This place is a great healthy option for lunch but it gets extremely busy. I walked by for lunch and it was packed so I came back a half hour later. There were still a lot of people there but the line wasn't bad so I got my meal to go. The Fajita Barbacoa was tasty and there were other options of the menu that looked good as well. I'd come back if I was in the area and needed a healthier meal option.

"Dill with it" salad (quinoa puffs instead of flax seeds) $12 and a strawberry lemonade $2.75.

I had lunch at Mad Radish recently and the food was good, but I have to agree with Mary P. that the washrooms were filthy. There was urine all over the seat and on the floor. I had to use like half a roll of toilet paper to wipe up the pee on the seat and then make a toilet paper nest on the seat so I could sit down without feeling gross. And it's a huge disconnect too, because the place is brand spanking new and you would think everything would be clean. I went to the washroom at the end of my visit, after finishing my meal. Had I gone before ordering, I would have turned around and walked out. This place's saving grace is that the food was great. I had the "Dill with It" salad ($12) which had mixed greens, new potatoes, green beans, asparagus, tomatoes, sunflower seeds and a soft boiled egg. It's supposed to come with flax seeds, but I substituted that for puffed quinoa. I just realized on the menu it says it contains broccoli, but mine didn't have any for some reason. It was all tossed in a lemon and dill yogurt dressing. The salad was tasty and really filling. I had a Strawberry Lemonade ($2.75) as well. It was nice and refreshing. It wasn't too sour, nor too sweet. I saw actual strawberry seeds in it, so I'm glad that they use real strawberries and not artificial syrup. This restaurant is cashless. They only take credit cards and debit. Staff were nice. I love that their cutlery, bowls and cups are all compostable. I would have given this place 4 stars had it not been for the washroom situation. I thought maybe it was a one-off and they had a customer with really poor aim who apparently didn't even have time to lift up the seat (the washrooms are gender neutral. There is no way that someone who was actually sitting on the toilet could have made that kind of mess), but then I read Mary P.'s review and it looks like dirty washrooms is an on-going problem :(

Last week I tried their new Piri Piri Bowl with Piri Piri Tofu and it was reallyyy good!! Service was really speedy too!

Take a look at this ginger chicken salad

Well done Yelp for the recommendation. One of us has severe restrictions, the other not so. The ginger chicken salad was fresh, crunchy and tasty. Actually the word "amazing" was used. I had the cauliflower butter curry. Tasty and filling. Stuff here might seem a little above the basic price but your soul will thank you for making all the right culinary, ecological and spiritual choices.

Salads done right. I had the chicken heater (?) bowl and it was good! Not $15 good but good. Certainly stingy with the chicken. Could have used a few more solid strips in there. Friendly and fast service (I went at 2pm and it was dead quiet). Nice clean restaurant. I'm not rushing back but happy to have tried it.

This restaurant is conveniently located near Parliament Hill and very much reminds me of Freshii. With food, they have multiple bowls or salads that you can choose from. As well as a selection of soup! I got their child bowl which was delicious and my friend got their chicken salad bowl which looked great too! I'd highly recommend getting the soup. The bread though I'd recommend skipping because it was quite dry and hard.

Great vegetarian and vegan dishes in downtown Ottawa! Moroccan stew and falafel salad were both delicious. They even have their own app for quick ordering.

For my last meal here, I decided to check out this popular bowl / salad spot in downtown Ottawa. I was excited to check out another salad / bowl place as I love food that is both delicious and healthy! Atmosphere: 4/5 Simple, bright, modern and a busy spot during the lunch hour! Luckily, there were still a number of seats so it was easy to have a quick and comfortable meal. It was nice to see how busy this place was, but the line also moved relatively quickly. I like that their bowls and cutlery are all compostable. Food: 4/5 I had the smoked salmon bowl which was good - good portion size and delicious; fresh and customizable with good variety of ingredients Service: 3.5/5 Busy but efficient; line moved quickly; pre-ordering also available Price: 2.5/5 Slightly overpriced in my opinion for the amt and type of ingredients but the food was good Overall: 3.5/5 It was nice to check out another convenient salad / bowl place here in Ottawa - good, creative and delicious combinations, which are also healthy...however the bowls are a bit overpriced in my opinion. Nevetheless, I would love to try some of their other bowls for lunch

Bult my own salad- Added spicy chicken which is not exactly spicy but overall the salad tastes really good. Its absolutely fresh and they had a variety of options to choose from. Definitely recommend trying out when in Downtown.

