    Dip!!
    Christine C.

Cute place, creative food, friendly staff! We had been at the MEC doing way too much shopping and we thought, let's check this out. We shared a bean/chip dip that was pretty good. Not too spicy, but it definitely had some kick to it in spots. I had a burger that was soooo good. I had a side salad that was perfect too. THe food is delicious. And I can appreciate that the burger was made with nuts and mushrooms and not some imposter meat. I love when a kitchen can be more creative than the alternatives. My husband had a burrito? It was okay. But not my speed normally. The dinning area was small and cozy. So be prepared to be sitting close to others. It was bright, well lit, clean bathroom, can't complain. It was a great visit!

Being a carnivore, I have been procrastinating trying this restaurant out. Looking at the menu made me cringed, the name of the dish is just not what they are..... cauliflower wings are obviously not wings.... I was even skeptical of ordering a glass of wine (pinot gris). Would it be just a glass of grape juice and with ZERO alcohol in it? To my surprise, I enjoyed my meal. We ordered 2 appetizers: cauliflower wings (with Korean BBQ, and Spicy Gochujang sauce) were tasty, they had enough crispiness to them. We also had poutine, with real" potato and gravy (the real deal!!!). I also ordered bibimbap, not my favorite, but not bad, i had enough cauliflower in one night, so I switched out cauliflower rice with brown rice. It was favorful, I managed to finish the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, the food was good. Just not my cup of tea. Great customer service! And the price is decent as well ($40 per person). Worth trying it out!

I have friends who love this place but I just can't get into it. The price is high for what it is - vegetables, and juices. Specifically, vegetarian dishes and smoothies that you can ultimately make at home. Their famous cauliflower wings is good, but I managed to make similar dupe with air fryer and teriyaki sauce. The bibimbap was okay, but again, I'm sure I can whip up something that taste almost the same at home for fraction of the price. I really don't know what the hype of this place is about. Service was okay and the food was honestly just okay. I respect that it's a mainstream restaurant for people who eat out to try to eat healthier. I also respect it's helping cut the carbon footprint by providing widely received vegetarian meals. But the vibe of the place feels it cater to the fru fru hipsters, gen z with complicated dietary restrictions from too much googling, and vegans who needs everyone to know they're vegans. As a meat-eater-gluten-lover who only gets their fruit doses through bubble teas, I'm just not their demographic.

My husband and I enjoyed a funky dinner at this restaurant.last week. We started with a cauliflower dish which has a sweet flavor to die for followed by a burger and a noodle dish. We shared the dishes family style and found that this was enough food for two. The noodles are served in a bowl and 'the burger' on the plate. Because the restaurant is located by connecting two different buildings, going to the washroom and entering/ leaving the restaurant was quit interesting. We highly recommend the inventiveness if the kitchen.

Delicious vegetarian and vegan restaurant. Even my skeptical meat-loving family members enjoyed their meal here. By the looks of it, the restaurant is also a local favorite - even at around 4:00pm on a Saturday the restaurant was packed! If there's one thing you need to try here, try the Radical Cauliflower Wings appetizer. These tasty, crispy bites of cauliflower are smothered in your choice of sweet Korean bbq sauce or classic Buffalo hot sauce and served up with a side of dressing. Great starter to the meal. For my entree I ordered the Royale with Cheese burger and upgraded the regular side salad to a side of Transformed salad. I liked the burger, which had an earthy but slightly sweet mushroom walnut patty in it. The Transformed salad was decent, but it didn't taste very memorable overall. Food is on the pricier side here, but it feels acceptable for what it is. Next time I'm in the area I'd be happy to come back to try more menu options.

