Macy's is having a moment. They have a great selection of lovely and reasonably priced clothing and accessories, and a wonderful selection of sheets and home decor. I love shopping at Macy's. The people who work there are the nicest. Yesterday, I had two salespeople go out of their way for me. One thanked me for looking at their merchandise. I mean that was above and beyond. That was so sweet. Another employee held a jacket for me while I was shopping. What a lovely person. The make up and clothing are brand name products. They have Lancôme, Kylie Jenner, and Victoria Beckham. They have a lot of designer clothing and petite clothing on sale. I have bought everything from clothing, makeup, luggage, sheets, and small appliances at Macy's. It seems like what ever I need, I can find it at Macy's. read more

12.19.24 I never shop at this location because I live in Columbia so I go to the store in Mall in Columbia. This location is so much better than the Columbia one. It is more organized, the selection and variety are better, the petite section is much larger than the Columbia location, and they had more items that I was looking for in my size. The Columbia location feels cluttered and disorganized as they likely have more inventory. After a while I feel overwhelmed and I get tired of shopping. The sales racks at the Bethesda location are way more organized and tidy. I was able to find a pair of flared jeans in my size. When I shop at the Columbia location, it is rare that I am able to do that. I definitely prefer this location and will start coming to this mall rather than the Columbia location. read more

This review is for the Men's suit section, not the rest of the store, but dress shirts will get a mention. After punishing myself by going to Men's Wearhouse, I had almost given up on finding something I liked, that fit me, and could be ready before the weekend. I walked in and started looking when a pleasant lady walked up and asked if she could help me. I said I needed a classic fit suit and was told, they are in this section (the entire section was divided into groups so all the slim were together as were all the classic, etc.) as she took me to the right area. I am not an easy customer, and walked around picking things up. By the time I hit a dressing room she had 4 suit coats and about 8 pairs of pants waiting for me. I really, really liked all 4 and will be back for more. Anyway, while I would expect they work commission it didn't feel that way. Every time I stepped out to grab something one of the salespeople was there to help. "She is at the register helping that other person, what do you need?" "Let me look in the computer to see if that size is available anywhere." "Let me grab the tailor." Customer service was SO much better than the other place. The tailor came right out and marked the jacket and pants up amd will have them for me in 3 days, you know, before the weekend. Every person I interacted with knew about both suits and customer service. The cost for a Brooks Brothers suit after tailoring (and I am shaped in a way that requires both pant and jacket alterations) was about 30% less than the Men's Wearhouse brand. Even though it is about 30 miles closer to my house than Macy's, I will never go back to that store. On the way out I wandered through the shirt section. Strangely enough the lady there stopped re-folding shirts and asked if I needed any help. When I said I was just looking at shirt and collar styles she told me, "All the classic fit are here and all the slim are on the other side of the aisle." The sections are well organized, pricing surprised me by being much lower than expected, amd the salespeople were helpful without being pushy. Go here not there. read more

How interesting that the review before mine is about the men's suit department at the Macy's at the mall in Bethesda. My experience was NOTHING like the fantasy positive review just posted. This is about the men's suit department. It was a HORRIBLE experience because of the overly competitive relationships between the sales associates. We had just arrived and a woman associate RAN - RAN! a far distance to reach us before any of her sales colleagues reached us. They are doing this from the overly competitive environment for commissions, but there is no excuse for it. They are HIGH pressure - not low pressure. I purposefully went to the male associate because the female associate was so ridiculously pushy and overbearing. I've never seen a salesperson RUN at me as a customer! They have plenty of clothes on sale for both Men and Women. Like the Men's section since they have nice new styles at Inc, Nike, Under Armour, and Calvin Klein. The prices are decent for the discounted ones. Regular prices can be a little expensive, though. Noticed they added a checkout section in the middle of the store downstairs. It wasn't there before. A checkout lane got created near the escalators with a toy collectible section and charger/earbuds section along with a gift bag area. read more

I went to Macy in Bethesda MD on 9/5/25 Friday around 10:30am, I purchased "the Cellar 6-Qt. Ceramic Nonstick Complete Stock Pot 4 pieces" for $58.29. I went to pay, but there were 2 very unprofessional lady cashers with bad attitudes, while the shop hardly had any customers, they kept chatting loudly with each other the whole time instead of taking care of me. The worse yet to come, when I went home, I opened the box, the wood spoon was missing. Beware that before paying, make sure you need to open the package to check! read more

