Me personally I don't like this place - there is no conversation with the clients - the employees don't even speak to each other - they ignore everyone else ...the music is so so loud and well horrible -- add to sitting there for 1 to 1.5 hours WAITING... no thanks - I'll find somewhere else for my sons to go ... why can't they do appts ? Brought my son here for a trim. He had an existing perm and just needed it neatened up. Needless to say, when the cut was done, the entire existing perm was basically gone. Barber took off way too much and then matted it down with mouse. Mind you I showed this gentleman a picture of my son when he had just gotten the perm. Rolled into MadMen Williston Park with my Brother and Stepson today. We were all looking pretty shaggy and in dire need of haircuts. I've been wanting to try this place for quite sometime but with the Covid shutdown and then the tight rules after it wasn't happening. As restrictions eased and we started looking like we'd been trapped in the island with Tom Hanks and Wilson, the time had come to go. So Saturday morning the three of us drove over not knowing what to expect. Walking in we were greeted by all the staff and were very pleased to find there was an empty chair right away. Not wanting him to feel neglected, we tossed my son out there and had him be the first in the chair. My Brother was next to go and before I could enjoy the soft leather of the waiting area's chairs, I was up and sitting in one of the coolest barber chairs I'd ever sat in. Now I'm not a small guy, I stand 6'5" and am pushing nearly 380 but I was quite comfortable in this chair. My barber was Arian and I've seen him in a few of the posts on Instagram. Really like what I've already seen. I explained that I've been basically buzzing my hair myself for quite sometime but along with a beard shaping to a goatee and a shave, that I was looking to change things up. I told him I trust his judgement and away we went. I could not have been happier with the results!! The cut my son got was truly spot on. And though he pretty much got the same style that he's had for years it was done with such precision that he looked totally different. Sharper. Better than his old place by leaps and bounds. My Brother explained that he's had the same style for over 30 years and wanted something different. What he got floored us all! The ladies back home spent the day complimenting his new look and he was pretty happy with it. So all in all this was an amazing experience for us all. The decor is awesome and just keep looking around at what you may spot. I especially liked the poster of Michael Caine from the film "Get Carter" hanging up high! Prices were quite decent especially for the quality of work these artists performed on us. We will be returning and if you've read this far, I recommend you give them a try as well. I've been here twice now after my old barber disappeared from the shop I used to go to. These barbers seem to put a lot more effort into cutting my hair than most of the "old man" barbers in the area. I have to admit I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here but I personally have no complaints. The 1st time I was there, it was a little crowded and there was a bit of controversy with some other people as to who walked in first. That would be my only criticism... it's walk ins only and they dont have a good system in place for determining who is next. Beware! This barbershop is all looks but the staff here do not follow directions. My son will show a picture of his desired haircut in addition to me requesting to keep the length. I believe I mentioned it three times. Once before his haircut and twice during the haircut. I look down on my phone and then look back up and they chopped off the length significantly! I am unsure if he actually paid attention to my request because he had ear pods on! This has happened three times in a row. Never again are we going back! I would give 0 Stars if i could. I'm new to the area and tried this place for the first time today. WORST SERVICE. Half Ass haircut. I had Carlos. 1. Walked in and wasn't greeted. I asked if there was a long wait if i had to sign in or anything and was hardly acknowledged and asked to have a seat. 2. I tried explaining what I wanted which was a fade from a half to a scissor cut and not to fade with the clipper up too high in the back as my hair is thinning. I wanted my beard faded in my cut and taken down and to be edged with a razor as most barbers do. I prefer barbers over salons because I want the razor shave. When i was explaining what I wanted he rushed/ignored me completely. 3. I politely asked him to fade higher bc it was too low and he said "maybe next time". 