I am very happy to give a five star review so far in the process which is basically just from our visit. First I'll share that my husband HATES shopping, and really HATES pushy salespeople, but does have an opinion on what type of chair and couch he sits on, so I needed him to accompany me on this trip. We'd been to other furniture stores in the past where we were attacked by salespeople upon entering the store. This is such a turnoff to him. But here were greeted as we walked in the door and given an opportunity to walk around by ourselves with someone later asking if we needed any help. Donna was so helpful and friendly to deal with. We narrowed down the chairs right away and she helped us with the couches and fabrics. I had brought a pillow with me that had the fabric of the window treatments in the room that we were keeping so we needed to coordinate fabrics to go with it. She was great with that. She allowed us to take the fabrics home with us to see how they looked in the room. She wrote up a quote for us as well. Not pushy at all!! Upon my second visit we needed a slightly different shade for one fabric and then we ordered. Pretty seamless. The new location in Clinton is beautifully done. The quality of the (not inexpensive) furniture we bought is sub par. The sofa we purchased with a slip cover immediately began to pill, to the point of looking like junk. The owner agreed that it was inferior, returned it to the manufacturer and, after a very long wait, we finally received a new slipcover that we chose from a different manufacturer. After a year it is now fraying and torn along the seam, where it has begun to unravel as well. This despite the fact that we have fitted seat cushion covers that we purchased because our small dog often jumps up on the couch to sleep. Also, one of the springs popped which my husband was able to repair. The couch is 3 years old and we have no children at home. Very displeased. Won't be returning. read more

I went out of my way to drive to Westbrook tonight (Thursday) solely to visit Madison Furniture Barn. When I arrived at 8:15, I was disconcerted to see several shops had already closed even though the Westbrook Outlets are allegedly open until 9 p.m. Guess what else was closed upon my arrival? Madison Furniture Barn, of course. If you plan on going there, maybe you should give them a call first and see if they're honoring their advertised business hours. I resent that they wasted my time & gas this evening. I don't know whether I'll bother going back. EDIT: Okay, so I just revisited the web site. Here's the deal. YOU HAVE TO IGNORE THE HOURS LISTED ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THE WESTBROOK OUTLETS WEB SITE. But how on earth would you know to do that?? They don't mention it on the hours page under the general hours. You have to manually click down in the drop-down list on every single store to see if that store is also open until 9 p.m. or not. This is really poor design. If you're curious, currently every single store in the outlet mall closes at the advertised time for the entire mall (which means many stores tonight did close early without any prior notice to the customer); Madison Furniture Barn appears to be the one exception that closes at 8 p.m.. But who knows when these stores change their hours. So, if you plan on going anywhere in the outlet mall, go to the web site and click on every single individual store page and find out. Purchased a made to order sofa about 1.5 years ago. It's already starting to rip at some of the seams. Since day 1 it also had an odd odor. I took the removable cushion cover off where the smell was strongest and there was a bizarre stain on the inner cushion that I can't get out because I can't wash it. It's like someone spilled some sort of food on it during manufacturing and just let it be. For the price of this furniture I would expect much better quality. read more

So someone gives Madison Furniture Barn one star because they arrived there after 8 PM and it was closed. First, that's your fault. Anyone with a brain cell would think "gee, it's gonna be late, let me make sure it's gonna be open". Second, do you realize what a disservice you're doing to other shoppers who may decide to go elsewhere because of your careless one star, and miss out on this gem? Anyway, I've purchased several items from MFB over the past 8 years. Each time, the service has been great - from buying decisions through delivery. Every delivery since 2011 has been made by the same guy - Rick - a consummate professional who takes extraordinary care from the minute he drives up. I trust him and his crew without reservation. Most importantly, the products I've received are of perfect quality. Today Rick delivered a new sofa i purchased in November. The women at MFB helped me pick out fabrics for sofa and pillows to match the decor in my family room from photos I showed them. Now the sofa sits in my family room looking perfect - like I paid an interior decorator to come here and design it all. Further, the sofa that was delivered is everything I expected. It is exactly the same quality as the one on the showroom floor. I can't say enough how happy I am with this an the other furniture I've bought at MFB. I won't go anywhere else. read more