I stopped into the Macy's home portion two days in a row to look at couches. With Covid the store was pretty empty and to be honest staff weren't that friendly. I'm not going to hold that against them since I wouldn't want to be working either. The store itself is laid out with a good flow. There's always a sale section towards the left when you walk in that tends to have something I want to buy. In the past we've purchased anything you can think of here. Bedding, luggage, cookware, but today it was all about the sectionals and mattresses. I have to admit the sales representative was awful. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone and actually refused to buy anything from him. While walking out I asked another associate for their card to order from them instead. Overall the interaction with staff was disappointing and while I will order the mattress from the other associate it's only because of the price. The sectional will be purchased elsewhere. I don't think I would recommend buying or even browsing the furniture here. read more

The salesman Henxxx promised to call when the inventory release code was available to sell and I have been calling weekly to purchase the furniture on their floor with no results, if they ever bother answering the phone! Shopping gone bad!!! Macy's need to have longer hours being it's a large department store. After shopping there I went into mall and purchased some other items but by the time I returned to Macy's all doors were locked so I had to exit out of the mall near Cheese Cake factory. Then walk around the building through the parking lot in the rain. I got half way to where my car was parked...strategically under Macy's Pavilion b/c I knew it was going to rain...and noticed people exiting from another Macy's entrance. I entered the store walked right past one of the employees...she didn't say anything like "miss there's no other way out" " you can't come in". I got near the escalators and encountered a young lady who I thought was about to help me exit near my car. I explained to her I needed to get downstairs and she said " ok I'll take you". But instead she walked me right back towards the same door I entered. I was shocked!!! I exited and had to walk down road, around another part of building down a slippery hill in the rain with my bags. This doesn't sit well b/c what if this was my teenager or older parent...made to walk outside in the rain all that way around the building ABSOLUTELY not cool!!! Macy's has two locations at the Bethesda mall: one for apparel and one for home goods and furniture. This review is for the home store which is beyond dumpy. Macy's management should be embarrassed by the state of this store. Merchandise strewn everywhere. Every display in disarray. The home goods section is easily 7000 square feet and I counted one employee: a man with a shaved head, a hand tattoo, and wearing black combat boots. I came here in need of a pillow, but between the store looking like a bomb went off and a line of 10 people waiting at the only open register, I hightailed it out of there. A well-stocked Macy's in a busy mall, you would never guess the issues that exist here with customer service. My friend had a piece of luggage that was faulty. She brought it in to return with a receipt and was told they don't accept luggage returns. She had purchased it within 30 days and it wasn't a return...technically the item was faulty so she was due a refund. The Macy's employee was rude and dismissive. I told her to go the Macy's at Tyson's instead and it was immediately accepted to refund. I didn't think much of this incident until i was refused a return with receipt, well within the return window. The employee (at Sunglass Hut within Macy's) wouldn't ring it up. I told her to scan it and see if the return would go through. It did. She was belittling and clearly unhappy with her job and i do feel bad for her. However in the service industry, it is unclear why such atrocious attitudes and rude comments are necessary. Repeated issues like this are making me wonder if corporate penalizes stores for their purchase to return ratio. This recurrent issue is being reported to corporate so we will await a response shortly. read more

The Macy's at Westfield Montgomery is enormous! Many brands smaller Macy's don't carry can be found here. The sales people are very accommodating, as well. I shirt I found was on a rack for $29.99 but self-scanned for $39.99, so I took a photo of the shirts on the rack. When the cashier rang up the shirt zip i mentioned the price difference and offered the photo, to which she answered, "No worries, I trust you." read more

After hunting down a sales associate in the Polo department to try something on they refused to make the item available and ultimately lost out on a potential high-priced item sale. Employee attitudes are a great way to lose all current and future business. After requesting to speak to a manager to sort the issue out associates refused to contact a manager. I stopped @first open register, stood in line behind Other customers who also appeared to be making returns. When it was my turn, I provided sales associate w/clothing, original packaging & receipt For mail order purchase. She scanned as needed, I signed as necessary & she provided me a return receipt. Total time: 10 minutes from arrival to completion. Note: I checked Macy's "Return Policy" via website before hand: Returns accepted up to 180 days. Some other restrictions apply. Had a few specific items to pickup & quickly made it to the register. I was behind a customer that wasn't embracing what Ms. Helen, the Sales Associate was trying to relay to her about her return. My quickly turned into a 15 minute wait as the other register was backed up too. Ms. Helen apologized for the wait and thanked me for my patience...that leveled my impatient mood. Plus I applaud her for not losing her cool as not everyone is built for retail. Once it was my turn, she thanked me yet again for my patience & extended me an additional discount on my next visit. I would give this place 5 Stars if everyone was as incredibly kind, accommodating, patient, informative, and knowledgeable as Sherry in Origins. She is always so pleasant and friendly and takes her time to explain the features of each product to her customers. I make it a point to stop by every time I'm at this mall and always buy something since they usually have irresistible deals/gifts/promotions. Zubeida from the watch department is also very kind and patient with her customers. She worked with me while I tried on numerous watches until I found the perfect one. The rest of the store is sub par. The staff is some departments (perfume) harass you and try to hard-sell their colognes and perfumes that have a slight discount (probably to meet their end of the month quotas) while in other departments (women's, athletic wear) there are hardly any staff present. read more

