We were driving past the Madison River and saw all these people in inner tubes, floating down the river. Then we saw the Madison River Tubing truck and so I looked into them and what they had to offer. It looked and sounded so fun, so I decided to book it online. The process was easy and smooth. The website did say each person needed a Montana Conservation License, which I had to purchase separately on another website. It was easy enough, however, I was never asked to present it. Maybe it was just in case. They also have coolers, dry bags, waterproof Bluetooth speakers, towels and waterproof phone cases for rental. We arrived on the day of our excursion at the "California Corner" and checked in. I had added a Bluetooth speaker and dry bag to our reservation. The river was flowing really fast while we were there, so our float was only about 90 minutes, but it was a lot of fun! You have to watch out for rocks and brush, but other than that it was a really fun and relaxing time. That water was a little chilly, but it felt good on such a hot day! A very fun tubing experience with Madison River. I went twice! Once on the round trip bus from Bozeman and the second time using the shuttle from Black's Ford to the put-in. The drive to the put-in is so beautiful I recommend that option. The company is well-organized, safety conscious and helpful at the put-in and take out. It's a wonderful way to experience the Madison River and the scenery. And, you will cool off! Take beer if you like but have a designated driver. read more

Absolutely fantastic. I live here and because it's so affordable I plan to do this SOOOO much more often. At mid-float: first I heard an eagle scream... the I SAW the Bald Eagle fly along the mountainside. Most excellent. I'm from California and we did this same day on a whim. Great price. You can't wear strapless shoes (flip flops). Your shoes will 100% get wet. They sell water shoes for like $13. For the price, totally worth the $35 a person. The river smells like an aquarium but you get used to it. We brought drinks and floated. Thank you so much MRT! We had a blast on the river. We bought snacks ahead of time and enjoyed them on our float. They also will rent coolers to your group as well if you need. The river was shallow in spots so we kept getting stuck on the pebbles and river grass but it was ok. We managed. It was about a 2.5 to 3 hour float and we laughed and ate our way down the river. It's a gorgeous drive to the put in with some cute places to stop in Bozeman which we hit on our way home. After our float there was a bus waiting for us to take us back to our cars. Came here with a group of 14 for a leisurely summer float down the Madison River, and dare I say it may have been the highlight of the trip! Because our group was so large they had to split us into two, but you still are going to the same drop off, it's just about who's tube you're tied next to. You can rent dry bags and coolers for anything you want to bring along (which I would recommend!) for a pretty reasonable price. Life vests are optional for adults, but a trick of the trade, bring one along anyway, makes for a good seat cushion. The bus ride out takes a little under an hour, and the float itself is about 2-3, depending on the current of course. But once you get dropped in, it's all up to you, no guide or anything, they will just meet you down at the other side. There are few things more relaxing to me than getting to just lazily float along, drink some ice cold beverages and shoot the breeze with your best friends all while taking the gorgeous nature around you. I'd also recommend wearing some water shoes, as you will need to potentially get in and out of the tube which can have some slippery footing if you're not careful. read more

This was a good experience for us. We called at the last minute, and they were able to accommodate us with tubes and a cooler, which was awesome. My only complaint, and it's not a complaint with the company but with the river, was that the current was rather fast that day. Before we knew it, the trip was over! Flawless from beginning to end. We were a little late because one of our tubers had the runs from a long night of drinking but thats another review, know what I'm sayin'? They Called us to check on our status. They were super cool about it. Anyway, it was super easy checking in and the guy that drove us on a school bus was super chill. Wait, when is the last time you were on a school bus? Total bonus BTW!! We got there and the guy was super accommodating and knew his stuff! The calm, relaxing tube ride down the Madison River was awesome! I am so happy we go t to do it. We had a group of 11 and flowed down together no problem. Great family activity, and one of the few things we could do with our 4 year old. Efficient and friendly pick up and drop-off. Remember to reserve an extra tube for a cooler and gear (we didn't know to do this, but they were super accommodating). I would get on at the 2nd stop at the distillery because a) its a great place to kickoff the trip, and b) and it means a shorter ride on the bus. I would suggest bringing towels at least (if not a change of clothes too), and leaving them on the bus. Pricing seems totally reasonable, for a fun family experience! read more

While visiting my family here in Bozeman we decided to get out on the water with Madison River Tubing. It was sort of last minute but I was able to reserve tubes (same day) with ease over the phone. The driver and staff were friendly and eager to make our trip comfortable, safe and without headaches. We rented 1 cooler and a speaker. I was pleasantly surprised that the cooler came supplied with ice and the speaker was accompanied by a waterproof bag for the phone. Overall it was a terrific experience, well worth the fee for the drive + tube and would highly recommend for families and groups of friends. My review would be 5 stars if I had the following: 1. The person who reserved my bus trip did not advise what time to arrive or that waivers could be completed online before our arrival. 2. I was not advised that there would be ice in the cooler or that lifejackets were provided for no additional fees. I had to keep calling back to get the information I needed. I don't know how established the company is, and maybe it's on their website, but I never looked since we just caught their business in driving by. Everything was great! All the staff were helpful and welcoming especially the receptionist that took our reservation via phone and our bus driver, Johnson. My only regret is it wasnt a longer excursion! We had a great time for the 2 hours we were floating and could have easily drifted for an additional 30 mins to an hour. A little wooden canoe paddle or kayak paddle would have been helpful for steering our 4 tube flotilla. Next time I will bring one. Water shoes are a must as there are sharp rocks, uneven terrain, and slippery algae and weeds. Tubes have a mesh bottom so rent 1 spare tube to hold a small cooler, hat, sunblock, and snacks. We found Madison River Tubing on the internet and gave them a call.....the most helpful and friendly staff we have ever encountered. The other two flight attendants on our crew joined us for a wonderful trip. This was a cluster from start to finish. I booked a 10:30 trip; then, we got bumped to 11:30 so they could accommodate a large group of about 25 people. We were told we had to be at the launch by 11:30; we were there at 11:15. Madison River Tubing showed up at 11:45, and decided to get the large group out first, which took 20-25 minutes. By this time, the 12:30 groups had shown up, and it became a free for all to grab a "guide" and get u going. 12:30 groups left before 11:30 groups as the "guides" took zero control to organize the launches. At the end of the float trip, they say "one person per party" to shuttle u back to the launch. Again, lack of organization. Entire groups got on the shuttle, leaving people waiting for quite a while to get on a shuttle. I wound up getting on a one and arriving back at the put-in at the same time as 12:30 groups. Oh, and zero offer of anything for the inconvenience of changing our reservation. Now, the trip was awesome, but no need to use these guys if u have more than one car. Just coordinate the drop off and pick up. Try Big Boys Toys or Roundhouse Sports and rent tubes on your own. read more
