I started my journey with Mansfield when I was 17 years old. I graduated when I was 34. To no fault but that of my own. Life throws curve balls, and I was hit with many. Janice and the staff at Mansfield NEVER gave up on me. I am eternally grateful for their constant support and encouragement to finish the program. I was not an easy student. With the years of experience the staff here has, they had the ability to work with me and help me achieve my dreams. I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for education in cosmetology, especially passing your boards. Cosmetology school is designed for just that, and this is Mansfield's mission. I was almost afraid to ask the next question: Do you braid, twist, or work on natural non-caucasian hair? The "instructor" almost choked. She responded that Mansfield is a "basic" beauty school.....uhhh yeah, and so what exactly does that mean? Unfortunately, she lives far away and I knew I had to find somewhere to get my hair cut that was closer to my house. I had already been to Rob Roy's Academy to have my hair done for a few proms, family occasions and even before funerals. I always loved the way my hair came out, so I decided to try having my hair cut at Rob Roy's as well. Needless to say, I was very happy with the results! I now have my hair cut by Rob Roy's roughly every month and a half. They have always been professional and always help me decide how I should cut/style my hair. I have also persuaded other family members to try it as well, and my boyfriend was just as happy with Rob Roy's as I was! I highly recommend Rob Roy's Academy in Taunton. I do realize that it is a hairdresser academy, but I honestly believe that the students are just as capable as any hairdresser! I have even noticed that the students at Rob Roy's take their time and involve you in every step of the process. They listen to what you want and do not just do as they please. I find that the more experienced a hairdresser, the less they listen to their customer (usually!). This is not the case at Rob Roy's. Overall, I love this place. I experienced sexual harassment by the massage therapy instructor of the program. It affected me mentally and physically throughout the program. Most of the students and staff knew this information and we felt very uncomfortable. The school facilities received the information about the assault and proceeded to bring me into a group meeting with the harasser (massage instructor) and the rest of the victims which was very nerve-wrecking. Then they proceeded to do nothing with this information except tell students to have more than one person in the room when the teacher wants to teach something or when massaging the teacher. I went to the police to make a report but they said the instructor have the right to say no to an investigation but it would be more beneficial for me if the rest of the victims also shared their experiences in a report, but my most of my classmates were Thai without a green card, or in process if obtaining one and don't want problems, even though the police and I reassured them that it isn't a problem. I have no one to support me because the other victims/ my friends from massage therapy class won't report him. I have no choice but to finish the whole entire program with the feeling of depression, and being stared down upon.
