Madeline's is a cocktail bar and restaurant that opened in Brooklyn, New York in November 2023. It was founded by business partners Brenton Land and Patrick Byrne. Land is a Brooklyn native who worked as a bartender at a number of NYC bars. Eventually he was hired to bartend at the popular Manhattan bar Vig Bar, which is owned by Irish native Byrne. Land learned a great deal at Vig Bar and ultimately became the General Manager. When a space previously home to the popular cocktail bar Ramona opened up in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood, Land jumped at the chance to turn it into his own bar. He partnered up with Byrne and named it "Madeline's" (or simply "Mads") after a friend's daughter. Unlike Ramona's which was strictly a cocktail bar, Land wanted to bring a food element to Mads. He hired Greenpoint local Steve Bean to be Mads' chef. Bean curated an avant-garde menu that took inspiration from New American and French cuisine. He eventually parted ways with Madeline's, but the food program remains and the menu continues to evolve. The current food selection is focused more on elevated pub fare. The food and drink programs at Mads are primarily run by Land, who can still sometimes be seen crafting cocktails behind the bar. My wife and I recently visited Madeline's while we were spending the weekend in Brooklyn. My wife's cousin was getting married in Greenpoint and he and his fiancé were hosting a cocktail reception the evening before. It just so happens that the reception was held at Madeline's, which is one of their favorite bars. Most of the menu is dedicated to their house cocktails, but they also offer a variety of mocktails, wine, spirits, and beer. The food menu features an eclectic mix of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and various bar bites prepared with a modern twist. Madeline's also serves brunch on the weekends. My wife ordered the "Paw Paw Patrol" (ago mezcal el manantial, Aperol, paw paw fruit, green Chile, lime), while I had the "Fall In Love" (mocktail: pineapple shrub, clove, cinnamon, ginger beer). After receiving our drinks, we headed to the upper level and joined other members of our family. We really enjoyed our drinks; they were very refreshing and had so much flavor. We didn't end up ordering any food while we were there, but we saw customers around us ordering food and the presentation of the various plates was impressive. My husband and I hosted our baby shower in Madeline's upstairs private room this weekend. It was such a great venue and we highly recommend it! Planning the event with Brenton was seamless and easy -- he answered my 100s of questions and was flexible with how it was structured. He gave good advice as to timing and decor tips. The day of, Jordan and Chris helped us in every way possible. They were so professional and quick, so meticulous and thoughtful. The upstairs private room is gorgeous, has wonderful lighting, and many guests asked how I found such a gem. 10/10! read more

This review is long overdue. I discovered Madeline's last year while looking for a venue for my birthday party. I went a few times to get a feel of the place and loved the ambiance - from the front bar to the private back room. So I decided to book the back room for my birthday and I would say, out of all the places I looked into, it was the most reasonably priced and beautiful. They allow you to have a decent minimum for F&B, bring in your own decor and cake, and play your own music. All of the food was delicious and you can also make your own cocktails. Important to note that they have many gluten free options including a chicken sandwich with a fresh bun. The service was great, they were very responsive and patient with my many questions. Since then, I recently went back for a friend's birthday and it was just as nice. The wings were delicious and the bartenders are very attentive. I noticed they have TVs for games, trivia nights, brunch and happy hour. It is a hidden gem in Greenpoint! read more

Yes, I managed to drag Manhattan people here, and they thought it was an experience of a lifetime. First off - the drinks are absolutely delightful (even the warm drinks for the wintertime). Food in terms of shared bites, including the fries, wings, and tuna tartare had just an extra level of flavor. Oh and for now, it is pretty easy to get seating without feeling like you are crushing people left and right. The staff is also pleasant and funny. The ambiance is spacious, classy, with a very Brooklyn feel. Oh yes, and the value for the buck is simply amazing too. Talk about stylish. Came here for brunch on a rainy Saturday. I ordered the short rib chilaquiles add avocado and loved it. Lots of mole and it filled me up after a workout class. My friend got the breakfast tacos that she said were good. We sat in the corner booth which was very comfortable. It's a clean place and I can tell they upkeep it well. It was pretty empty during our dining which we appreciated. There is a long bar with seats with backs and an upstairs for private parties. The high ceilings and windows give the space a beautiful setting. I would definitely come back for dinner or drinks. read more

I went to celebrate my best friends son engagement and truly liked the atmosphere at this place. They provided a nice room with a great bar and some good apps and a relaxed atmosphere to relax and share with good friends. The service was excellent and the apps were decent. They served some platters of fresh fruits, smoked salmon, pita chips and skewers that were very tasty, it just wasn't enough and so we left hungry! We went next door to Gotham Burger and enjoyed some burgers and fries. lol but we had a great time either way. The ipa's were fantastic and oh so cold. The place is cool with a hip young crowd and plenty of outdoor seating too. Parking can be a challenge though, you have to be patient and just drive around until you find one. read more

Super cute spot in Greenpoint serving craft cocktails and mocktails. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on a Saturday night in December and loved how festive the place was decorated. The bar was busy but not so packed that you had to fight for the bartender's attention. Madeline's cocktail menu is mostly gin and tequila/mezcal based drinks, which is really my only complaint about this place as vodka is my go-to. The bartenders were attentive and our waiter even helped us out with a cake to commemorate the birthday with. Food here is also tasty, mostly a small plates type of place, not necessarily a restaurant but a bar with food. Prices are also steep given the trendy location and craft cocktails -- but even the mocktails and mixed drinks will end up setting you back around $15 a pop. read more

celebrated my birthday here and hosted 70+ people in the upstairs space, it was a phenomenal time. coordinating everything with management was super smooth from start to finish and we had our own private bar and bathroom which ensured privacy from the restaurant. the bartenders were so attentive with the guests which i appreciated because it truly does help the host out. the drinks were also soooo good and flowing all night long :) highly recommend this spot if you're looking to host an intimate event with your loved ones! read more

Hands down LOVE this location. Funnily enough found it on my commute over to another location nearby and decided to give it a shot with a friend. Was not disappointed. The ambiance and interior design of the place amazing and loved the addition of the art and plants (would make for a cute date night spot). They were very accommodating when it came to the space as well as pricing on the food and drinks (both of which were amazing). We were even allowed to set up earlier than the event start time which was very helpful. The main room is a beautiful open space with tons of natural light. Everyone had a great time and everything went smoothly. Brenton and Sam are genuine nice people, the type of people that we like doing business with! Elegant venue with amazing staff. I reserved the upstairs private room (refundable deposit, no fee) to host a party of 70 with a lineup of DJs, and cake served. The room has its own bar with service, seating, bathroom, and skylight (which we didn't use but I'd imagine would be nice). Brenton, the owner, is super responsive and on top of things.
