Not everyone can wear recycled plastic and polyester. As a cancer survivor, pure fiber apparel is vital. ex. all cotton or wool. Store help should know the difference between cotton and cashmere. We went into the Bellingham store and asked the clerk, for 100% cotton sweaters. Said ...on the other end of the store. We go there, no cotton only Cashmere. 2nd clerk also points to the Cashmere. Says 'we also have something called Fruit of The Loom'. --somewhere. Really? no underwear were seen. This store is competing with search engines that accurately find the correct fiber content. Ever wonder why dpt stores are struggling? More than a cute Christmas face is needed. Someone that knows basic brand, sizing + fabric details. Added: If you spend hundreds at a store, it's considered cheap to ask the customer for 8cents on a bag --OK soon to be 13c. Gives the wrong impression of your store. In regards to my first post regarding all the wonderful things I loved about Macys.....I loved the elegance and quality of their merchandise. I especially loved to talk to the salesperson at the Estée Lauder department named Jo. I wish I knew where she went. I'd love to see her again. The saddest thing that could have ever happen, happened. One late afternoon, a sniper came into the mall with an assault rifle, went on a killing spree, murdered 4 women in the makeup department, 2 employees /2 shoppers, Then ran further into the mall, continued shooting, ran back thru Macy's, exited out the freeway side doors where his car was parked. and sped off...It was so very traumatic to happen in a small town with a store everyone loved to shop in....No one really wanted to go back into Macy's or the mall. It was like a ghost town and didnt take long before most of the stores left. The Cascade Mall and the Outlet Mall has new owners so we will see what the future brings for the malls. read more

One of the few quiet Macy and its in Bellingham in Bellis Fair. Its so quiet. Not many people. Well if there are deals than very likely you will have a high chance finding it here. I went into Macys recently, looking to purchase some new beauty products. When I was there i have noticed an employee names Cathie bring disrespect towards other employees. Not only that but while I was being by someone else. I noticed she would keep circling to our area. This made me feel uncomfortable and as if i was being racially profiled. I will never give Macy's another cent of my money! I've never been so yanked around and screwed with by a company before. Even after winning our credit card dispute and then receiving the merchandise back they are STILL playing games, giving us bogus credits on our credit card so they can try and get our credit card to refund a different (larger) amount. I went in today to find a dress and the department was like a bomb went off. Stuff everywhere, piles of clothes, racks shoved off in dressing areas, it was an utter disaster. The sales clerk was the last straw. He was poorly dressed, super offensive BO, blond multi colored hair with an 'I can't be bothered attitude'. I asked for help and he essentially refused. My partner and I were looking for some time to burn while we crossed the border, after filling our stomachs with food, and filling the vehicle with gas, we didn't want to just head on back so we came to the mall, and walked through Macy's. Sometimes you forget what service really is when your shopping and it's a pleasant surprise when you get some good service, which happened on this day. Once, while we were entering the store, before walking around the mall, but also before we decided to leave for bach home, two times, which means two purchases. The first purchase here was a one piece dress, you know those moments when your not looking for anything and somehow you end up buying something so surprising your happy, with no intention of pulling out your wallet, it happened, no complaints. We were helped out by the woman who was putting the clothes on the hangers, and guiding us to the changing rooms, and also by the male cashier. He recognized we were Canadians, and didn't even attempt to make us sign up for a Macy's card, but also tried to find their current flyer barcode to see if we were able to obtain any additional discount. We were surprised, as we were unknowing, but just to go that extra inch and provide any savings is definitely helpful. While we were walking out we had to cross the shoe isle, and I nudged my partner to take a look at shoes, and we ended up staying longer than we thought. It was a busy department and the woman that ended up helping us brought out some shoes in different varieties that my dear did not ask for in the beginning, but happily left with two pairs, one that she picked out, and one a suggestion, and even at the end, when she rang us up, she tried to apply any extra discount she could. Would definitely walk around in here again to burn some time.. might be scared as money left the wallet, but in the end it was a happy experience. Sadly, Macy's stores around the country are closing up shop (like so many retail chain stores). When I lived in the Seattle area, Macy's at Bellevue Square was one of my go-to stores; I could always find whatever I needed there, and with so many "One Day Sales" (lol), I usually found great clothing and accessories at very reasonable prices. And my kids' wardrobes, too. And so many household items in their home department. It was a regular shopping destination for me. Nowadays, there are fewer and fewer Macy's and those that are still around are rarely the lovely, well-stocked stores they once were. Fast forward to the present. My kid needed a prom dress. We were recently in Bellingham and, of course, when in BHam, we had to stop at my other favorite store, Target. There, I told my kid we might as walk through the attached mall and check out Ulta (how we miss Ulta!) and, on a whim, Macy's. Perhaps they have a prom dress there? (I should add that my daughter is an athletic kid who lives in Vans sneakers and t-shirts, and prom dresses - or ANY dress, for that matter, - is totally totally out of her wheelhouse). She was surprisingly game to check it out so we ventured that way. This Macy's is one of the anchors in the Bellis Mall. They were having a sale on the day we visited (no surprise there! They have lots of sales here and, if you have a Macy's card, the discounts are even better (I used to have one). And when we visited, they had a TON of dresses, all on sale, too. And to my shock, my kid found a dress that was killer. And on sale. Unfortunately, it was the only one that they had in that size and it was stained a bit, so they offered us a 10% discount on the sale price (they checked to see if they could order a new one but for various reasons, they couldn't). Personally, I think they should have discounted the dress more, as there were a few marks on it, but it was still a decent deal, so we got it. Plus I found another cute dress for my kid that she loved (amazing again!), and when they priced it for us, it only cost $17! A steal. So we got that dress, too. I liked how you can take as many items as you want into the dressing rooms (my kid had 30+ dresses at one time with her), and no-one bothers you when you browse and look around (I don't like hovering salespeople). The downsides? Some departments (like the dress section) are in disarray, with many dresses on the wrong racks, some on the floor, may draped over hangers and racks, unzipped. The dressing rooms were in disarray too; the one my kid used initially had the previous users' clothing still in there (I removed all the items myself. There were many). I think this store is understaffed. We waited a while to be helped at the cash, too. If you are willing to deal with some disarray and lack of assistance at times, you might find what you're looking for - and sometimes at an incredible price. read more

