I took a morning beach yoga class with Shailee and she was great! It was pretty easy to follow her directions and at that time of day is wasn't TOO crazy hot. She talked about optimism throughout the class which I also really enjoyed. The sand adds an extra layer of difficulty to the yoga practice but in a good way! Once upon a time, September 3rd 2020 to be exact...a 20 somethin' gal joined a Virtual Yelp Event hosted by Yelp Rochester (SHOUT OUT MEGAN C.) by Zoom. It was a yoga class. What compelled her to RSVP for this event? Maybe it was stress, maybe it was curiosity, perhaps it was boredom? We may never know what the motivation ~truly~ was. All we know is after this event the girl was changed. She woke up the next day and searched Yoga on Yelp, filtered by "nearby" and never looked back. Okay, so the 20 something was me. And I am 26, and I am a millennial so how is it that I have never tried yoga? Who knows. And I did look back! It took weeks of stalking Madeira Beach Yoga via Yelp to finally decide to sign up! The platform they use is integrated with an app called MindBody and so signing up for classes could not be easier! Not to mention, it's really, really competitively priced! I was able to purchase a bundle of 5 classes for just $65 to be used at any time through December. I love that I can select different classes each week..including YUP you guessed it, beach classes. I know I often equate food experiences to "heaven" but let me tell ya...this is on a whole 'nuther level. My favorite class I have taken was actually on the patio. It's in ROC Park which is beautiful in it's own right. The instructor named Vanessa began the class by asking us if there were any parts of our body we wanted to focus on. What an amazing personalized touch! Of course I whined about my carpal tunnel (I am certain this is something most Yelpers can relate to). She incorporated some special stretches for our wrists and fingers. The session was wonderful! But it got better. Because this patio is right up next to the intercoastal there were real life actual dolphins that joined our class. I am so serious. We found shashvana while watching a small pod of dolphins swimming by our sides. Am I deep in the Yoga koolaid now? Maybe not yet. But I am a huge fan of the practice, and even bigger fan of the instructors, and am totally over-the-moon for this business. Do you want to know the best part about Madeira Beach Yoga? This is the only "fitness class" that I have ever joined in for and haven't felt completely awkward ~new girl~ vibes. Yoga on the beach... Yes, please! They had plenty of other activities such as rock painting and even group trips. The instructors were different each morning I went for beach yoga. I really found that beneficial. Variety is the spice of life, don't ya know?!? The yoga classes were all geared toward beginners. However, balancing in the sand is no easy task so the classes could easily be tailored to advanced levels. Bring a towel or blanket as your yoga mat. There's nothing better than enjoying the sound of the waves and feeling the ocean breeze as you contort your body into a pretzel. read more

I first discovered the Madeira Beach Yoga group several years ago on one of my annual spring vacations to St. Pete's Beach. I followed them on facebook after my first trip, their daily motivational posts keep me connected to my practice when I'm back in Canada, and each time I return to Florida I make a point to visit them again and again. I have had the pleasure of meeting several of their instructors and they are all wonderful. I highly recommended their 2-5 class passes - great value. As a new local, and aspiring yogi, I was so happy to find Madeira Beach Yoga. Lucy and Teresa are everything for which you'd hope in yoga studio owners and yoga teachers- welcoming, kind, inspiring and great leaders. The classes are rooted firmly in tradition but invite practitioners of all ages and degrees of fitness and experience. Classes are held at the beach and inside the sweetest little studio space affectionately called "The Shack"-- which comes in very handy when Florida storms suddenly pop up. Mad Beach Yoga attracts the nicest people--locals, snowbirds, vacationers, who all enjoy seeking yogic bliss in paradise. I am new to Yoga and wanted to give it a try. A friend recommended Mad Beach Yoga and I am glad she did. Teresa and Lucy are great instructors. I started on the beach but also enjoy the soothing studio. Really cool when it is raining outside and you hear the sound of rain as you are meditating in a pose. We love to take yoga on the beach whenever we are here on vacation! Natalie was an excellent instructor, leading us through various variations for poses, as balancing on the sand has added challenges! The flows were approachable but challenging. Natalie also had sunscreen available for us, and we appreciated the reminders throughout class to drink water. Class on the beach is always so relaxing and refreshing - we will certainly be back! read more

I met owner Sherry and instructor Crystal last week when I saw a group of yogis practicing on the beach, but yesterday was my first class. Yoga on the patio with Crystal was incredible! Even in the summer on a hot sunshiny day, there was an incredible breeze off the water. Crystal was subbing for someone else and even though a slow flow class isn't something she typically teaches, she did a good job of making sure every student was able to get the practice in that they needed. I left feeling relaxed and quite a bit less sore than I was when I walked in after a hard week of workouts. I love practicing outside and am so happy to have stumbled upon the beach class last week! I stayed in Madeira Beach for a few days at the beginning of April for a quick getaway from the depths of winter in MN. I participated in the beach yoga one morning and yoga on the patio another morning. Both sessions were lovely and exactly what I was looking for. I used my own towel for the beach yoga and they had mats to borrow at the studio for the patio session. The instructors were attentive to all of the participants' needs. The citrus towelette at the end of each session was a nice touch. I would highly recommend attending a class if you are in the area. read more
