Macys in Freehold Mall is one of my favorite places to shop when I'm visiting New Jersey. One particular employee in the shoes department, Is always professional and courteous. His name is William and he provides outstanding customer service. Just wanted to write a customer survey with Macys directly today and wasn't able to do so online. I have been a Macy's shopper for a very long time. I have shopped at Macy's in many different malls and states. The Macy's at Freehold Mall, NJ is very disappointing and messy. It was shocking to see that all types of clothing were hung mixed together, pants, sweaters, tops all together on the same racks. There is a limited variety of clothing in the woman's department. Most Macy's present the clothes in an attractive manner but not the Macy's at Freehold, NJ. The clothes look like they were in the store for years! The appearance of this store shows that it has no respect for Macy's customers. The manager of this store needs to be removed due to lack of maintaining a neat and presentable store. When will a Macy's supervisor or an administrator from Macy's headquarters clean up this store and hire a manager who can maintain an attractive and appealng store environment? I haven't been to Freehold Mall in quite some time, because of covid. I always liked to go into Macy's and browse, maybe to pick up a new shirt or sweater or whatever. So this past weekend I took a ride to Macy's. What a disaster that store has become. I went upstairs to the women's department and thought I just walked into a cheap rummage sale. There was stuff all over the place. Nothing was organized. The clothing was just shoved on racks and tables. Is it because they don't hire people to organize the merchandise? My issue is with an on-line order I placed for my daughters wedding day. I & the MOG ordered their Marabou slides. When I tried mine on there was fur all over my floors. The quality of them was horrific too. The MOG's slippers immediately broke upon walking in them a few minutes. She returned hers even though the return date has passed. I began the return process through their website & was told a return slip was being e-mailed to me & the "supervisor" allowed the return even though the return date has passed by a week or 8 days at most. I checked every day for the email. After 5 days I called & was rerouted to India. They didn't even have a record of my prior call & was told the return was past the expiration date. If you can't stand by your products then you've just lost a long time customer. read more

I dragged my pregnant self 30 minutes to this location in hopes of finding some comfortable maternity clothes. I was shocked that the store didn't even have a maternity clothing section. Hell they didnt even have 1 rack of maternity clothes at all. Not only are they biased against pregnant women but the store was also trashed. Empty shelves and racks, clothing on the floor, everything looked like a dump. I've seen classier Walmart's. read more

It's definitely not Nordstrom. No customer assistance unless you go up to cash register where they all stand there talking. I went up and asked Joey for help. He goes to the bak, he's the shoes and just hands you the boxes into your hands. The seat next to husband is empty. Then Joey disappears and we thought he's looking for more shoes in my husbands size. Nope. He comes back out and starts putting the shoes away.... Never asking us if we like any or do we need any further assistance. Then he goes back to cash register with his group and out comes their cell phones. Really?!? Macy's has such a long, recent history absorbing smaller companies I often think of Bambergers/Burdines/Lazarus/Shillito's/Rike's/Robinson-Mays when I write one of these reviews. That's a lot, just in itself. I like the brands they carry. Sometimes, their exclusive store brands are good, also. While they're the big name in mid-level shopping, people are doing less of it at Macy's, and more of it at Target, which executes their strategy well. They're both lucky that JC Penney and Sears are struggling. This store didn't exactly have a lot of business while I was there. It's not as crowded, space-wise, as I remember. I'm guessing that the company got negative feedback for narrowing the aisles. I appreciated that there are three floors, but it's weird having The Cellar on the third floor, by definition that's closer to the attic, not the cellar. I hope that they'll continue to find interesting merchandise and stay in business, as it would be a shame to have to order everything online, sight unseen. read more

Went to Macy's in Freehold NJ. I was purchasing 4 pairs of pants and 5 shirts. After I made the purchase they told me I had to purchase Macy's paper bags for 33 cents each I said are kidding me I spending $339.00 now I have to pay for your bags to carry out my purchase. I let her I was going into the mall To do more shopping, she said well either buy the bags or carry them without bags or you could bring them to your car. My answer to her was KEEP YOUR MERCHANDISE. This Macy's is my local one and the one that I visit the most. Store is usually pretty clean, but can be a disaster around the holidays when shoppers destroy every rack and shelf they come across. Parking here isn't the greatest. The parking area closest to the store entrance is always packed even if the store doesn't seem to be. This location as with all Macy's locations suffers from coupon exemption fever. This has been a long time peeve of mine with Macy's. You will get a coupon for 20% off, but it excludes virtually everything except for green socks!! Most of the ladies at the registers here are pretty nice. They will get you a coupon if they can. read more