Cauliflower Wings - half and half sauce

It was fairly quiet when we went. It was at 7pm on a Friday. Tables are separate by plexiglass which was awesome and they require you to check in on an app. So make sure you bring your phone. The menu is also through your phone. We ordered the cauliflower wings which were amazing. We decided on half and half for the sauce. The sweet sauce was great but the spicy sauce was quite spicy. Next I order the royale burger and a side of belle poutine which were surprisingly really good! My husband ordered the falafel wrap with a side of soup of the day (dal). Disclaimer very filling so don't over order. We ended up only eating half of the burger and the wrap. Brought the rest home. Awesome service. Would go back again.

Great spot for vegan options, lots of lunch/dinner options along with fresh juices, smoothies and more. Their rooftop patio has a great view of Westboro!

Having finished my pilgrimage to MEC across the street, the sun was setting on a very cold night and I was too lazy to search for a restaurant. My laziness paid off -- it often does -- and Pure Kitchen called me into its brightly lighted interior. I was a vegan for almost ten years and, if I was smarter, I would resume the lifestyle because my health was superb during that time. The menu looked good and the crowded dining area suggested that I wouldn't be disappointed. I ordered a Funky Monkey smoothie and Royale Burger. I'm not a smoothie fan but the secret ingredients in this one are addicting. The split pea soup that accompanied the Royale Burger was a satisfying bowl of comfort as the temperatures dipped even further outside. The final surprise was the burger: it was the best I've ever had. When I told the young waitress, she probably thought I was just being polite. Nope, honestly, this was really good. If the rest of the menu is as amazing as these three items, I look forward to being overwhelmed when I make a point of visiting here on my next visit.

Wanted to grab a healthy bite to eat, so we decided to try Pure Kitchen out for the first time. Although it's a little more on the pricey side, the portions were perfect. The host sat us on the street bar top, which was a great atmosphere. Food was great, service was awesome! Definitely give it a try!

Food was great, got the liberty Buffalo cauliflower wrap and it was delicious. It was a big portion and I got it with the half fries and half kale Caesar salad. The salad and fries were good too, I could've gotten just the sides and been satisfied! Gave four stars because the wait was pretty long.

Everyone knows how much I love meat. But, the food served here is so delicious and flavorful that if I had to go vegan, I'd have no regrets. And, the service is friendly and fast! Today's meal consisted of roasted red pepper soup, followed by a peanut butter cup, and a cup of coffee. Seems like a small amount of food but It was very satisfying and didn't leave me wanting more.

Pure kitchen is my kryptonite! My partner would say, that's an understatement. Everything about this place is perfect. A great place for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians! Both Elgin and Richmond locations are perfect. Thank you.

This vegetarian place can give meat places a run for their money. You can find great vegan options on the menu as well. Quality is excellent and I recommend making a reservation since the place is always busy. The menu is very creative, the food is of great quality and the presentation excellent as well. Highly recommend dining here if you are in the area.

TL;DR: Delicious ramen at newly opened (summer of 2024) place in Westboro…read more I've had Koichi Ramen Westboro twice now. The first time, I was surfing UberEats for deals, as I often do, and saw that Koichi Ramen Westboro was having a BOGO offer, $20.90 for 2 bowls of their Signature Ramen. So that's what I got for my husband and I for dinner. I ordered and picked up. It was ready in about 10-15 minutes. Pick up was quick and staff were courteous The ramen was fantastic! You get to choose your protein and I was thrilled that chicken breast was an option because I don't like pork belly, which is the usual meat in ramen. The ramen also came with bamboo, black fungus, bean sprouts, nori and green onions. The ramen was springy and chewy. They were generous with the sliced chicken breast. And the broth was so rich and flavourful. You get to choose the spice level and I got medium, which was perfect. It had a bit of a spicy kick, but not overwhelmingly hot. Be warned that there are sesame seeds in the broth, but luckily for me for takeout they separate the broth and all the sesame seeds settled at the bottom so I was able to just scoop the broth from the top so I avoided the sesame seeds. I definitely recommend the Signature Ramen! There's plenty of seating in the restaurant and the decor is simple but nice. A week later, I went back for round 2, lol. This time I tried the Vegetarian Curry Ramen, with chicken breast as my protein. It was also BOGO on UberEats and was a bit less than the Signature Ramen at $19.75. This ramen came with Bok Choy, corn, mushrooms, bean sprouts, a sheet of Nori and some green onions. I got it the same medium spice, but it tasted significantly hotter, lol. This Ramen was also delicious and I still have a hard time deciding which one I enjoyed more. I loved them both! So I also recommend the Curry Ramen! And since the broth is vegetarian, if you get tofu as your protein, the whole bowl can be vegetarian. Street parking only. (130)