I made the trip up from Mount Vernon due to our local Macy's closing it's doors in 2019. I was looking for shoes, which they did not have in stock, but I did find a nice vest in the color I wanted and it was on sale so I bought it. I got home and noticed that the customer service rep. had forgot to take the ink capsule off, so I had to go clear back up and have them remove it. Right when I walked in I looked to the left and there was a returns counter, so I went directly to him and told him what happened. This customer service rep. could care less that I had to make a special trip just to have an ink capsule removed from a $35 vest. No apology, no "what can we do to keep me as a customer?" Not even a "sorry for the inconvenience".. nothing. I always enjoyed the Burlington Macy's and I really miss them. With the lack of customer care I'll be betting that this Macy's will be on the chopping block next. I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

And when my Ray Ban order arrived it was the wrong item because the clerk was unknowledgeable about the sunglasses even when I had the replica sunglasses with the RB code # on them she still could not get the order correct and the whole process to order took 30 minutes because their dinosaur computer had to do an update. Let me just say that Normally I will do just about anything to avoid the mall. Today I was needing to shop for something that I needed assistance with. We went to to another department store first and even though there seemed to be a nice selection, there was no salesperson to be found. But this review is about Macy's. There was a lovely lady at the counter when we entered her department. She greeted us warmly. I asked her if she could fit /measure my daughter and she immediately made my daughter comfortable and took her to the dressing room. She was fast and accurate! I Found out later that she actually went through a training program. She was younger and that helped Make my daughter feel more at home in that department. At the same time, she was very professional, poised and knew her department well. We ended up purchasing 3 items and I am Very grateful in her assistance in making this a great experience for my daughter. We continued our shopping within Macy's and even though We didn't purchase anything else, we had A wonderful time chatting with salespeople and seeing a lot of very nice items. If I must go To the mall (especially a department store!) Macy's will be my new first choice. Macy's, I suspect you have a new custom in my daughter as well :) read more

I normally LOVE Macy's! I can shop for hours upon hours. Sadly, not at this location. We were there Sunday, around 6pm. It was a ghost town. The staff (Especially the woman at Clinique) looked absolutely miserable. It was way smaller then most of the other Macy's I have shopped at. This meant way less selection. Went in Saturday and there was a lovely woman doing a demo for the nespresso machines. I was able to get details about the machines from her and a sample too. I wasn't planning on buying the machine that day I had to do a little price shopping first. When i came back the next day I walked in and I knew what I wanted so wasn't a big deal that I didn't see anyone right away. I went to the register and found 2 lovly ladies, 1 was busy with someone and the other assisted me right away. I asked if they price matched and was advised they do for brick and mortar stores not online however she didn't end there. She proceeded to ring up what I wanted and searched for discounts being offered that would apply. All said and done the price ended up as low as I found it online and I got an amazing new espresso machine without having to wait for it to be shipped. read more

