I've been storing my things at this location for four years. You will get a unit at a fair price to start, but they will steadily increase your rate. My current bill is over $422 a month. The electricity in my unit has been out for at least 6 months, that I know of. When I inquired, I was told to change the bulbs. Didn't work. I was then told that the electrician had not submitted a bid to fix it. That was around three months ago, when I got a call about leaving small debris and dirt on the floor outside of my unit. That I need to sweep up after myself afterwards. I agree with this, but that's about where the phone calls stop.
A couple of weeks ago, this place was robbed. The only reason I found out was because I am part of a group text and was accidentally notified. This happened approximately 24 hours earlier. It was pouring rain so I thought I would wait until morning.
I arrived at 0730, on my way to work. Upon entering the building where our unit is, there were several storage units broken into. They had even painted the camera. Once I saw my unit was secure, I left my building to check the other buildings. There was one other building that had been broken into. Both buildings were broken into and pretty damaged.
No, it's not the break-in that's concerning. These things happen quite frequently these days. Whether your car or your house or your storage unit, it happens! The part that is most concerning to me is the lack of interest from the storage facility and its corporate representatives.
You see, there I was, walking around taking pictures and video of damage and people's belongings. People's UNSECURED property!!!
Immediately, I went to the front office. Someone taped closed over Wednesdays scheduled time. So I called the number. This number led me to a company in California. Figures! I spoke with a representative she said that she could see nothing on their end of this being reported to corporate. She told me that she would contact management and send me an email for the pictures and video. I did not receive any email. Management however, did show up.
I called the sheriffs department and a sheriff was dispatched. Once we traveled inside and he saw the damage, he asked me what I was paying. I told him over 400 a month and I do not have any electricity in my unit. So I trip stumble and have to carry a flashlight. He replied with it would be better to buy a Connex. To this I agree
Now the concerning part. I have called corporate. The sheriffs department is there. The manager and I assume owner, are walking up and casually giving greetings. I'm already upset about the electricity, so I'm not willing to accept any excuses as to the why your customers belongings are left UNSECURE!!! But true to form, she laid it on me anyways
She stated that by the time they left, the sheriffs department was conducting an investigation. It was quitting time, so they left. When the sheriffs department was finished, they left as well. But guess who's fault it was, the sheriffs department! Wrong, I do not pay the sheriffs department for securing my shit. I stated how I was able to walk in there at 0730 and no one would've known. That this is a huge problem! Then, the manager says, these doors are damaged what were we to do anyway? Not like we can fix them. We couldn't have done anything so we went home.
Now, I don't own a business. I don't know the ins and outs of how you're paid. I don't even know if you have a family at home, waiting for you to make dinner. But I do know one thing, if I am paying you to secure my shit, with a fence, security cameras, Cypher locks, special Tumbler locks, rollup doors, automated gates, and even certain times that we can access the facility, and that facility gets broken into, then it is your job to make sure my shit remains secure!!! Meaning, I don't care if you have to pay overtime, pay an off duty police officer, or whatever the case may be, you must not leave people's shit unsecure! Then have the audacity to blame everybody else, and everything else, but yourself. Because believe me, if that was your shit, you would've been there!
Bottom line: if you don't mind watching both your wallet and your storage unit getting robbed, then by all means do business here.
No, I do not know who broke into the right space storage, but I definitely know who the thieves are!!
