We very much enjoyed our experience here! The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, they definitely know their cheese. I love how the plates are curated based on what they have on hand & even by your flavor palette! They do ask preferences (so if you don't want a blue cheese, just say that ). The space is small, but cute. If you're purchasing anything they do provide samples & package your purchases very nicely. Highly recommend!

UPDATE from my first review: Still going strong at The Rhined. Best cheeses around and awesome charcuterie board selections. Still on the high side of prices, but you get the quality you pay for. We usually use this as a treat for ourselves or gift cards.

I have been here a few times now, some to just pick up cheese and some to dine-in. The staff has always been knowledgeable, attentive, and welcoming. The food has been delicious! We recently got sandwiches, the Thanksgiving-style (Brie, cranberry, Turkey) and the raclette... yummm!

I'm a cheese freak. I love all things cheese - so I was happy when we stopped in The Rhined while shopping in Findlay Market. I've read/heard great things and they were all correct. This place is awesome! Firstly, I need to point out the service. It was fantastic! The young man behind the counter greeted us warmly when we walked in and then enthusiastically described some of the cheeses they had in the case while we browsed, recommending some based on our tastes. We picked out 5 different cheeses - Bijou, Brabander Reserve - Black Betty, Prairie Breeze, Manchego and Rattlesnake. We also bought a small bag of Crostini and a small jar of jam, Cherry Habanero Jam. All of the cheeses are delicious! The jam is really good too. I'll be back again for more great cheese and great service!

Looking forward to placing our order.

3ish overall rating First off, a lovely addition to Finley market. You can pop in for any hosting charcuterie needs, wine or sparkling wine. Bring your "green." This place reminded me a bit of a neighborhood cafe in a small town in Italy. Pop in for quality meats, combined with cheeses and spreads to your sandwich with a glass of vino. With very minimal seating! Missing were more options to stand as you would down an alley in Rome. And the sounds of music in the background and servers aware of your every need. The Grinder is what carried the most weight of my rating because it was outstanding. Amazing! So many ingredients, flavors and textures that married together excellently and hugged the heart of this sandwich with the softest bread. We loved it! The second sandwich, whose name I already forgot competed with itself. It was too tangy and the combination of ingredients over-shadowed each other. The entire experience made no sense. The main reason it hovered a 3 was because of the service. I sat at the bar and watched 3 servers work, and I often had to ask for what i needed. Our drinks were never replenished or were we asked if we needed anything. We wanted to experience this place so we shared plates and had them delivered in courses. Yet, they only brought us one plate for two people. What? Our station was not pre-bussed either. And like Europe, we had to ask for our check. I got deli service with 4-star restaurant pricing. I'll consider returning in warmer temps to experience the bistro style seating outside in hopes the service is more client aware and delivers on the 4 or 5 rating many gave this place.

one of Cincinnati's very very very best. the crew is so knowledgeable and helpful. they always have a smile on their face and are surely to put a smile on yours. I came in years and years ago and fell in love with Prairie Breeze which was my gateway cheese to my cheese addiction. now I gladly let the cheesemongers take the lead and they always come up with a tasty adventure. you can tell them what kind of cheese you like and they will happily recommend something for you. come in with an open mind and you're really in for a treat. oh and DON'T skip out on their sandwiches! I dream about Campbell Alley. grab a seat in the cozy space or sit out back in the secret patio. the perfect spot on a beautiful day!

    Amazing meats and cheese!

Yum! Amazing cheeses and meats, wine, beer, nuts, fruits, and lots of other items. The name was so cute, so we ventured in. Thrilled we did!! Great employees who were fun, knowledgeable and very nice! Delicious!!

What I don't like about bacon is the rhined

One thing I don't like about orange peel... is the Rhined. I mean rind. I know that this is the pride and joy of this area and I understand why because they do have an amazing selection of local stuff. But I was very spoiled by growing up in England where you can get some of the most amazing cheeses and meats you'll ever have in your life and they're a lot cheaper than this for the most part. Because of that I can never give a place like this five stars - however for the uniqueness and originality and local flavour I do give a 4. A lot of the local cheeses - to me - while their heart is in the right place - are more like two or three stars when you actually taste them compared to the stuff that I grew up with. I'm not into wine at all so I can't judge that but I can appraise the prices here and they are pretty high. Maybe in New York City or San Francisco this would be an average price place or even cheaper. But in Cincinnati it's expensive. And you can look at the demographics that are coming here and you can see for yourself that it's not a place for the majority of Cincinnati locals, especially people who live near OTR... it's a place for the well-to-do of Cincinnati. Flying the flag for gentrification and all. The stuff isn't particularly healthy for you either (I still don't think humans were meant to eat meats and cheeses, especially processed salted meats, but I still do sometimes and enjoy them), but having said that there are a few gems here if you look hard enough and it is an adorable shop and the people in here were friendly even though I didn't have the beard or tattoos to match the rest of the cool clientele.

