One of just a few left. We really like going to the drive in. If you're new to the drive in experience, here are a few pro tips. 1st- it's not like being at a regular theatre. You need some accoutrements. 2. Consider bringing lawn chairs and a FM radio. Many times the outside speakers do not work and I haven't figured how to play FM stations through my phone. 3. Bring your bug spray. I spray it on myself and the ground beneath me to keep away mosquitoes and ants. 4. We always bring dinner and snacks. We usually pick up a pizza, Panda Express, or some other fast food. I always bring an ice chest with water and sodas. We still hit the concession stand to help them stay in business. 5. Is the easiest, sit in your car with the radio dialed into the appropriate station. Enjoy the A/C car and enjoy the movie. 6. Beware, drive in theatre bathrooms are usually pretty bad. At least the Madera drive in has soap and paper towels.

Great place to watch a movie. Brings back memories and wanted to share with my family. Sat in the back and watch a double feature. Good times!!

There isn't many drive-in theaters around anymore. I was excited to find one. There are two screens and each screen shows a double feature. The cost is reasonable, but each lot isn't very large so it gets crowded. I'd suggest to get there an hour before to get prime parking. The lots are filled with families. The concession stand is reasonable priced. I did buy the popcorn it was freshly popped, but the consistency was oily. Luckily you can bring in your own food. We will bring our own next visit. I was disappointed in the number of women stalls, and that they ran out of soap in the bathroom.....very early in the evening. It was a fun experience and definitely a family event.

Really great experience. Came here with my date. They had 2 movies going at the same drive in. We stayed to see both. The movies that played were Hitmans Wife's Bodyguard and A Quiet Place Part 2. Hitman's wife was pretty good. Funny with a hilarious ending! Plus a lot of action! Not a fan of A Quiet Place Part 2. It was creepy! Definitely a few moments that had me jump in the creepiness of it all! = / It was simple to just park, turn off vehicle lights, change the radio station to the channel the drive in gave and watch. Simple and convenient! It has been too long since I've done that and it turned out really good! Plus it was a quick mini drive with a pretty sunset on the way! =) I had really great company too to enjoy it with too! Good service and drive-in theater! Recommended!

Can't complain when this is one of the last, of a bygone era. No one , especially if you grew up in the 70s&80s can say a Drive-In theater doesn't bring back great memories. I'm so glad this place hasn't changed much. It's hard to believe there are so many people who haven't done this. Even with the race track noise. It's worth it. ( tip) for an even better experience. Bring a truck, cushions, and a cooler.

One of the last Drive-Ins in California you can go to... definitely worth coming to!! The prices have gone up, $11 for adults, $5 for kids under 11. Only two screens, but if you can stay up late they feature two movies. They have a concession stand and it's pricey, but that's the beauty of the drive-in!! You can take your own food, drinks and snacks!! They have restrooms available and for the most part the area is kept clean and organized. Unfortunately the night we went they were having the midget car races at the fair so that was loud and interfering with our movie. But it's not too often, so I hope when you go, you have a good experience. Bring your own speaker and chairs and come out and enjoy this place!!

So we came here on Memorial Day. Online it says gates open at 7:30, I had seen on their Facebook that lines were long so we actually got there about 6:40. We were about the 10th car in line. They opened up earlier, a little after 7. They have two screens and play 2 movies on each screen. Which starts at 8:45. Screen 1 seems to have more parking then screen 2. There are social distancing guidelines now. You have to show them your mask when you purchase the tickets. $10 per adult. I don't know what happens if you don't have one. But whenever you leave your car you're suppose to have a mask on. Everyone seemed to be adhering to the rule, all the employees included. We had time to kill so we hit the snack bar. The employees seemed happy and helpful. There was an older man handing out the food and seemed really nice. You order your food and they'll call you down the little isle to get your food (social distancing)! Monday night dollar corn dogs was a big hit in my car! You are suppose to park 1 car in between the speakers and park 10 feet away from other cars. There were a couple cars that were closer than 10 feet. One happened to park right next to mine! The employees didn't ask these cars to move , which I get - they probably don't want to start fights over social distancing. The people stayed in their car the whole time so it wasn't that bad. We'll definitely be back tho. It's a good social distancing activity.

    Watching Evil Dead next!