There's a lot to like about this Macy's, but I especially appreciate the relatively larger petites section and shoe department (especially compared to the Nordstrom's in this mall). The downside is most of the salespeople at the registers seem to be trained poorly and/or this location is seriously understaffed and/or the personnel are often just surly or incompetent or sloooooow. read more

I am giving Macy's 3 stars because I want the chain to stay open. It's in need of some serious management of operations throughout the DMV area. I am finding the same experience at each Macy's store that I stop through reminding me of the movie, "Groundhog Day." The brands are great, there are TONS of overstock at every store. I think that they have a hoarding issue of retail clothing. So many piles and racks and pallets of merchandise that they continuously have all over the store that the salespeople have no room or enough racks/tables to stock the floor with. This leads to racks overflowing with clothes that eventually find their way to the floor. The sales do not make much of a dent into the retail price and this is most likely why the items do not move. There must be 5 people hired to work per store. It's really tough to find help and I could guarantee most of the salespeople are actually shopping instead of working. They work extremely slow and cannot attend to customers that get frustrated or just palm unsecured items as they walk out the door. It's truly a shame to see a nice store like Macy's be treated so lousy by it's employees and customers. The restroom here on the 1st floor was closed and signed to use the upper floor. OMG, I wanted to get a lab at a walk-in clinic after seeing the condition of this restroom. Blech. Come on ladies, clean after your so and so and put your used this and that in the garbage can! It was worse than a porta potty at a outdoor concert or marathon. Just horrendous. Ways to improve would definitely be to: - bring more staff to the floor. Not just to walk around you, or tail gate you and not ask if you need help. I usually am hunting a specific item, but as urgent as my search must have looked, no one asked me if I could use some help. I don't get that. They instead stood two at a register watching me like I was part of the safari. - Repair and clean the restroom. OMG, someone will catch a disease there. No doubt about that. - Have merchandise stock in the mornings. - Have brighter entryways, it's so creepy finding a door that looks like your entering a warehouse. It needs to be updated. - Train staff to know how to assist customers. This will get the stock moving and bring back customers. -Better sales. The quality of some of the pieces do not match the price. Even when they are designer labels. Just not appealing to see the prices of polyester pieces. Overall, they do carry great brands, have a ton to choose from if you have the time to search and dig. There is a glint of glamour in Macy's, you just have to polish it off a bit. read more

My son was looking for a suit for a wedding and we ended up (stressed after a bad experience in another store) at Macy's in Montgomery Mall. We were greeted by Mr Innocence who guided my son through the struggles to find a fitting suit, shirt and tie. Mr innocence was professional, patient and incredibly kind, showing no signs of rushing despite a busy time in the store. Just by eye measurements he suggested the right sizes and he listened to what my son was looking for. A very pleasant, professional experience! read more

Some of the best customer service in the business. I took an outfit there today that was gifted to my son (9 months size). He is already wearing 18 months so I went in and asked to exchange it. They didn't have the exact outfit so the employee offered to exchange it with one that looked similar for no additional charge. The new outfit was almost double the cost but she said it was fine. After she did the exchange I asked for a gift box but they were out. She was able to track down a box for me in a different department. I was in and out in 15 minutes and the whole time they made me feel like I was a loyal customer despite only shopping there a handful of times a year. Sometimes I forget why these type of department stores exist (with Amazon and all) but then I remember that good customer service is rare these days. read more

I was highly offended at Macy's today. While my daughter and I tried on dresses in the junior dpt. Dressing room we were violated by a male security guard. The White male security guard entered the dressing after being told by my aunt, mother, and myself it was occupied. He proceeded to come in and walk to the back, stating "I'm changing the sheet". I did ask for a manager to report this. Obviously there needs to be rules and regulations posted about males entering a female dressing room. The two female manager I spoke to were apologetic and helpful And later a father enters maybe Macy's should create a family dressing room for father's. I'm NOT comfortable. read more

