Unfortunately after speaking with Ethan (owner) numerous times- we are STILL stranded in a RV rented out by his company and Cruise America. We drove it out of the lot from his shop and within 24 hours bolts were shearing off the right front tire and the cab was shaking wildly. My husband pulled over and there were 4 (of 8) bolts left and only 2 of those bolts had remaining lug nuts!! Not only that but Cruise America said it would be safe to stay in blackout conditions on the side of the highway just because we had a generator!! We were probably 2 sharp turn away from death on the highway out here in Glacier National Park!! I am speechless that a RV leaving a mechanic looking shop wouldn't have had the tires checked. Not to mention there was no spare under the luggage compartment. We flew in from Florida for a RV trip around a half marathon and this had been nothing but a DISASTER!! read more

During my stay at the 320 guest ranch in Montana, they booked a snowmobile adventure for my mom and I at Big Boy Toys. Our adventure started on a beautiful snowy day in February. They gave us the riding gear we need and we were off. The snowy trails were beautiful. Our guide was a little frustrated how slow we went , but we are not speed freaks. He went ahead and mom and I took our time. We just wanted to try out the sport and sightsee at the same time. We rode for about two hours and had a blast. I was a lucky winner of the Non Commercially guided snowmobile access program this January at Yellowstone and was not really sure where to start with planning my trip from across the country. I came across Big Boy Toys while researching where to rent snowmobiles close to the north entrance. I was in contact by phone and email during the process of getting the rental set up and had a great experience from the beginning! My questions about the snowmobiles were quickly answered and everything was ready to go for my trip. Picking up the sleds and trailer was quick after we were given instructions and checked out. We happened to have a random mishap with one of the sleds that did not start a few hours into our trip in the park. We got the other sled back to the lodge and called Big Boy Toys to see what to do with the other snowmobile. The staff tried to be as helpful as possible so that we could finish our trip and get it all taken care of on our way back out of the park. It turned out to be an issue with a starter which wasn't something that could be controlled, so they were great about reaching out and taking care of the issues. If I am ever back in Bozeman or Yellowstone again I will look them up for rental needs! read more

Do not rent from them! We had a great time riding in Montana. The rental company was great, until we returned the sleds and they claimed we had done $500 worth of damage on one machine. We rented three sleds. The "damage" they claim was on the snowmobile track. We removed a single 1inch by 1inch piece of the snowmobile track paddle. When we rented the sled it had two damaged paddles, already. It's normal wear and tear on the machine. The track is the part of the sled that gets the most use throughout the season. They claimed we had done all the damage. The riders all season before us could've of helped in the deterioration of the track and we were stuck paying for it. Very disappointed! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and DISHONEST MANAGERS. SHORT STORY: We rented a jet ski for the whole day, got 45 working minutes out of it while paying $400 including a QUESTIONABLE REPAIR. STAY AWAY if you want to rent anything with a motor. LONG STORY: 9:30 on 8/11/2017 we walk into Big Boy's office to rent a jet ski which we had reserved a while in advance. The office is packed with other customers waiting in no particular order and no staff insight. After finally being helped, we were sent outside to the jet-ski, which was dirty and looked heavily used. I already thought, I hope this thing works better than it looks. Jeb, the "Front-End Manager" gave us a fairly rushed introduction while almost forgetting the most important thing of having the drain plug screwed in. Glad we asked, because we probably would have been charged for sinking the jet ski and the recovery despite the lack of proper introduction for novice users. Anyway, after this 30-minute below average experience, which mainly consisted of waiting, we were excited to get to the 1.5 hour away Canyon Ferry Lake. As beginners, we carefully put the the jet-ski into the water at a boat ramp. We also followed the instructions of Jeb to swim the jet ski out into neck-deep water without starting it. Not a "technique" we saw from other jet ski owners at the lake, but we wanted to be safe. Finally at 1pm we took the first round on the jet ski. After we got back from our first 15-minute ride on the lake we parked the jet ski at least 80ft from the shore and swam back to shore, making sure to follow the instructions of Jeb. After a brief break, we swam out to take another round on the jet-ski. We took a longer 30-minute cruise around the lake, but suddenly the jet-ski lost power and started stuttering. Mind you, we were in very deep water when the ski malfunctioned and did not run over anything. We were about 400ft away from shore, but to not take any chances we swam the jet ski back to shore. A great workout included for free in the rental! Back ashore, I called their office immediately to inform them that something was not quite working right. Joe the "Service Manager" diagnoses the problem as a broken wear ring and adds that those break for half of the customers that rent jet-skis from them. A little bit confused that this part would break that easily and that he could pinpoint the problem exactly from afar, we swam the jet-ski another 500ft to the nearest boat ramp to avoid further damage and loaded it back onto the trailer. Well, after almost swimming the jet-ski more than riding it we are on the way back to Bozeman to Big Boy Toy's office (1,5 hour car ride), in full hope that we would be reimbursed for our lost rental time. Back at the office, we talk to Jeb, who blamed us for breaking their jet ski by running over a stone, telling us we now have to pay for parts and repair. After pressing him and elaborating that we did not mishandle the jet ski and that we followed his instructions, he said quote: "He is nice because he will not charge us for the loss of rental income in the coming days, since he had to order the wear ring which he does not have in stock". It is clearly our fault as well, that he does not have this part in his shop which breaks 50% of the time. After basically getting pushed out of the door while being referred to Joe the "Service Manager" who conveniently was not there at that point, but would give us a call later tonight, we left the Big Boy Toy's location quite frustrated. After not getting a call the same day, I finally received a voicemail on my phone from Joe the next day, in which he informed me that the jet-ski is back in working order and that we owe them another $160 for the repair. Interesting, since Jeb said the day before that they did not have the part in stock. Not understanding to be liable for what seems to be a wear & tear part and paying a full day of rental for 45 minutes of riding, I call Joe back. A 30-minute phone conversation follows in which Joe constantly tells me that I rode over a stone and broke his jet ski. Additionally, I screwed up his dinner plans with his girlfriend, since he had to stay longer and fix the jet-ski. Remember, this is coming from a "manager". Furthermore, he schools me on personal responsibility and how other customers were totally fine paying for repairs like these, which I find hard to believe. The fact that his jet skis break down 50% of the time and are maybe not properly maintained is obviously out of the question. Over a week after the "rental" I am still waiting for the repair bill, which Joe said he will email me, although I already have been charged on my credit card for it. A call from the owner which I requested has not happened either. If I misused the machine I would own up to my mistake. I used the machine carefully and how I was instructed.The fact that it broke so early into the rental, I was looking for a more reasonable compromise. read more