When I'm having a bad day, week, month... the answer is always The Rhined. All I need is a cheese board and a glass of wine in the courtyard and all is well. The courtyard feels like I'm in a different world and i can forget about life for a while. I do also enjoy sitting at the counter and chatting with the cheesemongers. They are so friendly and knowledgeable and kind. I always order a "cheesemongers favorite" board and tell them a cheese mood I'm in, and they ALWAYS come back with a perfect board for my current state of being. I have recently loved their fresh mozzarella nights and I come as often as I can. Stephanie Webster also has a couple other projects- Oakley Wines and Bloom Room- that I also love and tie nicely with The Rhined. Thanks for making my cheese dreams come true!

You can place an order ahead of time, but I was just in the neighbored and made an impulse stop. It's a small store, so I had to wait outside until the group before me was done, but it was a nice day so I didn't mind. I got the cheese curbside pick up cheese tray. It was a beautiful selection with a variety of nuts and fruits and garnishes. It also came with a pack of crostini's that were delicious. I recommend this shop for all your cheese needs!

Grinder and brie and fig sandwich

My husband and I stopped in on a beautiful Saturday night around 7:00pm. We were in luck and snagged a little table on the back patio. The other guests were finishing up and we ended up having the patio to ourselves. I enjoyed a summer flight of wines and my husband a beer. We shared the Grinder and another sandwich with brie and fig jam... Their menu is small, but anything you order is delicious! Lilly, our server was friendly and added to the enjoyment. I highly recommend The Rhined for exceptional wine, cheese, and atmosphere.

If you want great quality, amazing service and beautiful charcuterie boards, you MUST go to The Rhined. They were amazing to work with and the boards were loved by all of our guests. The cheese...OMG...the cheese is sooo good! We will definitely use them for future meetings and HIGHLY recommend you try them out. Take a gander at these beautiful boards from our meeting.

I will be making time in my schedule to go back. We ordered the small cheeseboard and added charcuterie. It contained their 3 main cheeses as well as small bits of fruit, nuts, and other goodies that were located with the cheeses that they would complement. We asked what type of meats came with the "charcuterie" option and we were told "whatever is on the slicer right now" but that they were all locally made- or at least regionally made. That works for me and both selections were delicious. We also bought the special chocolate chip/cheese cookies they had for the event and they were fantastic. What I really want to talk about is the cheese curds though. We bought some to take home (you can buy everything they use on the boards in their retail area too by the way). He dramatically stormed the back entrance of his work station to approach us in the common area of the market to "beat our asses." We have since learned that his name is Sid. That's him in the blue cap. Why? Twenty minutes earlier, we'd stood in a long customer line that went all the way back to the next vendor. Sid repeatedly ignored the line by helping random customers who congregated in front of the line. After waiting an inordinate amount of time, he finally worked his way to us, and that's when I decided to call it to his attention. I wasn't rude or nasty; he just didn't like being called out! "Do you want to place an order or not" he says. I ignored his surliness and attempted to place an order. "Just shut up already" he added before I could get my words out. He pushed the final button, and for a hot minute, I sank to his level; we traded profanities and then I left with my companion. We didn't have to think too long to decide that his flagrant display of disrespect was not acceptable. We chose to launch a formal complaint. To show exactly who we were dealing with, we came back to snap his picture. We told him that he didn't get to treat us with such disregard and expect us to spend our money with Gibbs. That's the moment he lost his mind! Before the situation escalated any further, we left the establishment again, this time seeking the assistance of John Bird, the director of Market Operations, at Findlay Market. Mr. Bird assured us that he would talk with Claire and Jeff, the Gibbs owners, but warned that any disciplinary actions would be up to them. Weeks went by, and we decided to reach out to Gibbs ourselves. Over the phone, Jeff acknowledged that he definitely heard from several sources what happened. He gave us a weak apology and tried to justify Sid's behavior. We all have bad days, but there is no justification for Sid's arrogance, anger, and unprofessionalism. We're not of the customer-is-always-right school, but Sid was WRONG! It was an ugly and extremely uncomfortable situation. We shop at the market on a weekly basis, and don't feel as if we have to tip around a powder keg. Perhaps that's how Gibbs feels about their repeat customers. Perhaps that's how they do business these days - a tap on the wrist for ugliness that would've gotten anyone else fired! Yes, we think Sid should be FIRED! Oh, and might I add the employee pictured in the red cap cursed us and royally gave us the middle finger as we walked away. For all of these reasons, we're no longer Gibbs' customers - and Jeff agreed that was a determination we had to make. Now that you know what we experienced, perhaps you will choose to be a former Gibbs customer as well. As easily as it happened to us, it could happen to you!
