It was so cute and shaded, a great spot for a lunch or to hang out and enjoy some charcuterie with friends. We asked what type of meats came with the "charcuterie" option and we were told "whatever is on the slicer right now" but that they were all locally made- or at least regionally made. That works for me and both selections were delicious. We also bought the special chocolate chip/cheese cookies they had for the event and they were fantastic. What I really want to talk about is the cheese curds though. We bought some to take home (you can buy everything they use on the boards in their retail area too by the way). They're so flavorful and fresh. I'm going to make poutine with those and some fries from Heyday down the street and I expect great things. We aren't allowed to pick the cheeses but rather they pick for you. I felt for the hard cheeses we had, we needed better food pairings and I was expecting more spreadable cheeses for the bread. They do have a crumbly cheese that has mustard seeds in it which was unique and delicious. I wish they had made some cheeses in house that could taste more fresh and would be unique to that place. They were also understaffed for a Saturday evening as there was a long line to place your order and the cheese board took really long to finally come out. We didn't have anyone check back in with us anytime after our board came out to see if we needed anything more like water, bread, had questions, etc... it could have been just that night, but we just didn't get the same attention we do in some other places like this. I've gone to Urban Stead and felt the quality of the cheeses were better and their boards are cheaper for what you get in terms of amount of cheese. We had enough from the one board with 5 cheeses to fill us up. They also interacted a ton more while we were there and the cheeses are so fresh since they make them all in-house. I'm glad I tried this place out as I've always passed by and wanted to try it out. It's one thing to close early, but to post a handwritten sign calling the event "stupid" was shockingly unprofessional. It's figuratively and literally more than a bike race, it's a fundraiser that supports cancer research and survivorship through the CancerFree KIDS Pediatric Cancer Research Alliance. It brings thousands of people together for a cause that matters deeply, while also creating one of the most electric, family-friendly atmospheres you'll find in Cincinnati. From a business perspective, this was a massive missed opportunity. The streets were filled with people eager to support local shops and enjoy the events which is exactly the kind of audience any small business would hope for. Instead of welcoming that energy, Patty's turned it away and insulted the very people walking by their storefront. I love supporting small, local businesses, but this kind of response shows a disconnect from the community that makes Hyde Park special. I hope they reconsider how they respond to events like this in the future.

This place is a little unusual, but if you can get by all that, the bretzels are a pretty good…read morealternative to a boring convenience store hot dog Three businesses (maybe more) are run from one building. First, foremost, and most obviously, this is a Shell Station. However, inside you will see that there are three service minicounters - one for Shell, one for The Growler Station, and one for Hot Bretzels. So what's a bretzel? OK, since you asked so nicely -- a bretzel is nyc style hot pretzel dough formed into the shape of a hot dog bun, and can be eaten as a fairly thick breadstick or used as a hot dog bun. They make them here in the classic pretzel fashion with big crystals of salt sprinkled on, but for those worrying about their blood pressure, they also make an unsalted variety. Plain, they go for about a buck fifty each. The bretzels are hit and miss, just like Patricia said, based primarily on how fresh the bretzels are. You can buy them with or without salt, with or without a dipping sauce, and with or without a sausage/hot dog of some sort. I like the beer brat on the salted bretzel bets so far, no dipping sauce needed. In the mornings, a egg-based variety is also offered. They dont seem to have a dedicated grill or flat top, so the sausages you are getting (there are usually 4-5 varieties available) seem to be precooked (possibly elsewhere) and reheated (read as: microwaved) on demand. So - nothing to make a special visit over. But if you are in the area and just thinking about grabbing a hot dog, this is a nice alternative to the dogs on rollers at UDF and the like Service can be iffy at times as well. Many times I have been in, there is just one employee working all three counters - not 1 each, 1 total. If there is a line for gas or beer (growler) refills in such a case, you might be waiting a bit for your bretzel.
