My wife and I have seen Dr Cho and his staff for more than 10 years. Dr Cho always try to fix our problems with exercise, massage, accupuncture and other medicine free techniques. We love this approach, it can take a little bit of time but in the long run, doing the exercises, you are fixing the cause of your problem. The office is cozy with wonderful views to a green area with lots of trees, parking is free. If is raining, there is a covered parking in the building basement available too. Once you make an appointment, somebody from the staff will call you the day before to confirm and remember your appointment which I personally love it. The staffc s excellent and detailled oriented. I went to Dr. Cho for roughly 3 months due to a severely sprained ankle. I went weekly for roughly 1.5 months and biweekly for the rest. Dr. Cho has been very nice, pleasant, and easy-going from the beginning. He was very easy to talk to and relate to, able to make me feel comfortable from the very first visit. To me, that is important if I will have to continue coming for visits multiple times. Most importantly, Dr. Cho actually listened to all the complaints I had about my ankle, the locations and severity and what makes it better or worse. I am a healthcare provider myself as well so it was a big plus to me when he really listened to me rather than just assuming my pain and going about his way with the care without communicating with me. All of his staffs were very pleasant and nice as well. For the second half of my visits, I was commuting from Charlottesville, VA. The practice was very very accommodating and Dr. Cho even stayed after the hours several times to make sure I get enough care I needed for my ankle. Dr. Cho does not make you come over and over again just to make profits. Once my ankle was getting better, he taught me a few practices I could do for my ankle at home and told me that I do not need to come for my ankle again. I could tell that he cared more about caring for my ankle than making money. My overall experience at Dr. Jay Cho's office was wonderful. My ankle feels almost in its original condition. Came here for the 3rd time today and that will be the last. Here's a brief story: 1st visit: he kept yelling at the 2 front desk girls, kelly and the other one and then started embarrassing them. He played it safe as he thought he did by apologizing to me and saying "they think they know what they're doing but they don't". I was like what?? Then I thought he should've trained them better. 2nd visit: while doing the manipulation, he kept yelling at his employees and telling them what to do next. He mentions patients full names and birthdays in front of other patients which is hipaa violation. 3rd visit: I said I didn't want to do the tens unit as it was very uncomfortable and the massage chair which he charges $395 for.. He said to me in front of his employees and a patient that if I don't like his protocol then I didn't have to go there. What a jackass!! So the nice person in me said thanks and left. But I'm going to make reviews of this jackass so people are aware not to go to him! Such a jerk! read more

I learned about Active Care through a Groupon (http://www.groupon.com/deals/active-care-chiropractic-acupuncture). It included two visits; and overall, I'm really happy with my experience. For my first session (~90 min; 2nd one was about ~60 min), I was asked to complete some paperwork. They asked me to sign my patient evaluation form before anything had actually been documented. I asked why, since that's pretty odd; and they said they often forget to get the signature after the session, so they just preemptively get it before. Still odd, and the real solution would be to just do a better job of getting the signature at the end of the session; but, I didn't care that much; so I just signed. If you have concerns, just request to sign afterwards; and I'm sure they'll oblige. After the paperwork, a staffer captured some basic data (blood pressure, height, and weight); and then it was time to see Dr. Yongmin Lee, a chiropractor that specializes in sports and soft tissue injuries. I described my issue (a clicking/popping in my right shoulder brought on by weightlifting). Based on this, he performed some physical tests to test my strength and range of motion, and arrive at an initial diagnosis (rotator cuff tendinitis). Then, he did some active release therapy (ART) and showed me how I can do some self-massage at home to help improve blood flow and release any scar tissue. He also did some spinal "adjustments" since he's a chiropractor. And though we both suspected there were no underlying bone issues, the Groupon included an X-ray; so we took an X-ray of my shoulder. Next were a couple set-it-and-let machines. First, a TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) unit. And then a massage chair. I spent about 10 minutes on each one; and then went back the doctor's office to review my X-rays, which confirmed no abnormalities. Finally, the doctor used some Kinesiology Tape (KT) to stabilize, relieve, and support my shoulder. Overall, I'm pretty happy with Dr. Yongmin of Active Care. I found him to be very knowledgeable, precise, and friendly. read more

