Good Evening, We just arrived home from your establishment where we were celebrating my husband's 60th Birthday party. Service was above par but the order taking could have gone a bit better. Our waitress upon taking all of our orders, had to come back and clarify with my husband what steak he wanted. He had earlier mentioned that he wanted the STRIPLOIN STEAK (better known everywhere as the NEW YORK STRIPLOIN) yet at MIC it's listed among 2 other steaks, the Chef's Cut and the Top Sirloin. When all of our entree's were presented to our table my husband immediately wondered why his steak resembled a ball of meat. The steak WAS NOT a Striploin (NEW YORK STEAK as known everywhere else) and tried to eat it. He could barely chew it even though it was cooked medium rare (he did ask for MEDIUM) yet it was presented medium rare. Needless to say he DID NOT eat it nor did he want it. When the waitress came to ask how everything was, he mentioned that his steak was NOT A STRIPLOIN and was a TOP SIRLOIN. The waitress asked if there was anything could be done to better the situation to which my husband, pissed as he was, said no..........everyone is half done their entrees and that he would just eat the baked potato (the only thing right about the order). The waitress never brought this to the attention a manager nor even attempted to rectify the order by comping the entree (which this dinner was a present for his 60th birthday party). We never heard from a manager nor heard another word from the waitress. We have patronized this establishment for well over 10 years and have never had such a more disappointing experience. Our bill total for 8 people came to $356.79 and my wife tipped the waitress $130.00. So in closing, my husband, for his once in a lifetime 60th birthday, paid $356.79 for a BAKED POTATO.D We will most likely never return to this establishment ever again and for our upcoming DOUBLE BIRTHDAYS for myself and our Grandson, we will most definitely be going elsewhere to celebrate. I have been here a few times over the years. As the name would suggest, they forge a Canadian vibe which is sadly a rare thing. Very clean, good service, food and drink that actually are truly Canadian. Decor is kitschy Canadiana. Big parking lot. Lots of TVs for sports watching avec bier. Patio is nice, and take note of the plasma torch cut Canadian scenes in the custom metal barrier. Justin Trudeau would feel uncomfortable here. Recently had the pickerel dinner, and some wings. Unfortunately never saw her for my first refill. Other servers gathered around regulars, chatting (even in twos!). Wanted a box for take home. Gave up and finished it while waiting. The seafood chowder bowl was topped to the brim. Just couldn't taste anything except for the potatoes. No flavor of seafood nor could I ID a piece of it. Disappointing. I used to eat wings and drink beer at this location when it was the long standing Don Cherry's sports bar. The question I had coming back was whether the decision for the owners to leave the concept and start M.I.C was a good one. I've been twice in the last few months and both times thought the waitstaff to be painfully ditsy. They have a routine draft list but offer a handful of tall boys from Sudbury's own Stack brewery. The food is average and the prices on the high side of fair for what you get (eg. the traditional poutine for $10. I liked the pea soup. The cobb salad was served with a pleasant dressing and was complemented with fair portions of mushrooms, bacon, cheese and rotisserie chicken (which was quite dry). The twelve or so burgers are $14-15 and served with fries. I had the blue burger dip which was a smart concoction. The fries were fresh cut. In the end, it's a suitable destination for those looking for a casual eatery with a little local flair instead of boring, ubiquitous and equally pricey chain restaurant but I doubt it will blow your mind. read more

I have been to MIC at least four times now. I love the decor. The faux log cabin built inside the restaurant is a neat feature. The plaid carpet a great touch. The vintage pictures of Sudbury cap it off. This place has potential. I am also intrigued by the "whisky pub" however I have not been in there. The food: Mediocre. I am not sure what the issue is. The menu reads like food porn for certain. I always come away disappointed. It is like somehow the actual food served does not live up to the description in the menu. I have tried the meat loaf, the fish, the burgers. The meatloaf was over seasoned. The fish was freezer burned (ick) and the burger was over cooked and dry (twice). Its not all bad. The kettle chips are great! Like the Toronto Maple Leafs, MIC seems to start out a winner and unable hold on for the win. I wish this place luck. I truly do. We chose to gave dinnner at this restaurant as it was highly rated by a friend. The restaurant was not busy. It took about 15 minutes fir us to get a server. We gad 2 young children and they were nit offered any colouring materials or crayons that were noticed at the booth when we left. We were pretty much left to ask fir anything we wanted including the bill...which we finally had to go to the front to obtain si we could leave. The food was not the greatest but the service was horrible. I would not recommend nor try again. read more

Terrible service. Waited over 15 mins for someone to take our drink order and we had to flag someone down. It wasn't even really busy in there. Food was just ok. Expensive prices in relation to portion sizes. All in all took almost 2 hours. Only been there the one time and I don't think I'll be back. The full rack of back ribs I had there were laughable, tiny and woefully undersauced. It was a travesty of porky goodness. Came here about 6 months ago and forgot to review them... They definitely deserve a review! I came here with my boyfriend and his friend and his girlfriend (it was her birthday). I ordered the M.I.C's Extra Crispy Wings and Calamari! It was delicious and probably the best wings I've ever had.. I'm from Toronto, I've had my fair share of good wings but damn!
