I had seen Oak Hill Minis for years but never stopped by because it looked old. I wish I had checked it out earlier. The units are clean and safe, and the customer service is excellent and friendly.

I had looked all over town for a good climate controlled building and one that was close to us. When I walked in, I was greeted by David. Such a nice friendly guy! He told me all about the place. How clean it is and they check regularly and there are motion detectors in each unit. That way if someone goes in your unit without your permission it notifies you on your phone. That information and the location, which is closer to where we live is what made me pick this self storage place. We weren't quite ready to get a unit, but knowing the information David gave us it was the right choice. He gave our information to Christa and she called me on the phone and introduced herself. She was so pleasant and sweet. She told me she would keep our name and if a unit popped up that we were looking for she would notify us. So the next month we were in town, Christa had given us another call, so I stopped by yesterday and got to meet Christa. Such a sweet wonderful person. So pleasant and just a downright nice person. David showed me a couple of units and we decided on one and Christa helped me get all set up. This place is so clean and spotless! The inside and so clean too! I would totally recommend this place to anyone that needs a unit. Yes it might be a little more than most storage units, but when you see how clean it is and it has climate controlled units, and motion detectors you might change your mind and get one. Susan Thurber said "Really, you're going to pay this"? I'm thinking I'm standing in front of you stating my intentions. Then I'm hit with " where have you been, you don't answer mail or emails?" At this point I'm beyond belief that this person that states on their website that they are friendly and professional is anything but that. Showed up today to access my unit and noticed my lock had been cut off and replaced with a red lock that said see manager. Nobody is ever working at the office anymore so I called their listed number with no answer so I left a voicemail wondering what happened to my unit that is fully paid and why again I WAS NOT NOTIFIED about whatever is going on with my unit! It appears that it was broken into because there are many units near me that have the same red lock on them and evidence of cut pad locks on the ground. Spoke to a fellow renter in the complex and he said there have been people living in some of the units that have been trying to break into other units that he has had to run off before. There are cameras in the complex and supposed to have in-person security but he said it was so bad he installed his own cameras too. I've been trying to reach management for days and they will not answer or return my calls so I have no choice but to get a lawyer and press charges. STAY AWAY! UPDATE 4/21/20: Spoke to employee of management company that was hired by the owners last year and he told me that there were over 30 units broken into and they are going the video surveillance but the quality of the cameras the owners use is "subpar". Also found out that the on site security only comes by 4 times a night which consists of the security guard doing a quick drive through of the tiny facility (should take 1-2 mins) and then security leaves. Yet, their website says they have on-site security there "almost around the clock". A complete lie. Owners have known about the homeless staying in empty/broken units for years and have been warned about the subpar quality of their cameras for a long time but refuse to put any money into needed repairs or security issues. Hello Lawsuit!

It started with speaking with Steve (One of the owners) about four months ago, as I informed him that I was moving 300 miles to town suddenly and desperately needed a place to store all of my stuff. Steve promised to have a specific size reserved for me, and if they didn't have a unit available when I moved down, that he would let me use his personal garage. That wasn't necessary though, as Steve made sure there was a space available (With about six hours notice from me, once I finally discovered when I was moving), and handled all paperwork over the phone as I was in the middle of a five-hour drive, leaving a lock in the unit because he knew I'd be getting there late in the evening and didn't have a fitting lock. My storage unit was spotless, the entire storage complex was/is spotless, and he was completely understanding and provided incredible customer service when I needed emergency access to my unit at 5am the next week. I've spoken to Steve a couple of times since. He was kind enough to remind me of my due date after I missed payment two months later, and didn't charge me a late fee because they're good people. I just finished a phone call with Steve's son, Mike, who provided equally great customer service and was incredibly accommodating to my requests. I'm removing my things from their unit, only because I've found a place to live in Austin. I would gladly drive back to Buda to continue using their services, because of the amazing customer service I've received. There's no need to storage unit shop. Call them today. Calling and talking to any other company is a waste of time.

In the end, we already had our truck booked and we were stuck using their moving service, but I wish I could've gone with these guys as the whole team was just fantastic as far as being professional, responsive and organized. I also know that the folks that lived in our home before actually had used their services and were quite happy with them.

Keep in mind we paid to have them disassemble and assemble in the one day move. They ruined a brand new mattress with grease hand stains, and did not put our front door back on hinges properly. And to boot...they quoted $4,700 for the move and then hit us with a $5,300 bill, saying their guys worked 30 mins over the quote. The main issue being that they took longer because we had to unpack and find our tools to allow them to use. ***edit to respond to Victoria*** This response is a perfect example of the miscommunication and lack of professionalism. Nobody ever requested to leave a tv up. The day of packing, my husband was playing Xbox and said "whenever yall need to pack this let me know and I'll shut this down". This is also when we discovered that they did not have any tools to remove the TV, so, the TV wasn't going to be removed either way that day. Nobody was ever asked to "make beds" but we paid to have them put together (assembled). The movers also were not met with hostility. You had a group of young men with neck tattoos talking and bragging about their time in prison in front of everyone (including our children). My husband did the responsible thing, which was to address the staff as a whole. I'll mention he also tipped each one $100 bill at the end. We did this because it was apparent that the fault was on managment and not the individuals. They came both days unprepared without proper tools. Two separate groups of movers on two different days being paid to pack, dis-assemble and re-assemble furniture. (How is that possible?) Nobody was ever "cussed out" in person or on the phone. My husband called the very next morning and left a voicemail for the owner that was never returned. This response and lack of accountability again proves why I would never recommend this company.

The units look to be at least 8 ft tall with concrete walls. I got a 5x5 that looks more like 4x5 but the price is good and there are no hidden fees or taxes. Unlike public storage, you don't have to buy their lock. The units are not climate controlled. Access is 7am to 8pm daily through a secured gate system that shuts after every vehicle, so tailgating is not likely. Great location on Ben white near congress. The folks are friendly.