It's definitely boutique-y as opposed to bargain-y if you know what I mean, lol. My husband loves their Jamaican beef patties, which are "homemade" as opposed to the highly processed stuff sold at supermarkets. I personally find them too greasy, but they are very flakey and filled with more meat than any other Jamaican beef patty I've ever seen! Their donuts are just ok, in my opinion, nothing remarkable. If you like European-style potato salads, I think you might like the potato salad at Piggy Market. The potatoes are firmer and it's less mayonnaise-y than North American potato salad. Their prepared meals are good to grab and go, but a bit pricey for what they are, in my opinion. For example, their vegetarian poke bowl is $14.50, which is about the same price as freshly prepared and customizable vegetarian bowls elsewhere. Pricing, aside, the food at Piggy Market is generally tasty. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The shop is on a side street off the main drag. I had the lunch buffet both times. The cost for the lunch buffet on our most recent visit was $14.95 a person. The restaurant is in a little converted house and the buffet is small, so don't go expecting something huge like Tandoori Flame in Brampton, lol. The main buffet had 10 dishes: vegetable pakora, peas pulao (rice with peas), mixed vegetable curry, chana masala (chickpea curry), matar paneer (paneer cheese and peas), dahl (lentil curry), butter chicken, chili chicken, tandoori chicken and naan. The supplemental buffet had pappadam, raw onions and cucumbers, raita, various sauces and chutneys, watermelon slices, and Gulab Jamun. The food was hot (in temperature), rich and flavourful. However, nothing I had was spicy. The tandoori chicken was really moist, not dry at all, which is the case at some restaurants. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, and I liked the pieces of almonds that were in the sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to see chili chicken on the buffet. It was a bit oily, but still good. The chickpea curry was labeled "black chana" and was in fact black. I actually thought it was black beans when I first saw it. I had never had "black chana" before, but it tasted like regular chana masala to me. The paneer with peas was so good. Really rich and full of flavour. The vegetable pakora were crispy, as were the pappadam (which were broken into smaller pieces). The naan was hot, freshly made, and so good. They brought us a basket and we pretty much ate the whole thing. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't any kheer for dessert. The only dessert they had was watermelon and Gulab Jamun, which I'm not a fan of, but my brother is and he liked it. I would have loved some Barfi or Jalebi. Oh well. Service was very nice and attentive. Our waters were refilled automatically without us having to ask. The restaurant is small and cozy. My only complaint is that it was uncomfortably warm in the restaurant (it was a September afternoon). There are a limited number of parking spots at the front of the restaurant, but they are on Churchill, slightly north of Carling, so getting out of the parking lot may be tricky. There is street parking on some side streets nearby (look at the signage because some streets do not allow street parking during the day on weekdays). They have the lunch buffet 7 days a week from 11:30am-2pm. They have a second location on Alta Vista near Industrial, which I have not been to.

