The owner (Waffa) started out great the first two times I went in for a hair appointment but like other reviewers posted, her work product really went downhill. Twice I walked out with uneven edges (drastically so). The first. time I chalked it up to an honest mistake but when it happened again, it clearly shows that she stopped putting in a good effort. She tends to rush through it. Also, fails to brush off/remove the hair that has fallen onto our shoulders/neck etc. Just like someone else posted, if you get an "appointment" do not expect it to be honored. I still had to wait about 25 minutes for her to finish someone else up. In that case, do not even provide appointments and just say it's a first come, first serve basis. On some occasions when I dropped in and (there were no people but she was on the phone) she seemed annoyed that she had to hang up to take care of a customer. Hair salons are so abundant in the city, I am sure I can find one that provides much better customer service and actually cares to provide a good quality haircut. read more

I came to do a fun summer dye job for my daughter: bleached tips + died purple. Something went wrong with way she applied the color and it barely took, which she acknowledged but didn't offer to fix it. They still charged $120, I reluctantly just paid thinking it would just have to be light purple and silver and still pretty, though not what we wanted. My daughter took ONE shower (one) and the color was completely gone from 75% of her tips. I called to ask if they could redo the hair or refund me for just the color portion of the work, very calmly, nicely, cooperatively, and the woman started screaming at me saying I was insulting her as a stylist. I offered pictures, I tried to talk the situation down to a less combative place and just figure out if she preferred us to come back or to refund some money. First she said that while she'd usually charge $80 for the color portion of the work, she was only going to refund me $30 (or the price of the color tube), and that she preferred this over fixing it. Then she changed her mind and told me I'd have to come back in for more color after all - no refund. Then the manager got on and continued to take a really aggressive tone, telling me off as well. Needless to say, I was not comfortable bringing my daughter around these people again. Stay away, they do not do a good job, deal with customers calmly, honor commitments, or accept that they make mistakes and fix them - they hold the customer accountable for their mistakes. Had an amazing experience!! Wafa did a great ombré color and cut long layers for me. The color looks great! I'm always nervous about getting anything cut because it turns out shorter than I'm comfortable with, but she assured me from the start she wanted to keep my length. It looks just amazing. Bonus points: her son who did my shampoo and rinse was funny and nice, and their dog Simba was sleeping on the side and he's SO CUTE. This past Tuesday I finally convinced my son to get a haircut after school. Our plan was to drop off a package at a local UPS store and drive to a Hair Crafter's salon after. We discovered Mademoiselle Salon purely by accident. They had a sign that said $5 haircuts for kids. It was a win win situation. The owner is incredibly sweet. She understood that my son did not want his hair cut. She also understood that he was extremely self conscious of his cowlicks. She literally gave him the best haircut that fit his face that he has ever had. By the time that she finished, he was beaming. What made this experience even more amazing was the fact that I did not realize that she accepted cash only. (Her credit card machine is arriving next week.) I did not have any cash with me. She out of good faith told us not to worry and to pay her back another day. We were complete strangers! We however could not do that. We were able to walk across the street to Walgreens, buy something and get cash to pay her. She restored my faith in humanity. read more

So I'd been coming here for a few years off and on but... I don't know what happened. The first few visits were great. But gradually the service fell off. A portion of my hair would not be styled or something else totally not okay for a 90$+ appointment. Like the last time I was here. Everything went well until after I left. I reached up because the back of my head felt cold and there was a LARGE section still DAMP after she supposedly dried and flat ironed it. I went back in and she said that what mattered is that it was clean... No? I came here for a RELAXER, therefore my hair needs to be dry from scalp to ends. So I kept trying to push for her to actually FINISH. She took me into a private room I guess to save face in front of other customers (all the while being mildly indignant about the whole thing), and then proceeded to only fix a portion of the problem. At that point, I honestly did not trust my words so I just left. I'd rather take two trains and two buses all the way back home to have family do it than ever coming back here. Went today for a haircut and eyebrow wax. Wafa is friendly, companionable, and after services were completed, I love my hair again. $7 for men's or women's haircut, $5 for eyebrow wax. It looks like she may be a one-woman operation, but she is sweet and my hair was happy afterwards. Went in with flat, dull, frizzy hair, and left with bouncy, body-full hair with simply a cut and a little serum with a gentle blow-dry/round barrel brush. I have naturally wavy hair and it was too long/weighed down. She recommended cutting off 3 inches, and I was scared, but she mentioned that she doesn't try to cut hair too short; just enough to get hair back to healthy again. She was right. I had friends who recommended her to me after she cut their hair, and they were right. Gave her a good tip. My eyebrows were done well. Waxed and when finished, I was much happier than going in. They are good enough that I don't have to think about them. If they were done badly, I'd be trying to figure out how to change them, fill them in, or similar. Simple, easy, and I don't have to think about it. Whole process took less than an hour (took an hour from driving there -15 min. cut, then driving home 15 min.), and was faster than my previous hair cutting place. Back on my schedule and it didn't take the whole day. Happy! read more

Wafa does a good job at a good price. She does not run a "professional" business. Things that you expect, like adherence to appointments, are often not honored, and the problems with her phone system plagues customers' ability to schedule time with her. If you think of this as your Aunt's house, like "Wafa's place," you'll love it. If you're looking for a more professionally run salon, you'll probably be better off elsewhere. Good place for a simple haircut though. read more

I attempted going here ...one last time. I believe in second..third chances...and it is just not improving. Dirty! I cannot believe a health inspector has not addressed any of the sanitary issues with the owner. It is just an unpleasant experience from the get go....her boyfriends, nephews or sons like to go in there and they all sit speaking whatever language they speak the entire time very loudly....my grandparents along with my uncle owned a salon years ago...speak fluent Spanish but know that it is just RUDE on anyone's part to speak another language in front of someone...especially in front of other clients..check "Etiquette 101" ....then she has dogs who are shedding walking around and sitting in the couches....where my sister had her wax done...there was an old container of yuk right next to the wax. And please try to find someone other than relatives to pose for pictures on your site...after seeing the "ombre" and make up jobs on these trashy girls i for sure would never trust them with me. She uses some generic makeup that we had never heard of....and be careful of you want to get any wax done...she will rip off a chunk of it and tell you to "see how beautiful you look"..in the mirror...its is a joke! read more