Well I really love drive-ins so fun! This place is great!! I love the double features! Went here for Halloween what a treat!!

My sons enjoyed this drive-in double feature. We watched Raya and the Last Dragon and then Tom and Jerry. The snack bar had choices that all three boys found to be good.

Ask the Community - Madera Drive-In

Can you smoke cigarettes in your car?

    yes, with in reason.

    Can I take lawn chairs?

Definitely, I see family with kids in lawn chairs and maybe a blanket on the ground. Mainly, I viewed the screen from my trunk bed of the truck.

Can u bring your own snacks?

    Yes!! 😍😍😍😍

Can you leave after the first movie?

Yes! I do it every time :) I try to park towards the edges because a lot of people don't leave.

Are dogs welcome? I got one who loves to be in the car!

Yes, I brought my 2 dogs. I saw other dogs too.

If you have a radio app on your smartphone can you listen to the audio that way?

Yes! I bring my own battery operated radio, I bet the app would work even better.

Do you get to watch both movies with paid entry?

    Yes!

So how does this work when it comes to the speakers? Are there speakers there or do we bring our own? Does your car waste a lot of gas if you do it through the stereo?

I really don't like having my car running the whole time because it seems so noisy so I bring my own hand held radio :-) they have speakers out, but they're not very loud so you definitely need something else.

Does anyone know which screen is screen 1 and which is screen 2? Trying to setup an event and need to direct people on where to park. Thanks!

When you drive in left lane is screen 1 or left of ticket booth right lane is screen 2 right of ticket booth....staff will direct you as well

I haven't been to the theaters in years and we went to take my daughter to Toy Story 5-great film, go see it- and we pre purchased our tickets, and I didn't know what to do when we got there. No ticket taker, but there was a lady on the phone at customer service, so we stopped and waited. She was giving lots of info on the phone but hardly acknowledged us. Finally she said "I'll be right with you." Then when she was off and I told her we just need to scan the code, she was like, "ohh!! Of course!!" Then said that we could have used the kiosks way on the other side behind the ticket purchase are. There's just no clear path for check in options and if they are going to pay someone to stand there, put up a sign please! The concession stand was stocked and no line. $38 for a large popcorn and 2 large sodas. Damn. But that's life right? Popcorn was fresh, free extra plates and cups, free butter and jalapeños. And soda was the large pick your flavor Coke machines. Our day tickets were $10, plus a $2 fee per ticket. *rolls eyes* but could I have purchased them at the theater without a convenience fee, I'm still not sure. They have lots of bathrooms. Staff is willing to help you find your seats and move others if they are not abiding to the seat rules (you pay for a seat and sit where you paid), when you can find staff. The seats are weird and were a bit hard for my 3 year old to sit in. But the cup holders in between go up, so I was able to put that up and hold my leg against her chair to keep it from folding up on her. I'm griping more about how much theaters have changed than Maya itself. All the staff we interacted with were nice enough and the place was clean, restrooms stocked. Bonus it's close to home. We will be back for Moana 2. :)

Unfortunately, one issue keeps bothering me enough that I feel it needs to be addressed. During my recent visit to see *Moana*, the lobby was packed with families waiting to see movies like *Minions* and *Toy Story*. While waiting, I noticed several large posters advertising R-rated films with mature sexual themes and graphic horror imagery. (I Want Your Sex, Evil Dead Burn, Celebrity Sex Pass, Scary Movie). These displays were positioned throughout the main lobby where every child had to walk past them. I'm not arguing that theaters shouldn't show or advertise R-rated movies. Adults should absolutely have those options. My concern is simply where the advertising is placed. If YouTube age-restricts trailers for these films and children generally can't attend them without an adult, it seems reasonable to consider whether their marketing should be front and center in a lobby filled with young kids. Many other businesses already separate adult-oriented material from areas intended for families. I think theaters could do something similar by keeping the main lobby focused on family-friendly advertising during busy daytime hours or by moving mature posters to hallways leading toward auditoriums showing those films. This feels like a common-sense compromise that respects both movie studios' ability to advertise and parents who simply want to take their children to a family movie without having to explain or shield them from mature marketing while waiting for their show. I hope management will consider reviewing its advertising placement policy. I'd be happy to raise my rating if I see improvements in the future.