4. Asked if i wanted the Razer as if hoping I'd say no thanks. Went and used a razor WITH NO SHAVING CREAM or anything. Didn't edge my beard at all. 5. Didn't bother cutting the hair on top at all, rushed me out of the chair and didn't even put powder or try to clean the hair off me. Just took my cape off walked to the front expecting me to follow and pay. 6.Spoke Spanish the whole time to his coworkers and barely engaged with me. SO RUDE. 7. Took a phone call. So unprofessional. I have been going here since they opened this location in Williston Park and I shall start by saying the staff is very welcoming at first arrival. Often times they offer customers and guests bottled water and espresso while they wait, which is kind of unique. Inside has a creative type of aesthetic you can tell by the type of art on the walls. I would say it's a mix between a 1940s prohibition-era speakeasy with a traditional barbershop. One problem is that this place do not let you book appointments ahead of time. Nowadays, if you plan to come by in the afternoon, do not expect to get a haircut as there's a good 45 minute wait time if you choose a specific barber to give you a haircut. The barbers who work there call out who is next to a row of people waiting and all of a sudden my experience feels less friendly and more like the customer is part of an assembly line. What really killed me from going back is that after my barber was finished cutting me, he got up and went straight to the counter, not bothering to show me the back of my head... i found some imperfections with what i asked for and what i got and except acknowledging me, i could tell by his body language he was getting annoyed. This will be the last time I go here, as I showed a coupon from the calendar and the barber still charged me regular price. Aside from the hype over the pool table and the overall ambience, this place is just your average over priced arbershop. Shop apprently opens at 10am aka 1020 aka depends on which barber gets there first to open up. Barber (unknown name), gave me a haircut (fade), did a poor job on blending the face, at the end combed my hair instead of brushing it (my hair texture is not conducive to combing), and he forgot to add the part on my hair. I was so underwhelmed by his cut, that I didn't bother to remind him. Unless you have a solid, established relationship with a barber, I would discourage you from even considering this overpriced gimmick. This shop is amazing. It was suggested to me by a friend and I have not been let down since then (years now). I used to go to the Wantagh location in Nassau County but now my favorite is in Mineola in Nassau County. I live in Freeport so there is travel time since I'm all the way south but it's not too bad on a Sunday morning at all. Guess what...it's ALL WORTH IT. I go every other Sunday around 10am-12pm and to my specific barber BRAILIN. He knows his job and does a magnificent job. I have never waited more than 20 minutes and usually at the time I go I'm first or second. The only reason I wait is for him - but i have tried the other barbers and they also did a great job. Now, it's just too easy and hassle free to come here and deal with Brailin. He knows exactly the cut I like and I never have to remind him. It's a low skin fade and fade it all the way to the top back and sides going from 0.5 to 2 size while spiking it faux hawk style on top. You can also pay with a credit card so it's super convenient to charge and add the tip instead of going to the bank to get cash - I NEVER have cash on me. HIGHLY recommended shop and barbers. When I stopped him an told him that's enough he told me I was done a friend of mine paid him while I walked out an didn't find out later they charged me for what had happened not to mention $40 BUCKS FOR A BEARD TRIM !!! The interior: cool. Barbers in similar attire: cool. Hair cutting results: not bad Not so cool: many things 1) No sign in system! You walk in and have to inspect / count / memorize the faces of all those waiting before you (most of the time I've had 10 people waiting ahead of my son) because once the barber says "NEXT", it's based on the "honor" system. How difficult is it to get a paper and pen and have people write their names as they arrive?! 2) The barbers don't seem happy. No smiles or conversations. My son was seated and getting his cut so I proceeded to go back to my seat. Few minutes later, the barber called me over with an "Ay!" to ask me a question about his hair. Not a "excuse me miss" or anything of that sort, but an "ay" really?? That's how you address people? Especially women? 3) My husband also had a strange experience there. One of the barbers were making ignorant/ racist remarks in Spanish about people of our faith. (My husband understands Spanish) my husband didn't say anything but he was disappointed and very very uncomfortable. It seems they are accommodating and courteous to their Spanish / White customers. We have gone to this place a few times but have decided not to return anymore. It's not worth it. I've been bouncing around between different shops over the last few years. I found my way back to Mad men. Always plenty of barbers on deck and waits aren't bad no matter how busy it looks. I found a great barber but he ended up moving out of state. Luckily, I saw a new barber (Mr. P) and noticed his attention to detail on other customers. Gave him a try and he didn't disappoint. My hair is hard to cut and I like natural cuts. He is highly skilled with scissors, listens well and takes his time to give you a perfect cut. Got an excellent skin fade from Luie. Not only was the haircut good, Luie was friendly and answered all the questions I had about hair and what to ask for to achieve the look he gave me. He told me about my specific hair texture and helped me figure out things other barbers have done to my hair in the past that have lead me dissatisfied (using thinning shears improperly, or the wrong number razor).
