They don't make them like this anymore. I've been coming to Sweetwater for the better part of 15 years. And the most important thing about this place is that its energy and vibe cannot be matched. Food was 11/10 amazing and filling I had the CrabCake Eggs Benedict- It came with home fries and a side salad 11/10 No notes We shared the brioche french toast, it wasn't giving brioche... it was giving pound cake .... We came to Sweetwater to meet friends, have lunch, and watch a World Cup match, but the real surprise was the restaurant itself. From the street, you would never guess there is such a large covered garden area tucked behind the restaurant. The space is bright and airy with plants, string lights, ceiling fans, and plenty of seating. It has the feeling of being outdoors while still being protected from the weather, which made it a great place to spend a few hours. Best of all, I was welcomed in the garden area! Mom always keeps me in my carrier when we're dining in spaces like this, and I settled comfortably on the bench seat while the humans ate. And they ate very well. Mom ordered the bruschetta and garlic shrimp for the table to share, followed by the branzino with asparagus. She also had a cucumber, thyme, and lemonade mocktail that was perfect for a summer afternoon. Dad ordered the steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus, which I monitored closely. Unfortunately, my supervision did not result in an appropriate steak allocation. The biggest surprise may have been dessert. We ordered a banana cream pie with an Oreo crust that was enormous, rich, and absolutely worth saving room for. There is no dog menu, and we weren't offered a water bowl, so this isn't a restaurant that specifically caters to dogs. But the staff was incredibly friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, the food was excellent, and being able to comfortably dine with my humans in such a beautiful covered garden made this a place we'd happily return to. Dogba's Verdict Sweetwater understands an important rule of dining: if the humans are going to spend several hours eating, drinking, and watching soccer, the dog should be allowed to attend the meeting. Beautiful covered garden, excellent food, friendly staff, and enough room for me to relax comfortably in my carrier. This is such a neighborhood gem! I've been twice, once in the patio and once in the cozy indoors, and have loved both. One of the best burgers I've had in the city - such a big patty, great cheese, and sautéed onions. So so good. The hangar steak was also delicious and well-priced, and the lamb burger was so good. I started with the French onion soup which was average. Wasn't upset by it, but wouldn't get it again. For my entree is got the fish of the day which was a delicious seared bass. The bass was cooked perfectly and was juicy and was paired with a nice lemon butter sauce. It came with a beet puree which gave the dish a nice sweet balance. The service was fast and left feeling very full and happy. Overall, the place wasn't bad, but was not super impressionable. However, the food more than made up for it, even though once again a long wait. My eggs were fluffy, soft and flavorful that I was raving about it as soon as I ate it. The steak was tender and the chimmichuri sauce went well with it. My friend really enjoyed her chicken sandwich as well. We wanted wine that was similar to a Sauvignon Blanc and were recommended the Garnacha which was very good. The bread and olive oil that came out was a good start to the meal. The first time, I'm not sure if the server even recognized that we were asking for the item a second time. I got the omelette special the second time, which was flavorful and filling. While simple, the dressing that they put on their side salad is delicious. I normally ignore side salads, but I ate this entirely before even eating my omelette because I enjoyed it so much. Inside restaurant gives French diner vibes, which I love. Will make a reservation one day, so that we can sit inside. Venue could have more character and a few more heaters for the outside tables. When it comes to the food, I think this where they lack. The lamb burger did not have much flavor that makes it stand out as using lamb meat. And lamb usually has a pretty strong distinctive flavor. So it really made the majority of the meal unimpressive. But I would say the lentils were surprisingly filling by the time I had left the table. The fries were not as crispy and seasoned as they could have been. There's a lot of potential that could've been explored here and I hope they tap into it more. read more

Sweetwater was recommended to my by a local at Brooklyn Brewery, and I'm so glad I went on my last day here. From the moment I walked in, the service was unparalleled; multiple waiters checked in on me while I was waiting for the rest of my party, and offered to bring drinks or appetizers while I waited. Our waiter continuously checked in on us to make sure we had enough drinks and the food was tasting alright. One employee even entertained us with ghost stories about the restaurant after we asked how long the restaurant had been open. The food was amazing! For appetizers we had the calamari and french onion soup. The calamari was fried to perfection; it wasn't chewy or rubbery, it simply melted in your mouth. The french onion soup was exquisite as well. For my main dish, I ordered the chicken curry stew. The chicken thigh was extremely tender, the vegetables were soft, and the rice was perfect. I got to try everyone else's dish as well; long story short, everything was immaculate. The lamb shank and both steaks were extremely tender, the onion rings that accompanied the hangar steak were crispy even after they started to cook down, and the garlic frites with the ribeye were extremely flavorful. The ambiance tied everything together. The moody lighting, classic wooden tables and chairs, and beautiful floor and roof tiling make you feel like you're royalty, and the food and service definitely add to that. They had open tables in the back but they were together so the hostess asked us to wait a minute while she separated them. We then noticed open seats at the bar so we decided to sit there. The bartenders were very attentive. All the staff were super nice. They gave us a bottle of water which I like because I drink a lot of water when eating. Sweetwater's heated outdoor garden is my new favorite spot for outdoor dining this winter. They have some seating out front on the street but their garden in the back so adorable, warm, and socially distant with plenty of open air. The drinks are lovely, I particularly liked their old fashioned, and I've tried their French onion soup, green beans, and truffle fries, all of which are great snacks to enjoy with a cocktail. My friend also loves their burger with bacon. The service here is also standout; make a reservation but we were able to get a walk in table in their garden on a Saturday evening.
