I'm sure if I'd said it was urgent they'd have tried to come sooner. They came out a week or so after I called to check things out and give me a quote. That guy, Matt, and the later handyman were friendly and efficient. Then another few weeks till they came out. I got the disposal and they installed it, plus added a plug under the sink and fixed the wall switch. Took an hour or so. This is the only handyman our dogs haven't barked at when they got here, and never did. He said he has dogs, but sometimes ours go nuts no matter what, on just hearing or smelling a stranger. The roof took maybe half an hour. Again, professional and efficient. Prices seem a little high to me, but it's been awhile since I hired anyone so this may be the new normal. And I used to be able to do some of this stuff but can't now, so, I have to pay someone sometimes. Worth it to have it taken care of.

Buyer Beware - Do Your Homework Before Hiring This Company…read more I don't typically write negative reviews, but after my experience, I feel a responsibility to warn others. I hired this company to remove and replace my residential roof. At the time, it was a significant investment, and I trusted that I was getting quality workmanship. Fast forward 10 years, and I've discovered a serious issue: faulty ridge vent installation that has led to improper attic ventilation and ultimately mold growth, as confirmed by my insurance company. When I brought this to their attention, I wasn't met with concern or even a willingness to discuss the issue--just a flat refusal to engage because "too much time has passed." Here's the reality: Homeowners don't routinely climb into their attics to inspect ventilation systems unless there's a problem. These types of installation defects can go unnoticed for years until they become costly--and potentially hazardous--issues. What's most disappointing is not just the problem itself, but the complete lack of accountability or customer support when a legitimate concern is raised. My advice to anyone considering this company: Ask detailed questions about ventilation systems, not just shingles Get everything documented clearly Understand what kind of workmanship guarantee (if any) truly exists And most importantly, choose a company that will stand behind their work long after the job is done A roof isn't just a purchase--it's a long-term investment in your home. Make sure you're working with a company that treats it that way. I wish I had known then what I know now.

It's an older home so exhaust fans were not the standard in the 1950's. Initially he was responsive and came out to look at the project. He showed up on time and spent literally 2 minute in the home. Unfortunately I was on my way home hoping to run into him but was running 5 minutes behind from the appointment time. My wife sati he walked in asked one question and walked out. Gave her a card and said I'll provide a quote in a week. He said he would run the exhaust through the soffit which is an acceptable alternative but the best method is straight up through the roof. Anyways. I waited a week and a half and did not receive any communication. I reached out for a quote and to try and get install dates. I did not hear anything for 5 days so reached out again. I also sent him the exact exhaust fan My wife wanted as he never talked to me about the project nor asked questions . I was willing to even get the exhaust myself to ensure we had the right one. He did respond after the third Attempt about one week after the first. He says thanks for reaching out and that he would have a quote the next day. Another seven days went by and nothing. I did a final reach out and he went unresponsive. Pretty pathetic business practice and I would not recommend him to anybody. I can't say anything about his workmanship but with the unprofessional communication I would rather not work with anyone who can't keep their word. I would have have been ok he just manned up and said I am not interested in the project instead of wasting a consumers time.