I ordered shoes through Macy's for pick-up in Westfield Mall, Bethesda, MD. I had to return them to get another size and when I got them and tried them, they slipped on my heel at home. I put them back in the box. I then became ill and was unable to return them until today. They told me it had been over 45 days and they could not take them back. They would not even give me a store credit. I had NO IDEA that I was not ordering from MACY'S. I have never heard of FINISH LINE or the fact that it was a "kiosk store" within Macy's. I will never buy another item from either store. These shoes are popular and brand new. This is horrible customer service. read more

I ordered a particular sectional on Nov 28, 2020, in a particular color, because the salesperson in Macy's (Bethesda) told me that those items were in stock. I still have not received it. It was, in fact, back ordered and has been delayed twice. I can't help feeling swindled. I would have purchased something else, somewhere else if I knew I would have to wait this long. I called today to see if it has arrived in the warehouse and they told me that even after it arrives in the warehouse it will take 7-10 business days for them to contact me to schedule delivery. This seems like an unnecessarily long time. I have never bought furniture from Macys and won't ever again. read more

This complaint is for the Jewlery department for instore pick up. Awful customer service online and instore. Store is so disorganized when it came to my instore pick up experience. For something other stores have figured out so easily, the instore pick up process, Macy's is really behind. And the customer service is terrible, pick up at the store is always an awful experience. I probably get better customer service through Forever 21. The workers instore always act like they're doing you a favor, no smile, no greeting. I'm here to simply pick up an order usually, and everyone is reluctant to help me. Today I went to pick up the earrings, and the order itself gave vague instructions where to pick it up. And the signs for pick up are always misplaced or vague at Macy's. Once I went to the Jewelry section by the "instore pick up sign" that was basically way in the back corner, the woman with dirty blonde hair, who I asked for help simply responded "yes" ignored me, and focused on getting her jewelry sale with another customer, didn't bother asking me to wait, or finding someone to help me. After waiting for a little bit she yelled at me and my boyfriend for standing there and told us to wait somewhere else, and why aren't we waiting on the other side of her booth, like where no one was. Once some people finally appeared to work at the jewelry instore pick up section, they couldn't even find the order and kept asking us questions about the item, even though the email and confirmation was right in front of them. I ended up having to find the earrings myself and bringing it to them, doing their job for them. When I got the earrings I went home and found out they were broken. It wasn't even worth the headache. Macy's managed to find people whom care less about the world than Forever 21 to work for them. Lesson learned, I'll just buy crusty cubic zirconias for not $40 dollars at Macy's jewelry department. read more

This was a really unpleasant experience. i returned an item to Macy's and they said that i missed the deadline for reimbursement but that they would give me my money back in the form of a gift card. It was inconvenient but I accepted it. Today, cyber Monday, I attempted to use the gift card. HOWEVER, it was rejected. I called the number provided and reached someone who was very difficult to understand. The bottom-line; the rejected the gift card. In order to use it, I have to have a receipt from it. There are many department stores to choose from at Montgomery Mall when it comes to buying home goods and Macy's is not the place. They don't believe in customer service unless you let the employees know you're actually going to buy something. Seeing as they work on commission, they have absolutely NO motivation to help just for the sake of helping. Today, I was in search for a folding chair. Two employees were chit chatting when I asked for help. I was told they don't see those kinds of chairs and regardless he doesn't do that department. I'm disappointment that this man couldn't have led me to something similar or even attempted to show some interest. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

They say the first step of recovery to an addiction is admitting you have a problem. Well, I'm addicted to stationery stores and houseware stores (think Paper Source, Papryus, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma) and I don't think there's a problem with this at all. (Is that a problem?) At Montgomery Mall, Macy's has two separate stores - one for home and one for clothes, etc. Can you guess which one is my favorite? I was about to exit the mall when I passed by this store. I really needed (okay, fine, I-wanted-) a grill pan, so I detoured to the Macy's Home Store. About 30 seconds in, I was greeted by an employee and asked if I needed assistance. At the time, I was too busy admiring the Martha Stewart Bakeware to want help so I passed. Later, though when I needed someone, I couldn't find anyone! I ended up paying in the tapestry section. Anyway, I ended up finding the perfect Calphalon Grill Pan with metal press 50% off (off of what, I won't say). I love it. I've been making turkey burgers, lamb burgers, lamb meatballs, grilled asparagus and other things that look great with grill marks on them. This Macy's Home Store is a great place to pick up kitchen appliances and other home goodness. I am so pleased it's just a bus ride away. read more