I love the Macy's chain and think that overall they have a great variety of products and brands, and a great price point for a department store. The Macy's at the Freehold Raceway Mall has just gone down hill over the years. Products are disorganized and often it looks like the store has been ransacked. The dressing rooms need a major up haul too. They are just run down and dingy. Despite the fact that there are cashier counters all over, it seems like there are some that are never open. I have been shopping at freehold mall for my entire life and this Macy's has always been a mess. The clothes are unorganized and over crowded. I just spent a half hour looking for a worker to help me return an item I bought online. As I was saying out loud to my sister that I needed help and couldn't find anyone, a worker walked right passed me, turned around to look at me then continued to walk away. I usually do all of my Macy's shopping online as these stores could take all day to navigate. That being said, when I do go it is to the Freehold location to make returns. Note to buyer: ALWAYS know exactly how much should be owed to you. It may be common sense to most but I usually just rely on the cashier to ring it in correctly. Well today I went to return 4 things. The girl behind the counter was so rushed and frantic. There was no one in line behind me and it was only an hour after the store opened so I'm not sure why she was so manic. Either way, in her rush to get my 4 things returned she missed a pair of $30 pants. I almost walked Away but stood near the register and opened my email to check the original receipt against her math. When I approached her about it she acted annoyed and didn't even apologize. Only when I told her the least she could do was say she was sorry she shot back a snarky half ass apology. This girl REALLY needs to work on her customer service. I spend a decent amount at Macy's monthly and I feel like this girls lack of attention detail nearly cost me $30 and she couldn't even be bothered by it. Macy's offers lots of selection as long as you're not looking for anything crazy and their prices are very good. I bought a suit for a wedding here about 1 month ago. It listed for 600 or so and after the cashier kept ringing up coupon after coupon the final tally was only like 260 or so. I figured I got off cheap!! Another nice thing about every Macy's I've been to is the staff is super helpful. Generally people seem to be in a good mood, and are eager to help. That says a lot to me. read more

I will start off by saying this, this is not New York City. Therefore, do not have high expectations in this Macy's. First off, the staff are not impeccably dressed. Their clothes look worn down. Also the staff are very nice even though they are slightly inefficient. I was in the shoe section on Black Friday and the employees kept on bringing out shoes without putting them back in! It was chaotic! There was so much trash and shoes on the floor and chairs. It was difficult to walk. After about 45 minutes did some employees start cleaning up. I can understand there being not enough staff to help customers but this was too much! When I went to Lord & Taylor earlier, the shoe mess was not as bad. There there we probably the occasional shoe left behind, but here there were piles of shoes everywhere. The registers were another pain. I waited and my sister waited separately for a good half hour before we were helped. It was beyond gust frustrating because the lines were not that long. My sister and I then went to the clothing section. The lines and craziness was not as bad there however Macy's had a horrible selection of clothes that were on sale. The clothes that were not on sale, were the ones that my sister and I wanted because the quality and style were good. The fitting rooms were a mess. They were not regulated at all. I have never seen a clothing store so messy and unorganized. I actually had to step over piles of clothes to get to the next rack. Not to mention the rack itself was just as bad. Couldn't move the dresses around to look through them. Just a complete mess. Went into the fitting room to try on a few dresses and those were just as bad!!! Piles of clothes in each room. I worked in retail for 6 years, I know it can get busy but there was no excuse for this mess. It wasn't busy when I was shopping so the employees could have definitely cleaned up. This review pertains to their customer service on Twitter ONLY . After trying to contact the store all day with no success, I then tried their online help. At first I got a virtual assistant, then a person who was going to connect me to the store. This wasn't successful either. Finally I tried Twitter and in 10 minutes, my problem was resolved. I can't understand why there is no customer service in the stores available on the phone. You can't even send an email if your topic isn't covered in one of their set choices. read more

