Today was a magnificent day to do some early shopping for the holidays. Macy's had a stunning assortment of good quality clothing, staggering leather pocketbooks, remarkable party shoes, and incredible nick knacks. The merchandising was wonderful and the prices were somewhat in a reasonable range. A few impressive people working in the store were helpful and friendly. Everything in the store was clean and well organized. The only disappointment was that all the escalators seemed to be out of service. The gentlemen working on the escalators seemed just as frustrated as the customers. read more

I purchased a small purse for $31.00. I had taken off the tag but kept it along with the receipt. The sales person gave me a hard time and called the manager Who was also rude.!I was accused of using the purse which was too small. I had tried to put my belongings in it and my grandson put a cough drop in it which I didn't see. They took out the lining and asked one another if it looked used and should they put it back on sale. How embarrassing it was. I spend a lot in this store but am thinking of canceling my account.You would have thought it was an expensive handbag. Good luck to you Macys. What happened Macy's? I visited this location two times over the holiday season and was shocked at the condition of the store - both times. Clothing was all over the place including on the floor. There are so few sales associates that they are not keeping up with customers who misplace items. While I still like several of the brands that Macy's carries, the sloppy displays and general mess of the store makes me uncomfortable. Even Walmart is neater that Macy's. read more

I need a new suit for a event, and seeing that I never wear a suit , I did not want to pay a lot of money. After looking on line, I discovered that Macy's had a big sale on men's clothes. I went to the Milford store and was impressed with the selection of suits to choose from. The good thing is they had my size in stock which is unusual because I take a small size and no one has my size in stock. I worked with Lee Stuckey and he could not help me enough. He found my size in the price range I was looking at. He then helped me get the maximum discounts on my suit. Bottom line, I got a nice suit for $200. The best part it just needed minor alterations. I only need to shorten the legs on the pants. That alone saved me more money. read more

Ordered a mattress set, frame and mattress pad over five months ago from Macy's for a rental place over 3 hours away, each way. They scheduled a delivery date and a day before cancelled and made it for Sept 18 (after we had driven the 3 hours). When they arrived on Sept 18, they had not brought the correct bed frame or mattress pad. They asked my 91 year old mother if she was fine to sleep on the mattress on the floor without the frame! Unbelievable and unacceptable! I called our salesman and he tried to help. When my mom called Customer Service, she spoke to an incredibly rude man (whose tv was blaring in the background clearly working from home), he refused to get a manager and continued to talk over her. He said everything had been taken care of and she was receiving a $12 credit. Yes, a $12 credit for her issues! This is over a total bill over $1,000 She called back to cancel the entire order (since we now have to drive another 6 hours to receive the correct bedframe and mattress pad) and they couldn't even schedule that until the end of October! When she called back, no one answered except a recorded message that said all returns will be charged a $99 pick up fee and 15% restocking fee. Well that won't work! This was all Macy's fault, not ours! How do you ask a 91 year old woman to sleep on a brand new mattress on a floor when you, the company didn't send the right frame! The Macy's we dealt with now is the not the Macy's of the past. I miss Wodies and Hecht Company! We will spend our money with a company who puts the customer first, not deal with this crap! Purchased a pair of Nike shoes online. They were defective. Returned it for an exchange or refund using their online system. Got it back in the mail. They stated they couldn't refund it because it had to be unworn, unused, etc. Called to get it exchanged instead and they said now they couldn't exchange it because I already tried to refund it. What? I just want a pair of shoes that aren't defective and you won't refund or exchange them because according to you I tried the wrong method first? I really preferred an exchange and even put a note in the box saying as much. Your online system only specifies return. It didn't really let me specify exchange. And this is my fault? I lose $70 for a brand new pair of shoes that squeak loudly every time I take a step? I made two calls to Macy's. The first time I got the Philippines call center after about 20 minutes of being on hold. She said I should have called first before using their online system if I wanted an exchange. I explained that the online return system didn't tell me I had to call and isn't that the purpose of an "online" self service return system so I don't have to wait 20+ minutes on hold and to save Macy's money? I was very polite, but she just hung up on me in mid sentence. I called back, got someone in the USA. We had the same conversation and she apologized but said there was nothing she could do. I didn't like the answer but at lease she was polite and professional. So now I guess my only options are to leave a couple negative reviews on google and Yelp in hopes Macy's reaches out to me to make this right, dispute this on my CC, and contact Nike for possibly a warranty exchange since I have purchased over 50 pair of these same shoes and still have another 30 years or so on this planet(hopefully), so that is probably another 60-70 pair of NIkes that I won't be buying if this isn't made right. **UPDATE: Called Nike directly. They have a 2 year warranty policy. Sending them to Nike directly for an inspection. If all goes well, I will get a credit to use on their website to buy a new pair. read more

