I would not ever go to Madman McKay's again. I took my truck in for two problems and they suggested to me that I buy new speakers and a harness to fix these problems. Upon completion of the work I drove away with the same two problems and I paid $270.00 to not fix them. They did however offer to fix the problems for another $600.00. So basically for a total of about $900.00 but they guaranteed it would be fixed, I would hope so for that amount of money. The manager also said that anywhere else it would cost upwards of $1200.00 to fix these problems as he has seen them before. I declined his offer and instead took him up on the offer to refund me my money. Long story short I took it to Pure Audio in Courtenay and they fixed both problems for $285,00. I am very disappointed in my local business as I do believe in shopping and purchasing locally, however it did not work for me this time. read more

The manager at the Campbell River store has no customer service skills. The other staff that I dealt with were great. My first experience with this guy was when I brought my old car in to upgrade my speakers. I found Glenn's sales approach very pushy and insensitive to my specific needs. He proceeded to way oversell me on things I did not ask for or want. So I left the store. I was back in recently because the dealership where I bought my car agreed to upgrade the sound system. I went in and got the same arrogant attitude. Him telling me what I needed. Trying to sell me a power amp that I know is not necessary. In the end I was overcharged for the whole job including $250 for a harness that was required to allow the steering wheel controls to function with the new deck. Well, there are some controls that still do not function. A decent honest (and knowledgeable) salesperson would have at least mentioned that up front. Then I could have made the decision to skip the harness. They also didn't get the Aux input and USB jacks working. Why wasn't I told about that either. I paid $399 for labour and another shop charge of $39.99, and a Misc charge of $39. I would not trust this guy and will go somewhere else where they understand customer service. read more
