I finally had the pleasure of checking out' the train car turned bar, and it was such a vibe! I kicked things off with the Driftless Tide-gin, blackcurrant, mint, basil, lemon, and raspberry-all blended to perfection. For round two, I couldn't resist a French 75, complete with a fun twist: rock candy! Loved it. Brian and Eddison were behind the bar, and they were fantastic. Madison bars never fail to introduce you to great people and good times!

It's a good idea. The owners seem to be working through the kinks. The cocktail menu is a lil limited. In fact the menu only lists canned cocktails - no thanks. Pro Tip - they will actually make you a real cocktail not from a can upon request. Bartender made a Manhattan. It was a bit slow in the making but turned out quite nicely. They serve a lot of their drinks in plastic cups. Something I despise. Please stop that. It's worth a stop for one drink but not two.

Went to Local Motive just for drinks one night and it was such a vibe! Cute ambiance, very Agatha Christie murder mystery feel. The bar is in a train car parked next to the Harvey House restaurant. It's only open on the weekends and we were lucky to go when there wasn't an event. The bartenders were kind, clearly had some regulars they knew well, and spent such time and precision on our drinks. I've never seen someone spent such care cutting a raspberry to fit mint leaves in it so delicately. The cocktails were complex and delicious, the seating is comfortable and eclectic with some train view films on to make the experience feel more real. I love the art displayed in it too. Drinks were not as pricey as I would have thought given the location, vibe and complexity. And the menu was bigger than I'd expect too! I highly recommend for a fun night out or even to rent the place for a theme party or event.

I think this place has potential. It is on the line for being four stars but I think they need to do something's for improvement. First, fix signage. The sign on the street is very misleading and makes it seem like the bar is actually within the bike shop. Second, add ounce amounts for pours and glassware? It could even be mismatched which would add to the charm of everything in the town car itself Three, have some music playing and masks on and ready when folks enter. Fix those and I think this will be 4 stars and a cute place for folks to visit before dinner. If you're in the area it doesn't hurt to stop by and get a cute photo, but otherwise, nothing to rave over.

The lighting is intimate and the decor relies heavily on dark corners and draped curtains. The place simply oozes atmosphere and looks like something straight out of a David Lynch movie. It's hard to categorize the Corral Room Bar. It straddles the line of both divy and classy. Both seedy and romantic. If you're on a date and you REALLY want to impress someone, take them to the Corral Room. P.S. I'm pretty sure this is the only place in madison where you can order escargot.

We ordered the French onion soup, cheese curds (not available on the upstairs menu), scallop appetizer, steak sandwich and the pineapple upside down cake (also not listed on the late night menu but on the upstairs Tornado room menu). Pros: We could get quality cheese curds that weren't normally an option here! They had many of the fav's from the upstairs menu available as a late night late night option. The dessert was amazing, as always! Con: The steak sandwich had been rumored to be a showstopper but ours was thin pieces of tough, chewy steak. Nothing close to what I'd have ever guessed possible for this usually elite steak house on even its worst day. Major disappointment.

It happened to be near the theatre we went to, so we decided to stop in and check it out. They have nearly 775 different types of whiskey to choose from, which is wild! I loved that they offer different ounce sizes so you can sample a few, and they even pair it with water so you stay hydrated while tasting (smart touch). Price ranges between ~$7.50-$20.00+. The place had a cozy, lounge-like vibe and was pretty busy, but the staff was friendly and helpful. It's first come first served for seating, just like any bar. We sampled a few whiskeys and also tried their premade espresso martini. The whiskey selection was phenomenal, the espresso martini was decent, not the best I've had (it was premade), but still enjoyable (it's made with Tito's, which isn't my favorite base, but I appreciate the fresh coffee beans they used). All in all, this place is a hidden gem. Great whiskey, friendly staff, and the perfect cozy spot to escape the rain for a while. I'll definitely be back next time to try even more from their list!

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the host, who we later found out was a AG Manager Dillon. He immediately made us feel welcome. After we were seated, Dillon brought us water right away and let us know that our server, Kyle, was helping a few other tables but would be over shortly to take our drink order. We really appreciated the communication, as so many restaurants leave you wondering where your server is. We had seen the Date Night menu online, which included a choice of wine. Since we don't drink alcohol, we asked if we could substitute a pitcher of iced tea instead. Dillon was happy to make that happen, which was such a thoughtful touch. We also had a wonderful conversation with him while getting settled. Seems like he has a wonderful future ahead with schooling. Always wonderful to see kind and hardworking young matured adults. Kyle soon came by with our tea, introduced himself, and took exceptional care of us throughout the evening. He made sure we were comfortable, anticipated our needs, and even surprised us with extra desserts alongside our beignets to celebrate our anniversary. His hospitality was truly top notch, and he made our evening feel special. For dinner, we ordered the etouffe and the shrimp bbq dish, and both were absolutely delicious! There were so many other menu items that caught our eye, so we'll definitely be back to try more. What impressed us most was watching the team work together. It seemed like they might have been a little short staffed, with Dillon and Kyle constantly moving throughout the dining room alongside the bartenders and kitchen staff. Despite that, they never missed a moment. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about every guest. We even overheard other tables complimenting the service and food they received. This was such a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Merchant delivered outstanding service, incredible food, and genuine hospitality from start to finish. If you're looking for a restaurant with amazing food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere, whether for dinner or drinks, Merchant is the place to go. We will be back for more soon!

I had dinner plans, so I just wanted to stop in for a drink and snack. They have some really good offers for HH and their cheese curds are half off. I had never had one, so it sounded like the perfect time to try. I got a glass of wine and the curds. They came out quickly, hot and fresh. It was a big bowl of fried cheese. They come with ranch and hot honey, and apparently they recently won best cheese curd at the cheese curd crawl. They were super tasty. Well seasoned, perfectly fried, and kind of chewy. I am not on the hot honey frenzy train, but I tried it and thought it paired well, just wasn't for me. The ranch was tasty though. Even the happy hour portion was hefty and I couldn't put down half. A little wine and cheese on a beautiful day, just makes for a good experience. They were making some pretty interesting cocktails behind the bar, and it is definitely worth coming back to try out their other options.
