Donna has really gone out of her way to help as we live on Long Island and cannot visit the store regularly.

As I neared the windows, I saw that there was actually a business in the building. Having had an…read moreantique business myself in NY, I was looking forward to visiting. That ended as soon as I opened the door. My friend and I were not greeted by the rude gentleman who sat behind the desk. He didn't even respond when I complimented him on a piece. There were two items I wanted to purchase but decided I'd rather deal with people who know how to treat their customers. A friendly demeanor, a knod or smile acknowledging someone has entered your store, can actually produce a sale. Merchants in town agreed that many complain about him. I still love Essex and it's many shops.

I was glad to say hi to him again but the last time I was at his store was 5yrs ago and time goes by fast. I wasnt sure what he had in this store but when i walked in I knew had some real nice pieces and answered my questions on what I wanted to know more about. David has a nice collection of Glassware from different styles and ages. Im a rare book collector having been in that field from my work for about 30yrs. Ive now been buying nice and affordable antique furniture and from what David has its reasonable. Been to few other Antique stores but all I get is they came from another persons Estate and didnt tell me much other than that. I highly suggest just even taking time to stop in and look take your time, Yes Its a quiet place and you will get some info from what it is and about it. Best Always David Brian

The Little Station is one of my favorite gift shops in Connecticut. Whenever I visit Hammonasset…read moreduring the summer, I make a point to stop in at the Little Station afterwards, but it's definitely worth a trip into Madison unto itself! The shop wares are eclectic, whether you're looking for a beach tunic or bag, lotions and lip balms, loose leaf teas, jewelry, candles, perfumes and eau de toilettes... They've got it. There are always special little treats that you just won't see elsewhere, which makes this a great stop if you're looking for stocking stuffers or small gifts. On my most recent visit, they had wildflower confetti: biodegradable confetti containing wildflower seeds, so you can celebrate and garden at the same time! I got a packet of those for my nephew, so hopefully he can have fun planting his own little garden. Highly recommend the Little Station, whether you're just passing through the area or making a special trip of it!

Owner Amanda has sweet taste in everything from breezy scarves and sarongs, to Rifle Paper Company Cards (a personal favorite), and cheap and cheerful costume jewels. If you don't know about the Beech Tree Cottages, it's become a popular Shoreline spot for a rustic wedding or family gathering. Either throw your bash on the tented lawn out back, or rent the entire venue, including eight tidy cottages. Their famous CT Roadside BBQ Truck provides a full-on Southern feast, from brisket and pulled pork to corn bread. There are plenty of fancy venues on the Shoreline, but if you're looking for something a bit out-of-the-box, Beech Tree Cottages could be just the ticket.
