Stopped by here for a night cap. We honestly had no idea this space was here. You can almost miss it, but the entrance is to the left of Young Blood (be careful on the stairs up!) The interior was such a fun vibe. We loved the purple lighting and all the decor, made for great photo backgrounds. Also, the view is so underrated. The windows on the right side overlook King Street! The drinks were great also! Our favorites were the clear old fashioned and Miami vice. Staff were super nice. They were a little busy for a Friday night but we still got everything we ordered relatively fast. Overall great experience. Stopped in for a night cap after dinner downtown, and was pleasantly surprised by the chill vibe. Plain Spoke Cocktail Company gives off an 80's vibe, and it didn't disappoint with the music selection! It was very clean and tastefully decorated, with a simplistic feel. The staff was friendly, and there are so many options to choose from for drinks. I was intrigued to try a pack of the canned cocktails to go, but they won't let you drink any there - so instead I opted for a freshly made cocktail. It was very tasty! There are two rooms, the bar room and then another off of that with plenty of tables. The view from that room is fantastic! It was fun to watch the nightlife while sipping a drink near the window. Went here last night for a night on the town! The vibe was electric, full of music and laughter. The crowd was a good mix of casual and dance and seemed to be having a great time. Plain Spoke is by far my favorite spot in Madison! First of all, Lucas is the best and most personable bar tender. He is so kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. Every cocktail he makes is gold! He remembers my husband and I every time we come and knows exactly what we order. He is seriously the best! The drinks are super unique and and delicious. They have an extensive drink menu, appetizers and small bites, vegan donuts, and loads of cool garnishes to top off your cocktail. I've loved every drink I've gotten at Plain Spoke! Their cans of mixed drinks are also really good and high ABV. You would be shocked at how good the taste is, especially since it's in a can. The atmosphere is super cool and trendy! They have lots of neon signs and decor, plants all around, and modern tables and chairs. It's such a cool relaxing place to enjoy a drink. They also are taking COVID 19 very seriously. They offer masks up and hand sanitizer upon entry. They also sanitize between customers, have all table and chairs spread out at least 6 feet, enforce wearing masks, encourage customers to stay seated, and follow capacity limits. I must warn you the place is a little hard to find on a top floor across from the Majestic and you will have to hike up a steep staircase to get to the place but it's an awesome, fun, trendy, retro vibe place with lots of neon lighting. They have an awesome creative unique drink menu with crafty cocktails on draft everything from tropical drinks, twists on old classic drinks like an Old Fashion, delicious frozen slushy drinks like Pina Coladas, etc. I usually order an awesome Pina Colada or Miami Vice frozen drink which is super refreshing. Many people also really love the Hibiscus Cooler which is bubbly bourbon & berries cocktail which is super delicious! The drinks are all reasonably priced on average around $9-12. This place is not open super late usually only open until midnight but a great place to gather with friends or on a date night! So, holy shit. My fiancé and I are from Florida, and we love a good frozen cocktail-- even in the winter. THAT'S NOT HERE. After we had JUST been helped, another bartender from the other side came over to check because our bartender appeared to literally not care we were here. Of course, I didn't know what was about to unfold or else I would have just walked out at that alone. So, he makes my drink. Party in the USA. He then pours my fiancé's drink. Anyways, my drink was shit. As was his, expectedly-- it was on tap like what did we expect. Of course, nowhere was it expressed bar drinks were tap, so how were we to know? Also, the bartender with a traditional American eagle on his neck served a pretty clearly 19 year old girl a shot right in front of us... then took one with her. Like... what? He didn't even ID. I'm 22, and he didn't ID me either. That's far too close for comfort. Pretty sure nobody beyond 3 obviously college-going girls were ID'd in the HOUR we were there. I'm a law student, and that smells like a lost liquor license. I'd be ashamed to charge $11 a drink here. Don't run, flee. (Typed this on notes because I'm THAT mad and their wifi is broken.