When I went shopping there, I heard many times, 'We don't have that size in stock, but we can mail it to your home.' My response: "I'll buy it online, thank you.' And brick-and-mortar stores wonder why they they are losing business to online retailers. I will add, though, that the staff who work there struck me as generally very pleasant and genuinely helpful when they could be. Just bought a Sealy Bed at Macy's. We thought we wanted a hybrid, but found it was too soft due to having the memory foam on top. Shirley and Lynn were great! They explained some of the differences between types of bed and we chose a Euro pillowtop instead. Much firmer! read more

This review pertains to the customer service in the perfume/cologne department ONLY in most Macy's stores, but specifically in the Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold,NJ. The employees in this department are like vultures, you can't even look at a perfume/cologne without at least 5 or 6 of them surrounding you asking you if you need help. At one point, employees were trying to steal customers away from other employees, which was extremely unprofessional (and shows that they most likely run on commission). They also give you 10 perfumes/colognes to smell at once without telling you what they are so you have no idea what you are actually smelling. They are insanely pushy with different promos they have, even after you tell them you aren't interested in that kind of perfume/cologne. Basically, it is very hard to shop in here on your own without being bothered. When we told an employee about our experience, she started whispering to other employees about us, and told us they've never had a complaint before (which I highly doubt is true). The rest of the store is great, it's just this specific department that needs some major employee improvements. read more

Today, I went to the Macy's and was helping someone pick out a dress when we had to deal with a rude staffer named Lois. Lois spent her time bad-mouthing fellow paying customers, within ear-shot of those customers. Additionally (and most disturbing of all), Lois was wearing a black bra with a fully sheer red shirt... Her breasts and waist were in full view of the public. This garment was not age appropriate for anyone, let alone Lois, who appeared to be nearing 75. I gave the a-ok rating because there are clothes, etc. on the racks in Macy's. So, theoretically, you'll find something pretty faboo. That is, if you choose to accept the challenge. You see, the clothes, while they are on the racks at Macy's, are pretty much filed away, any place they last landed. I went in with a list of dresses that I'd found online at Macy's. The staff was very sweet, but not really able to help me. Two of them just motioned toward an entire section of the store and said that "if they have it, this is where it'll be!" Ok. Thanks. Out of about 7 dresses I found online, one - the one I happened to like the least - was in the store. I probably tried on 10 dresses that I found in the store... and the ones that I liked were torn in places, the lace was bunched up or pulled, the sequins were yanked off, etc. Finally, I did find a dress that will do nicely. So, like I said - it works. After a few frustrating, sweaty, "god help the world i'm gonna blow," hours, I did find a dress. There you have it. read more

my only issue with macys as well as lord and taylor and jc penney, is that they always have 10 random registers around the store, and you go from one to another hoping an associate is near one to ring you up. theyre never actually physically at one, so you sort of need to flag somebody down to buy something. i find myself feeling lucky if im ready to buy and somebody is at a register. read more

Macy's in Freehold, New Jersey is always my store to go to especially when picking out Formal wear. Recently went there and was slightly disappointed with the short staff. I asked to speak with a manager and I was greeted by Freda Saffold. She was not only understanding and apologetic. She was amazing, extremely helpful & assisted me in picking out my dress and undergarments. I also had the opportunity to speak with Danielle Diorio afterwards regarding my mail order & she was just as amazing, friendly & extremely helpful. This location should consider themselves very fortunate to have these two extraordinary employees working there. I had an awesome shopping experience at this Macy's on Saturday. I first went into it with alot of apprehension based upon some of the spotty and bad reviews I read on here, and from asking for peoples input about their experiences here. I have to say, I was really really impressed. The managers of this Macy's should be pleased to have such professional and congenial employees, as well as the mall. They are true professionals, the employees. Always have a smile on their face, well most of them, there are a few grumps of course, but that's expected. The staff on the third floor, in particular, are the best. I got a great High Sierra backpack here that is very helpful for my college needs being that I'm a full time student. Its perfect for fitting my numerous textbooks and binders. Well done Macy's in Freehold. Kudos to you. I will definitely be shopping here again in the future, the Magic of Macy's is indeed real and alive at this location!! These employees on the third floor should be recognized for their professionalism and care to customer service. Again, I have to say it, excellent job!! I wish more stores employees in the Freehold Mall would show this positive attitude. read more
