my lower back where most of my pain was had very little cartilage. My chiropractor saw me two times then let me take my scans with me back to school sothat i may find a Dr. That would be able to help me before things worsened. I found out about dr mac from a friend so i called and he was able to put me into his schedule. The first day i never told him what was wrong with me, i just showed him the scans to see if both drs would be on the same page. He was right on it and also let me kno that the pain im feeling in my lower back is from a degenerative disk. The first day he didnt hastle me with money talk, instead he put me on his table treated me with stem, heat and gave me an adjustment and then we talked about my rehab plan. Dr. Mac was genuienly concerned about my health and was focused on being able to work around my schdule as well as his. Each time i come into the buidling i do not wait more than 5 mins to see Dr. Mac. He is the first Dr. That I have been too where appoitments seem to actually matter to him. Reading the other reviews, I have to say that it does not seem that they knew what the were going in for...if you are going in for 3 back massages how can you complain about the chiropractic treatment. DR. Mac explains the instrument that he uses to adjust your back before he uses it on you. He also does the adjustment with His hands and he is extremely thorough. Since day one of being treadted by him i have experienced fewer episodes of pain and when they do come back it is around a 5 and my hips are evening out. So for all my fellow reviewers: 1) it does not matter that his name is not on the directory. You know to go to suite 200 on the second floor. Its the only suite on the floor and the elevator lets you off right in front. You would have to be an idiot to miss it. If you would speak to the receptionist as soon as you walked in it would not seem so chaotic. Try this line "would you tell Dr Mac that his 4 oclock is here?" 2) I have parked in that parkig lot every time and have never received a ticket. If you did realize that the building accomodates more than 30 offices so it does not reflect on Dr. Macs capabilities and he is not to blame for that. 3) If you dont like something such as the heat level or that he his digging to deeply jus speak up and he will make adjustments for you. One of his best qualities is that he works to please the patient. 4) Every Dr. or service that you visit will hit you with a price for his or her services. Its good to know that Dr. Mac has options for you and that he is willing to work with you. 5) How can you see a man wash his hands when the bathroom is not in his office. If it was that big of a problem to you, then simply ask if he could keep hand sanitizer near. As I stated previously, he adjust. 6) Yes he is only at the Alexandria location 3 times a week, which shouldnt bother you because you should only be receiving an adjustment about two times a week. If that is not enough for you he does have another location which is mot unusual if you are successful. 7) If you decide that you dont want the vitamins he is offering he wont continue to sale them to you, although I will admit they do work. My friend who referred me to him loaded me with them when i was sick and i was already feeling better the next day. 8) Dr. Mac knows what he's doing . I've been to multiple chiropractors growing up and this is the first one where I could tell there was a true patient doctor bond wherethe doctor cares more about your progress. 9) I am 21 yrs old and already dealing with major back problems. I wat to be able to run around with my kids when I have them. Before Dr. Mac that was not looking to great for me. A shot back is excruciating pain but now he is belping bring me a step closer to ensuring that Ill be one of those run around wrestle with your kids type of mom. 10) Im thankful for the services, respect and many adjustments Dr Mac had made for me. Not just the physical adjustments but also the time adjustments and the paying process as well. When yougive a review you should paint the entire picture. I went to Dr. Mac's office after I bought a coupon online. At the time, I did not have any experience with chiropractors. I've been having a lot of pain that none of my doctors could help me with, therefore I was willing to try out alternative routes. Dr. Mac lived up to everything promised on the coupon. The massages are targeted to the problem places, which he was able to easily identify. After seeing him only four times, my pain was 95% gone. Dr. Mac is also very friendly and accommodating. He operates a one-man business, which at first may seem strange, but who cares, after all the results are the ones that matter. I was so pleased with his services, that I brought my mom to his office too, who has been having chronic pain for years. She started feeling better almost instantly and is on route to being pain free. I visited afterwards another chiropractor that was accepting my HMO insurance, but I didn't like him. Even though I have to pay out of pocket, I am back to Dr. Mac's office. And yes, as others pointed it out, the massages do hurt at the moment, but they are very effective and relieve you from the otherwise constant pain. I have been seeing Dr. Mac now for about two years. I decided to write this review because Dr. Mac is the exact chiropractor that we are all search for to help us elevate our pain and help us have a pain free recovery. I never thought that I would be able to lay on a floor and knock out crunches again until Dr. Mac's unique techniques stopped my back from locking up every time I would lye down. Hands-down- he is THE BEST chiropractor that I have ever come across. I drive from Woodbridge just to see him. He is definitely NOT your basic Chiropractor with the same techniques every time. He studies the route of your problems and uses different methods to help you recover. He also got me through my car accident! When I lost all hope and was in a tremendous amount of pain it only took two visits for me to begin to feel a difference and I totaled my car!