March 3, 2018. There is an employee in Men's - Lee - who should not be working in customer service. I had a very unpleasant encounter with him as I tried to exchange a pair of pants. Eventually the manager (Maria) and another worker (Mona) took care of me. Maria was incredibly patient while I searched for the receipt in my email. Meanwhile, Mona was polite and respectful. Both ladies embody what true customer service should be about. Lee, however, is an example of what turns people away from stores like Macy's. I recently got married and we registered at Macy's of Milford with Miss Pat. We had an excellent experience in doing the registry. She let us do our thing and then she made some really good suggestions that I would have never thought of! I stopped in after my shower to make sure that my friends and family all got coupons (and they did thanks to Pat) because we had a very expensive registry. While I waited for her another previous bride stopped Miss Pat on her way to help me. This other girl was on a mission of giving Macy's a hard time. This woman had been married for over a year and wanted to use a points reward gift card which expires a year after your wedding date. I didn't even get the program but it was explained very thoroughly when we did sign up for other promotions so even I knew it had expired a year after the wedding date. The gift card even had an expiration date on it. It had been a good year and a half since this girl's wedding so I'm not sure how she thought her hissy fit in the store was going to help. If it were me dealing with this unruly guest I would've told her some awful things but not Miss Pat. She handled this bridezilla with class and poise. Pat offered several coupons and apologized to the girl for the misunderstanding and really did try to make amends. The girl wasn't having any of it. She wasn't there for anything but free money and it was evident no one had ever told her no before. Bridezilla then tried to bestow her words of caution about having a registry at Macy's on me. I told her I didn't need her shi**y advice and it was time for her to leave. She did leave finally and poor Miss Pat looked so astonished and hurt. She was just doing her job to the best of her ability and I told her just that. I offered her words of encouragement while she gathered herself. Pat has truly helped my bridal process and I am very grateful for that. I believe she is superlative at her job and I would only recommend my friends and family register with Pat. read more

I went to the beauty department to see what they carry from a few of my favorite brands. The ladies in the perfume department we're incredibly disrespectful and we're not attentive to me and my friend I was shopping with. I asked a few times for help and the beauty advisor Said she'd be right with us. She then proceeded to help another customer that just came in after us, and when they were finished, she walked the other way and pretended not to see us. I proceeded to walk up to her and asked if there was anyone that could help me find another one of the products that I only saw one on the shelf. she looked at me and said they don't have that much stuff there today so she's not sure if there's anyone in the makeup department as she was in fragrance. She's very disrespectful, and I think that multiple members of the staff there were only interested in making commission off the expense of fragrances. Everytime I go to this Macy's there are never any employees that are available to assist me. I have never seen such terrible, inconsiderate, and careless customer service in my entire life. Employees here only care about their paycheck NOT the customers. I don't even bother looking for help anymore. Ordered some bedding. Good prices, decent sales associate. Despite the "white glove" promise, the guys who delivered were inconsistent, not on the same page, didn't comprehend what they needed to do, and were sloppy. The marketing material says they come wearing booties, so as not to track anything in from the outside. One did. Not the other, even when I mentioned he should be. Then they started bringing in the bedding, but I asked if it made more sense to first remove the old stuff. One guy said they were not removing the old bedding. I told him they are doing just that, since we paid to have that done. So they brought everything in the bedroom after almost destroying two of our bushes. Then they placed the boxspring in the frame, and it went against the wall. I cautioned him about this. I was glad when they left. read more