This review will never do justice to the Dave Richards Home Improvement Co. We were quite hesitant…read moreto even start such a large construction project in our home. We had never had this level of work done within our home. Ashley (Project Manager) and Dave were the 2nd company to submit a bid on our basement remodel (thanks to Angi's List). They came in with very impressive ideas and were extremely transparent with cost figures from the get-go. Meeting Ashely and Dave felt like meeting long lost members of our family. We had a rare comfort level with them right away. The demo of the basement started right on schedule. The team that worked on our basement were comprised of diligent, respectful professionals that kept us updated at all times. Mikey, Tom, Flavio and Pedro (and wife) did exceptional work. We have received many compliments on the quality of their work. From demo, drywall stage, painting, all of the electrical work that Mikey orchestrated like a conductor of a symphony, to the final touches once carpeting and granite were installed - we could not be more impressed with their hard work. We do want to add - that Mikey can do ANTYTHING!!! His talent knows no end. The crew discovered an issue that required immediate resolution after the demo stage and Dave and Ashely worked quickly to determine the depth of the issue and remedy promptly and fully disclosed all costs of the additional work. Not only did they make the big parts of the remodel progress in a smooth manner, but they also think of all the little details that may not pop into your mind during a remodel. Ashley was on top of every minute detail. She noticed the little things that should be addressed for the room to be cohesive. Ashely is a wonderful communicator - always providing updates on next steps, when to expect the next work crew, assisted us with purchasing appliances for the bar area, etc. She thinks of everything. She is an exceptional project manager. She is very supportive and encouraging to her team - everyone that worked in our home was polite, thoughtful and determined to include us and our wishes on each step of the remodel. The job was finished promptly when promised. The most impressive quality of this wonderful team is that nothing was ever "completed" without being done meticulously and looking perfect. There are never any short cuts - it was top notch professionalism the entire project. We would never consider seeking construction work with any other company. We have some plans for a next project - and we will be reaching out to Dave and Ashley and their amazing team - no doubt!!!!

Of the various contractors that I have used for projects around our home, Dave Richards Home…read moreImprovement is the supplier we are most comfortable endorsing to our friends and family. We had gotten multiple quotations to have our basement finished, and their quotation was competitive versus the field. However, what I think makes this team stand out versus others: 1) Speed: The team works quickly to get the job done with minimal days on site, basically working as long as it was convenient for us. We have a young daughter, so having the crews end work so she could sleep was huge for us and they were always respectful of our home and time. While we ran into a few snags with materials, Bruce communicated with us throughout the process and ensured we got what we needed. 2) Flexibility: When we asked to make some adjustments throughout the build process as we saw the framing or other items go in, they were able to accommodate them and actually worked with us to ensure we were happy with the result. Flabio, the framer, came out a follow up time to change some of the soffits for us, not because he had done anything wrong the first time, but because we preferred the look of framing out our soffits slightly differently after looking at them for some time. While I am sure they do not want everyone constantly changing the scope of the job, I truly felt they wanted us to be happy with the basement and did not force us to continue with an initial plan just because it was what was written at the very beginning. While other suppliers may have had more elaborate drawn up plans, the flexibility Dave Richards afforded was actually more valuable to me as the ability to make adjustments when we saw how things actually looked in our basement was helpful. No plan on paper can substitute this and Dave Richards did not throw change orders at us even if we asked for some small adjustments. 3) Transparency: They did not nickel and dime us after their quotation was done. We also had the ability to provide our own fixtures if we wanted. Alternately, they passed through their discounts on fixtures (e.g., toilets, vanity, shower) from Lowes directly to us. I would guess other companies would charge retail prices and keep that margin for themselves. Any incremental costs we paid above the first quotation were from an explicit request we made (i.e., asked to replace some standard doors with glass doors) and we were provided with a quotation prior to any invoices. 4) Clean: Their team always brings drop cloths to protect the rest of our home when working and maintains good communication with us throughout the day. They also cleaned out materials and even when leaving the worksite day to day, vacuumed and organized tools and materials for the following day. Mike, one of their team leads, even saw a small paint drop on our main floor (where they were not working) and offered to help us get it off. 5) Integrity: Based on the points above, we just feel that Dave Richards Home Improvement is the type of company and team with whom we want to do business. Hardworking, capable, and respectful teams that just want you to be happy with your project and done at a fair price. As a fairly sizeable project for us in terms of scope and spend, we were happy to do it with a company that worked with us to ensure we realized our vision for our basement and was not looking to get every dollar out of us that they could. Bottom line, Dave Richards and his teams are just good people and the type we love having in our home. We will definitely be calling Bruce at Dave Richards Home Improvement anytime we have a home project and would recommend them to others for any of your home improvement needs. A special Thank You to Bruce, Mike, and Flabio for their hard work and professionalism throughout the project.