We rented a bunch of rafts from them and didn't have problems with any of the rafts or trailers, they worked great for what we were doing. Big Boys Toys pretty much has everything for your Madison River-floating needs. $10-15 for a day tube rental (depending on how fancy-schmancy you like to go--some have cup holders, headrests, etc). They also have life preservers, kayaks, rafts, paddle boards, and canoes. And free twine to create your tube caravan. Also of utmost importance when floating: cooler tubes. Apparently they can run out of those quite quickly on nice summer days... Tip: they do not have any form of insurance, so you pop the tube, you pay for it. You deflate it, you pay a reinflation fee. Watch out for those rocks! read more

We came here to fill up our inner tubes when we floated the Madison River a couple weeks ago. The process was simple, the prices were great, and it was easy. They have a store inside with a few items to purchase - some of the clothing is kind of ridiculous (a white hat covered in rhinestones? Maybe it's just a different fashion sense out there on the river...), but they have some cute dresses that are cheap enough to buy last minute if you've decided what you're wearing won't work well in water. read more

New owner (Dean) seemed like a nice guy. Unfortunately he hasn't figured out customer service yet. Rented two sleds for 10 days and took them to Cooke City. One sled never worked (-20 degree weather, only had an electric start). Got help from folks in town, nobody had luck getting it started. We called and left a message on their automated system looking for help. After no call back or response to our inquiry message, we drove back from Cooke to return the sled (6hr round trip drive). Initially they apologized and said a refund was fair, however, they subsequently told us the sled had no starter issues and we would be charged the full price for the days the sled was out. It was 53 degrees in Bozeman when we returned the sled.. hardly a fair comparison. Regardless, very unsatisfied with their service and disappointed they didn't make an effort to make things right. Had high hopes to continue renting from these guys but would recommend looking elsewhere - old machines with plenty of issues and they put it on the customer if there are any problems. read more

SAFETY ISSUES!!! Please Read Before Tubing!!! Big Boys told us that tubing was a very easy ride and that life jackets were not needed. (!) So sorry we believed this. PLEASE get life jackets for everyone and TETHER your kids to you!!! Make sure everyone understands all the safety rules before starting and knows where the end point is!! The river seems very easy but it the current can sneak up on you. We had older relatives losing control of their tubes and getting hypothermia after an anticipated summer rainstorm. We lost track of one of our kids. Very scary experience!!! Please don't take this "easy" float as lightly as Bog Boys makes it out to be. "Easy" floats can go bad quickly and unexpectedly. Pack extra layers and tether yourselves. You can get separated very quickly on this "slow" river and it's impossible to get back to each other. Big Boys was NOT responsible about teaching us safety protocol. Major liability and I PRAY that no one ever gets seriously injured or lost. Big Boys needs to: Assume that some clients don't have tubing experience. Strongly Encourage life jackets. Encourage tethering tubes!!! Clearly demarcate the exit point and make sure everyone knows it. Keep tabs on weather patterns and alert customers. read more

What we did not do, we were charged for damage. They refused to refund the money to us. There was a need to contend the cost through the credit card company of the Company. What kind of place tries to charge you for a flat tire that happens literally 20 min after they give you the quads, threatens to charge you extra rent (4 days) for the 'days missed' from said flat tire and makes a verbal agreement with you only to back out of it when he doesn't have to deal with you in person. Joe, you're dishonest, plain and simple. I've rented quads several times... Tires are wear and tear on off road vehicles, anyone who offroads knows this. Chargeback filed with VISA and I suggest anyone who has issues with this business to do the same, because all they do is try to screw you. read more

Overall a very good experience. The staff was very polite and accommodating regarding the shifting of rental days due to below 0 weather. My only gripe was that the Ski Doo 800 was a bit hammered, but that's more due to the untold amount of idiots that had rented it prior and run it into things whilst pinning the throttle. Pro Tip: If you seriously damage a rental sled, be honest with them when you bring it back. No one will believe you ripped the handlebars off and ruined an A-arm by "pulling up on it super hard while doing a tailstander". They'll probably be more inclined to work with you on the repair costs if you're upfront about what actually happened. read more

The crew and owner over at BBT are amazing. We have rented trailers in the past from them and everyone was so friendly and helpful. That is especially true when I had a last minute situation come up and didn't need their c5 car trailer. I was expecting to eat a large fee but they were able to work with me as they figured the could still get it rented and got me out of my rental. Joe rented us a U-Haul trailer one way to California. I had booked online through U-Haul and they were not good with confirming. I called him directly and he was super helpful. He was able to confirm and extend our reservation. He hooked us up, gave us tips and packing blankets. I didn't feel like we were just an inconvenience for him as I have felt in other similar businesses. I give a 4 star only because the trailer leaked terribly and it delayed us a day and we had to fix it ourselves even though we bought insurance. We were far from Bozeman after the leak was noticed. This was a reflection only of U-Haul. Joe was awesome. read more
