My wife and I had a horrible experience in working with Pat Schultz/Stonecliff homes. He worked…read morefor us for about four months, and then we finally fired him and hired a new general contractor. We would not recommend Pat Schultz/Stonecliff homes to anyone. He was dishonest, immature, lazy, and did extremely poor work. The first major incident occurred when Pat had to replace a piece of rotted sub-floor in the kitchen with a new piece. I went over to the home to check on the work and noticed when I stepped on the new piece, it was very weak. Upon further observation, I noticed the new piece was not proper sub-floor. He used a piece of T1-11 plywood siding panel. In addition to it not being the right piece of wood, it was cut very poorly with large gaps around it when installed (pic attached). So, I contacted Pat about the issue. Several days went by and I never heard back from him. Finally, when I did hear back from him, he said he would take care of the issue. So, I went back to the home about two weeks later, and the issue was still not corrected. I then contacted our HUD consultant about the issue and he contacted Pat. After our HUD consultant contacted him, the correct piece of wood was installed. Due to the sub-floor issue, my wife and I contacted Pat and expressed our concerns over his lack of communication, lack of work supervision, and lack of progress updates. He replied back and apologized so we decided to give him another chance. However, his behavior of not communicating, not supervising work, and not giving progress updates continued. The next major incident occurred when the new kitchen and bathroom cabinets were installed. Instead of properly measuring and cutting the holes in the backing of the cabinets for the pipes to go through for the sinks, they were ripped and torn (pics attached). And things just continued to get worse. They installed a faulty toilet in the 1st floor bathroom that leaked on the new floor and damaged it. So, during the removal of the toilet to replace the damaged floor, they scuffed up and dirtied the brand new base trim that was installed (pic attached) and never cleaned or replaced it or communicated at all about what was going to be done to fix it. The final incident that made us decide to fire Pat Schultz/Stonecliff homes was when we found uncapped electrical wires in the master bathroom that were live and no one was there working. We immediately contacted Pat about the issue and told him it was a severe fire hazard-something a professional GC should know- and we told him to please ensure it did not happen again. He told us OK. But when we went to the home the very next day, we found more live uncapped electrical wires. So, we immediately fired him. After we notified our HUD consultant that we had fired Pat, the HUD consultant had to come out to do an inspection to assess what had been done properly. During the inspection, my wife and I found out there were several other things done wrong. The HUD consultant said that Pat should have gotten a smaller dumpster for the demolition phase of the work because instead, he got a large one that did not fit in the driveway, so he set it partially in our front lawn which caused heavy damage to the lawn (pic attached) and now that needs to be fixed. Also, the pipes connected to the sump pump were broken during the demolition of the back deck (pic attached) and that was never communicated to us either. Also, the 2nd floor guest bathroom had trim that was cut and installed incorrectly (pic attached). One of the new kitchen cabinets was assembled incorrectly and it was damaged--the backing was completely torn out (pics attached). Also, one of the new windows was installed incorrectly and does not close completely. Overall, Pat Schultz acted very unprofessionally about the very reasonable requests that we made to get the home fixed up properly. He never cared about the quality of work being done nor about the damage he and his workers caused. Nor did he care about us as the customers trying to properly fix up their first home and make it a quality place to live. He does not deserve your time or money!

We were asked for extra money 2 different times, so we questioned more materials and money the last time, which led to confrontation .The first time we were scheduled to give a quote no one showed up or called to tell us. I called again and they rescheduled. Upon meeting both partners, they were friendly and we thought it would be a great fit. We hired them to do flooring and their guys were good. Where it gets hairy is there was confusion with who was responsible for the rest of the flooring. Instead of handling it in a professional manner, Alan was attacking. He is a hot head and lacks maturity and professionalism. He was attacking of our character and threatened to sue us. At that point, we paid our balance and asked him not to return. When we told his other business partner about the occurrence, his response was "I hate when he does that." To us, that showed this is a reoccurring issue. After this situation, I have heard from a few people that they too had some negative experiences. The reviews online are mainly all possible. The few negative reviews have shown a negative and attacking response from Alan. I cannot recommend this company due to the GC.

We love our new kitchen! Jianshen's team was recommended by a friend and when he arrived to talk…read morethrough options we immediately felt like we were in great hands compared to the others we had talked to. He was patient and explained all of our options in detail to help us make the best decision, rather than guessing what we want. This helped us to find the right balance of value, saving money, and spending more on customizations only where we needed it. Everything moved quickly once we started and they stayed very close to the predicted schedule. Sometimes our house had unwanted surprises for them, and they were able to re-route pipes and electrical or modify the cabinet sizing on-site to make everything work in our space. When they made mistakes they were quick to take responsibility and fix it before proceeding. We've heard so many other horror stories from friends doing remodeling and we were lucky to find Cai Cabinetry. Jianshen takes ownership for his team's work and will personally fix anything until you think it's perfect. If he doesn't know how, he finds someone who does. From start to finish, Jianshen and team exceeded our expectations. First, we received multiple 3D renderings reflecting possible configurations. Then we were able to go back and forth with the team to customize as needed. Our space is a bit weird (uneven walls and floors, small space, awkward location of pipes and windows). This project required incredible attention to detail, and Jianshen and team delivered it, visiting our house multiple times to make sure the measurements were right. When it came time for installation, his team was highly skilled and able to make on-the-spot customizations with us to make everything fit perfectly and exactly how we had wanted it. I think what I really want to convey here is not only the fact that the work was done at the highest level of quality and attention to detail, but it was also a pleasure to work with Jianshen and team. Jianshen has a positive, can-do attitude. If you have a unique idea, you can bring it to him and he will likely find a way (and also give you all the details on what the solution will entail). For example, we wanted to restore our 1890s butler pantry - he figured out how to restore some of the original fittings so that the 125+ year old things work like new. We had done a lot of research and consulted multiple experts on this - only Jianshen figured out how to make it work! Jianshen is also incredibly knowledgeable about renovations in general, and we have asked his advice on multiple things beyond cabinets. He is very responsive in communication and hard working. It's hard to find a contractor like that. We would definitely work with him again, and would recommend him to anyone in the area looking to do some remodeling.

Wanted to see if there had been any hail damage to our home this spring. They set up an appointment which had to be delayed 24 hours because of an emergency where a tree had fallen through a roof. Didn't mind the delay clear prioritization, and therefore an emergent situation turned out to be some nail pops and loosening by two skylights quickly repaired that day by Mo and the owner for reasonable cost. Excellent experience.