Slices are $4 each or $5 with a can of pop. 2 slices is $8 or $9 with a can of pop, so no discount if you buy more. However, they do have a pickup discount, which is the equivalent amount to the taxes you would pay. So essentially if you pick up, they pay the tax :) The Hot Turkey sandwich platter was really good. It came with fries and coleslaw. I liked that the coleslaw was vinegar based and not mayo based. It was mostly cabbage with a bit of carrot. I enjoyed it. The fries were just regular fries but they were crispy and good. The sandwich had real turkey breast meat in it (can you believe that I once ordered a hot turkey sandwich and it was a deli meat turkey sandwich covered in gravy?!? Obviously not at this restaurant, lol). The bread was the regular white sandwich bread, but what really set this sandwich apart was the delicious peppery gravy. Man, that stuff is really good! The pizza was good too. They put toppings under the cheese here, which is not my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The donair was thick pieces and tasted more like sausage, but it was still good. The sauce has a distinct flavour to it, which I can't pinpoint, but I liked it. The crust was crispy and even though the crust was thicker than I usually like, I still enjoyed it. I liked that the slice came in a cute cardboard box. The platter came in an aluminum container, but the lid was styrofoam. I'm not a fan of styrofoam, I would have preferred a foil-backed cardboard lid. Service was friendly and I got my food pretty quickly. The restaurant is a strip of businesses along Carling Ave just west of Churchill Ave N. There's free parking at the back of the strip. There's a sign and you have to turn in before you actually see the strip of businesses (Georgie's, Sapporo Sushi, and a few other businesses). If you turn into the parking lot after the strip, that one actually belongs to a different strip mall (the one with Markie's Smoked Meat and Mr. Sub). There are signs indicating you can only park there if you are going to a business in that strip mall. Not sure what enforcement is like, but why chance it if there's also free parking in the proper place, right? Since there's a huge median along this part of Carling Ave, you can only access the restaurant if you are driving westbound on Carling. Georgie's has its main entrance on Carling but there's also a back entrance from the parking lot.

We started off with the Crispy Brassicas ($20). It was Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli. With a sprinkling of pistachio nuts. It came with hummus and creme fraiche on the side. It was really good and made us feel virtuous that we were eating our vegetables, haha. I got the the pan-seared pickerel ($37). The pickerel was tender, flakey and very tasty. It came in a lemon butter caper sauce and was accompanied by peas, roasted potatoes and roasted cauliflower and broccoli, all of which were delicious. The portion size was European (read small, compared to what we are used to in North America, lol). My husband got the braised beef short ribs ($38). It came with roasted beets and a potato cake. I had a taste of his dish and it was also delicious. The beef was tender and the potato cake was great. It was shredded potatoes and the whole thing was deep fried. The inside was soft and creamy and the outside was crispy. I could have just had a whole plate of these potato cakes, haha. The portion size of this dish was also...European. The food was delicious, but the portion sizes were small in my opinion. After us spending over $100 on dinner I was still hungry, lol. I need to shrink my appetite or grow my wallet ;) Service was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The space is nice and decorated with several real live plants. A great place for a date. Brassica opened up after the owner's previous restaurant, Allium, closed down due to a fire. We had dined at Allium and really enjoyed it, so we weren't surprised that we liked Brassica. We're not really sure why it took us 5 years to try it though. Especially since it's in our neighbourhood. Brassica opened in early 2020. Prior to that it was Vittoria in the Village. It was Lapointe's Fish House before that and Fratelli's before that (Fratelli's moved further east on Richmond Rd). We weren't living in the 'hood prior to that ;) Street parking only. Review #130 (2025)

Anybody else missing Allium?…read more I got you! The Allium crew have opened up a new place on Richmond Rd in the old Vittoria in the Village space called Brassica. I think it opened Friday night. I was lucky enough to get in Saturday night and enjoyed an excellent night there. The restaurant still has a lot of the classic dishes from Allium like the mushrooms on toast, beef tartar, a couple of salads, duck confit and steak. Our table ended up ordering all of the above (minus the steak) and roast chicken, fried chicken, a cavatelli dish, fried cauliflower and a couple of others. They were all up to their old standards and more. There looked to be more than a handful of new dishes we didn't have a chance to try like shrimp spaghetti and a few others. Additionally there was a brunch menu which looked great and I'll have to book that sooner rather than later. Staff and service were excellent as well.