Once in a great while you do get the good salesperson but they are hard to find and they usually work the odd shifts. The all-time worst service I've ever had. Purchased retail value of $600 worth of merchandise. The cashier forgot to take off the EAS tagging system and I couldn't leave the store. By far the worst retail store of any brand I've ever been to. And I've been to a few crappy ones. But this is so bad it made me actually want to write a review. Customer service is terrible. Super rude, pretty much impossible to get a hold of over the phone and when I did I was immediately hung up on. I bought a wedding band, the wrong sized ring was shipped (no big deal warehouse mistakes happen). I also left a ring to be resized and was told I'd get a price quote the next day for our approval and it would be done. We made it clear we had a timeline for this and they said no problem we'll let you know a cost tomorrow and we can have it done. 5 days later and no word about the ring. The jewelry department hasn't answer 5 phone calls. 3 other departments hung up on me. And the "managers office extension" goes straight to voicemail. The location near me closed so I have to drive to 40 minutes to either Milford or Danbury. And after my experience I'm going to drive the extra 10 minutes to Danbury if I ever go back to a Macy's. read more

This Macy's was an embarrassment to the brand. I have been to about 30 around the country. Never have I seen a Macy's men's department so dirty, messy and under staffed. When I finally saw a staff member he burped really loud and smiled at me. I stood in Men's suit department for 10 minutes looking for help and nobody came near the whole section. I ABSOLUTELY agree with the other reviews! It is very true that you can never find an employee to help at this store, with the exception of the shoe section. You can walk around in search of help but it feels like a "ghost town". When you do eventually find someone, you realize that they are not conscientiously manning their area of the store for customers who may need help and then seem as though they don't want to be bothered. The people in jewelry are the worst! You can tell they don't want to be bothered. They want to just hang around and get paid for it! It is pitiful how today's society is being raised. Worst macys I have ever been to. I went in search for cufflinks. I stood around in the men's department and 2 men were working at the counter neither acknowledged me. They did however acknowledge a coworker who came in to chat I guess on his day off. Finally chose a set of cufflinks and was ready to check out but there was a lady checking out that was wearing perfume that was making me sneeze so I went in search of a new register. No register was open on men's floor. I went to the ladies floor and saw several associate all who ignored me. I finally found 1 person at a register. I asked if I could check out. She asked another worker if she was working a register and then proceeded to walk away from me. I have never seen such poor customer service. This should really be a review for the Clinique rep inside Macy's. She looked like she was 24, tan, long brown hair, rude, uneducated on products. I requested a make-over and got a combative, argumentative "consultant" who didn't know the products at all. I have black hair, black eyebrows. She showed me powder for blonde eyebrows, said there was only one way to do eyes. She kept asking me how I did my make-up so she could replicate it completely... That's not what a make-over is. This review is based solely on my experience from the Men's department. I had a question on my coupon and Macy's gift certificates and had called prior to coming in the store. I will say the phone system to speak to an actual person at Macy's is ridiculous, but when I finally got a random department I asked for a manager right away because I wanted the right answer before coming into the store. Anyways, I spoke to Claudius, he was so polite and helpful over the phone and told me to ask for him if there's any issues when I come in. I went in looking for a North face jacket for my husband, found one and the cashier had some trouble putting my " Macy's cash" through, the cashiers name I THINK was like Matthew ?? Oh man I wish I would've made sure to catch his name, he was an older gentleman working the register in the men's department where you pick up online orders. He was very nice and also so helpful. He called Claudius over the phone as I told him that's who I spoke to earlier, he came right over and took care of me.
