They send appointment reminders the day prior and one hour prior to your appointment. Their online system allows easy cancellations. When you arrive you check in via text link. The wait is never long and the technicians are friendly, efficient, and draw your blood correctly and painlessly! Their appointment timeslots are every twenty minutes beginning at 6:00 AM with the last appointment at 4:40 PM. The interior is clean and the entire process is fairly touchless, except for touching your palm on some type of palm reading device. You enter at the northeast corner of the building under a green awning that shares a space with a hospital affiliated fitness center and has a lovely pond with a fountain that people are always walking around for exercise. I've never had to wait very long once I'm checked in. I've noticed the 6:00 AM timeslot is the fastest one in terms of getting in and out efficiently. Today I waited about 20 minutes to get called to the back for my blood drawing. This was for a 6:40 AM appointment and that's still not a bad wait. The restrooms are clean, the building is handicap accessible, and with the text check in there is no need to sign in at the indoor kiosk at the (typically vacant) interior receptionist desk. If you enter from Balch road and wind around through the parking lot you avoid the lengthy traffic light, east at the entrance to the Target shopping center. When you're done doing your fasting lab work, there's a Panera right there and you can order on the app, pick up your breakfast and get on with your day! I had an incessant cough - so bad that I was having trouble catching my breath. (Why I didn't tear my husband away from his football game and take me is still a mystery.) I hadn't been to urgent care since the middle of Covid. I figured I might as well go back to the last place I had been. They were close and in the past, quick. I got there to find them closed with a homeless person passed out in front of their entrance. Now where to go? I've had more than my share of lousy service at AFC so I continued to look. I saw Approxie care on the list of sites. I was a good 10 miles away but I at least knew where it was - I had received a (drive-thru ) Covid test there. I arrived to find one other family in the waiting area. I grabbed a mask, quickly checked in and sat in the corner to distance from the others. Check in was easy, you know the drill - hand over your cards, fill in the papers on the clipboard and have a seat. No different from most any medical encounter. I waited no more than 10 minutes when I was escorted into the exam room. A young girl - high school young - took my vitals, asked me about what was going on and swabbed me for Covid and the flu - pretty routine. In the back of my mind I wondered how a teenager was qualified to work there but she told me it was her third year in the medical program at Bob Jones. Later when I thought about it, I was impressed that Approxie was actively supporting our young people in their career paths. Dr Shah soon came in, listened to my chest - he didn't need to ask me to cough. I'm sure had heard me through the walls. He asked a few questions, listened to my chest and diagnosed me. Apparently my symptoms were textbook for walking pneumonia. It was just a gut feeling, but Dr Shah's bedside manner immediately made me trust him. He did do a chest xray to reassure me as bronchitis and I are no stranger. He prescribed a breathing treatment and antibiotics and sent me home with the standard rest and hydrate and like that, less than an hour after I entered the building, I was driving home. The only issue that I had was that Dr Shah told me to do the breathing treatment twice a day but my orders and prescription both said once a day. By the time I called the office to confirm, they were closed. The medicine had me feeling better in a couple of days though 3 weeks later I still have a cough. Approxie definitely isn't the most convenient place to my home but if and when I or a family member needs urgent care, this is the place we are coming too. I really can't say enough about the care I received.

I did this because I knew there would probably be a line for COVID testing. I was the second car there. People then started to form a line and were told to return to their cars and call the number at 1:00. I did. No one answered. Instead, a new line formed outside the door and they opened the door for these people, allowing them to be the walk-in appointments which they have limited to 8 per day for some ridiculous reason. I was told to call (again) and finally got a hold of someone after TWO MORE ATTEMPTS at calling with no answer. When I did get in they said "we aren't taking any more walk-ins today" and I explained how that was unfair as I had been waiting since 11:45. She said "we don't open until one" I explained that it's unfair that I was told to go to my car and call when they just went to the door and let the people in line be the first walkins despite having told everyone else to call. Another lady took the phone and began LITERALLY YELLING at me about how I'm not the only one trying to get an appointment. I told her I get that but it was absolutely ludicrous for them to open the door for people when they told everyone else to go call. Would not recommend.