I initially came to Dr. Cho's office back in 2011 when I had gotten into a car accident and injured by spine and knees. He is GREAT. While adjusting your back he makes sure to massage you where you are stiff to get all the knots out. Present day, 2015, I still go when I get random pains in my back, neck, or shoulder from working long hours at a desk job. I also went after I hurt my tailbone snowboarding for the first time. He takes care of me and the rest of the staff is extremely helpful as well. The good thing about Dr. Cho is that I start to feel better before the treatment plan is up so I don't need to see him as often. That's a sign that he's great at his job because I don't have to keep going back for extended periods of time. He is very action-oriented so when he isolates the problem, he will advise for the specific treatments to get you feeling better as soon as possible. Completely flexible hours - they are even open on Saturdays and after the typical 9-5 hours during the week. You can tell Dr. Cho and his staff all care about the work they do and grind to achieve success. Absolutely recommend to anyone who has any back or neck pain! read more

This clinic has 2 chiropractors. I initially saw Dr.Cho (who owns the clinic) after a car accident, then saw Dr.Lee for knee pain months later. I've visted various Chiropractors on the same street and this clinic has the best by far. With the other chiropractor down the street (Family Chiropractic) it felt like an assembly line. He cracks your back and they ask to pay. It was very impersonal. Dr.Cho was very thorough in his assessment and really does believe in hands on care. He walked me through every step and was sure to explain everything he knew I knew nothing about. I was able to take x-rays at the location, and was explained what they revealed the same day. Even after the pain in my wrist had faded the doctor continued to check the status and treated my body as a whole with hands on care. I received different physical therapy treatments and the assistants were able to answer any/all questions I walked me through the entire experience too.. After the accident, I sustained a laceration to my liver, and experienced a great deal of pain and the doctor suggested Acupuncture (which I was pretty skeptical of) but after the acupuncture, pain that was intense and had lasted 3 days straight eased dramatically the next day. I received treatment in the clinic over the lapse of a month and was very satisfied with my experience. My favorite part was that neither of the doctors prescribed any drugs or even supplements, just some good exercise. You have to call with a lot of time to schedule an appointment with doctor Cho because he fills quickly. But the clinic is open much later then other clinics in the area which allows for you to go after work which is convenient and is even open Saturdays.I will continue to visit the clinic for any aches or pains I experience down the road and recommend the clinic to everyone I meet. read more

Came here after car accident due to neck and shoulder pain . The pain improved quickly in a few months. Dr.Cho applied his special hand techniques to point out where the pain exactly comes from and treated it in different applications according to the needs. He is very knowledgeable and caring . Active care is a patient focused center that receives my highest recommendation. I've been coming here for five years, and must say that of all the chiropractic centers I've visited, Dr. Cho's holistic approach has been a blessing. I've always had a stiff neck, and while in graduate school, suffered a pinched cervical nerve. Doctors wanted me to use all sorts of pills, and my other chiropractor at the time wanted me to visit him three times per week whereby he'd only see me for five minutes to adjust my neck and back. Every visit felt like a 'drive through chiropractic' experience. Dr. Cho sees one patient at a time. He will listen to your concerns. He will focus on your problem areas. And he actually cares about his patients. I never feel rushed. He will find trigger points and identify tight muscles. Using a hands on approach, he melts trigger points and actively searches for trouble areas. After working through my muscle tissue, Dr. Cho would then adjust my neck and upper spine. I would then do heat based electric stimulation, cervical traction, and sonogram therapy. I feel like a million dollars after I leave. Unlike other chiropractors that are focused on getting you back into their office, Dr. Cho is honest and will have you schedule appointments only as needed. Dr. Cho is an excellent Chiropractor and Acupuncturist. Yes, he also does acupuncture. I suffered many years of sciatica nerves pain and herniated disc at lower back region. I went to a few physical therapy and Chiropractic facilities in Northern Virginia, but it did not help at all.