This Macy's in Bellingham, WA is located off of Interstate 5, Exit 256. The exit takes you right in front of the Bellis Fair Mall, which is very convenient. The store itself is a bit dated and rather small. Coming from the Chicago suburbs, I was used to Macy's anchor stores being at least three floors. The store here is much smaller and the selection more limited. The Men's section is especially difficult to locate, which is no surprise. I certainly did not help that cause either by purchasing only one pair of jeans compared to my mother's two bagful. Macy's, what has happened? I used to be able to count on you to have the styles and sizes I needed but now your Bellingham store is like walking into a TJ Max, the clothes are all strewn about with many lying on the floor and where once was gorgeous new stock all neatly arranged in their respective designers section, now there's absolutely no organization whatsoever. The chaos is so bad that I can't even stand to look for anything because I just get frustrated. My shopping excursion yesterday was totally unacceptable, I went to Macy's in search of a simple cotton, long sleeved shirt. First of all, it seems that cotton is an endangered species because I only found one maker that still uses cotton, polyester was abundant though. When I entered the department I usually shop in I found it in total disarray- the designers and companies used to have their own sections but that's gone now and I found Donna Karan slacks mixed with Style &Company tops on a rack with London Fog coats! The coordinates for one collection were mixed in with jeans and some of the remaining pieces were thrown in with evening wear! I can't tell you how frustrating this is. Disorganization is not the only thing that bothers me, there is now no attendant or cashier, so, not only was it impossible to find anything but there was no one to help me. I tend to go back and forth on our Bellingham location. It can be quite provincial at times and not carry anything from the Web site. There are times where the women's section has been completely picked over and not restocked. Estée Lauder's counter people have brushed me off. However, this past trip I was able to find almost everything I need for school. The customer service was top notch at Estée Lauder and I was offered an extra discount for being a teacher. I wish the this store could always be this great, but it's Bellingham and there are limits to the market. Great visit this past Labor Day. read more

I will say that Macy seems to always have the best price on Levi's for men. Selection and service our to the best reasons that I shop at Macy's. However the few times I've been into this Macy's location I have found It to be very empty of customers. In fact I would venture to say that last night there were more employees and shoppers. Yesterday, I went with the intention of purchasing a pair of shoes. The women's shoe department wasn't especially busy. I found what I wanted, sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. No eye contact was made by any associates. It was though I was invisible. I even waved to draw attention to myself. I finally stepped into the "employees only" back room to discover an employee chatting on the phone. Obviously, it was not business-related. Absolutely Appalled at the way an older lady working the INC area and counter had treated my daughter and I during our last visit. There are NO signs in this place as to where someone would line up especially since only about half or less of the check out counters were open. An older lady with dark shoulder length hair and glasses used a very rude tone to have us go to another checkout counter stating the line begins in another area and it is first come first served. I get it people do not want to be rushed or over worked if it is busy however that was not the case what so ever, there was 1 person in front of us with 2 items and no other cashiers available. I will not be returning to the Bellingham Macys, please hire people that want to actually work. Macys can be hit or miss but no matter which location, the women's shoe department is always pretty solid. Lots of items on sale, lots of variety with regard to type of shoe and very friendly service. I popped in here looking for a very specific heel to go with a dress and found no fewer than 5 types of shoes to try on. Sadly, I wear a common size and nothing fit just right but it's also summer and sandals and peep toe heels are going fast. I'm not in Bellingham often enough to really take advantage of this mall but on my most recent visit I'd have to say that the Macys was the best large department store there. read more

I now have a very good understanding on why Macy's is going out of business. First of all their shoe department lacks employees, and has long wait times. I went in on a Sunday, and it was very busy. It took about 10 minutes to wave an employee over to help me. I decided to make a purchase, and there were about 10 people in line at the shoe department. I made the choice to walk over to a different department, where there were no lines. They seemed annoyed I wanted to purchase shoes in a different area of the store, and I told them the line was long in the shoe department. They rang me up, after I told them this. I forgot my make up at home (in Spanaway) on my way to a bachelorette party so my friend and I decided to go to Macy's and get our make up done. We had done this a few times before for a few events and it had been a great experience at other locations, however, this woman at this location needs to SERIOUSLY RE-THINK her profession.