This was my first time at mad radish, and though I had high hopes I was pretty let down with my meal. I order the ginger chicken salad which I was hoping would be tangy, flavourful and full of crunch. Unfortunately it was not any of that. It just tasted like lettuce and carrots tossed around with 2 or 3 pieces of chicken. For a 15$ salad I was expecting much more!! My suggestions: add more zest, more ginger and don't be cheap with the chicken!!! I would also use whole or halved cashes instead of small cashew pieces because you don't really get the taste or crunch with all the mixed salad in there. I would think about adding crispy noodles to this one, similar to the tortilla that the Mexican chicken option has.

I had the Falafel salad and while the ingredients are fresh, the falafel patties are tough and dry. A little disappointing.

Featuring: - Quebec pork country pâté - smooth and delicious, the condiments/sides adds depth and complexity to the dish - Burrata and Peperonata - cheese was super fresh and that pepeonata - I don't like olives normally but Loved it on this! - Humboldt squid calamari - amazing squid - lightly battered and the cucumber salad underneath adds a refreshing tone - town meatballs - just as good as I remembered it the first time, swipe to see how large that meatball is My server also recommend one of the best raspberry beers I've ever had. This Pure Kitchen location on Elgin Street was their second location (they have 5 altogether now)…read more It opened in June 2016 where Maxwell's Bistro and Club used to be. It's fairly big inside, with a mix of tables (some round, some rectangular), booths and bar seating. The front windows open completely, and in the summer months they open it up, so you can sit inside, but still get some fresh air. Admittedly, I've only ever gotten takeout here. They have a fridge where you can grab stuff to go. They also have a freezer where you can grab frozen stuff to cook at home. It's a vegetarian restaurant. They have mostly wraps, sandwiches and salads. They have lots of cold pressed juices as well. All their menu items have inspirational names like Transformed, Energized, Renewed, etc. I've had most of their wraps, sandwiches and juices and everything is good (except for one juice that had parsley in it, which I thought it was gross, but everything else has been good). Some items are sometimes too salty for my tastes, but sometimes not. I guess it depends on who's making it, lol. My favourite salad is the Transformed Kale Caesar salad. My favourite wrap is the Blissful Burrito. My favourite juice is the Electrify (beet, pineapple, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger). I love that after eating their food I feel full, but not bloated and gross, lol. Definitely recommend for vegetarian food. It's a bit pricey though. Expect to pay $15+ for a salad/wrap and a 16 oz juice is $10+. Street parking only.

The Short Version: Small casual vegetarian restaurant…read moreinside an International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple. Very affordable and food tasted good. The Long Version: I feel like many large urban cities have a restaurant called Govinda's that is inside an International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple (these were called Hare Krishna temples when I was growing up). This one is in Ottawa. I've been to the one in Toronto. And I know there's one in Montreal, although I've never been there. All these restaurants are of the same concept. They serve vegetarian food, it's usually a buffet, and the prices are very affordable. At this Govinda's the all you can eat buffet is $14 or $12 if you're a student (need to show student card) or a senior (65 or over, I'm assuming if you look young for your age they might ask for ID, lol). The takeout price is $10 and you get a tray with a little bit of everything. I got the take out tray. The takeout tray contained white basmati rice, pasta salad, green salad, daal, a kidney bean curry, some stewed cabbage, and a piece of banana bread. It was quite a lot of food for just $10. And what I really liked about it is that the curries were not oily at all. I find a lot of curries way too oily but these ones were great. The lentil curry (daal) and the bean curry were very flavourful. The stewed cabbage was good too. The green salad had romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and tiny pieces of bell pepper. It came with a creamy salad dressing. A bit too much salad dressing for my liking, but it wasn't too soggy and the dressing wasn't too oily. The pasta salad had some tofu crumble in it. It was okay but had a strange medicinal taste to it. The best part was the banana bread. It was a little crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Very delicious and not greasy at all. The dining room is small and feels like you're at a friend's house in the basement. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Some people are hesitant to go to these restaurants as they think those belonging to the temple may try to "convert" them. This has never happened to me neither in Ottawa or in Toronto. Be advised that you must remove your shoes and leave them in the boot trays in the foyer before entering the restaurant or the rest of the temple. So don't wear your Louboutins or Jimmy Choos, LOL. And make sure you wear matching socks with no holes in them. Haha. This location is on a residential street and in the University of Ottawa area. All other customers during my visit were students. I feel this place is a hidden gem. It serves healthy, delicious and inexpensive vegetarian food, so I'm a huge fan. Street parking only. Review #52 (2026)
