Magda's Cakes in Stockton, CA. I have eaten a lot of their tres leches cakes and cookies over the years. A family member has brought these cakes to many family events over the years. Our extended family let es these cakes. Lactose intolerant me pops a pill and indulges. Albeit it's a small piece considering it's a tres leche (three milk). The cake is a sponge that has a milky sweet flavor, moist sponge but not soggy. They have different frosting flavors. I've tried the chocolate, vanilla, and a coffee tasting frosted tres leches cakes. Mmm. The cakes are a visual work of art. So darn pretty. The design varies. The cake decorating looks professional. They also sell cookies. Yum! Those little sweet apple filled empanadas are quite tasty as well. I've never stepped foot into their shop. It's not the best that I've ever had and like the reviews were saying, but the customer service wasn't the best either when I went in there and the lady kinda had a attitude. She wasn't very helpful about telling me where specifically the cake was that I have went in there for which was kind of disappointing because I was pretty excited to go and try it. read more

I loved my experience coming to Magda's Cakes; Elda is who helped me...she was very kind and answered all my questions :) I came in and bought the mocha cake that feeds 10/12 people the total for this cake was $35 - I couldn't resist so I bought myself a single serving Oreo cheesecake for $3.50 and I also bought candles which was a plus because I didn't have any and I was expecting to go to another store to purchase this; they have it all :) I am so grateful and the price was sooo good honestly for them being basically "homemade" cakes; you can't go wrong! Went here to get the famous tres Leche cake on Sunday for my wifes birthday week. Look ahead for there hours and it did say open till 3pm. I showed up at 215pm and closed. Even the sign on business says till 3pm. Sad that I had to scramble to find a backup treat. Why have hours of business when you just close when you want. Very frustrating. read more

I stopped by Magda's Bakery and got the ham special sandwich, chips, a drink, and a cookie for $12 and change. The sandwich was fresh and tasty, and the staff was polite and quick with the order. I wish the cookies were labeled, but I picked one with what looked like strawberry on top. The staff confirmed it was, and it turned out to be delicious--soft, not too sweet, and the strawberry jam really made it. Ordered a customer cakes for a party. I called the day of to pick it up and no one answered. I texted, no one answered. I came to pick it up and it was closed.. Talked to the lady afterwards, and they claimed to have called me. I have no missed calls from that date. Overall, the cake looked nice when I came a few days after. But it wasn't done on time, and I had pre ordered the cake. Not to mention I brought the decoration for the cake. Horrible experience. Seriously, some of my most fav cookies ever!!! I had cookies from Podesto's recently, which were also really good for thin, chewy cookies. But if you like thick, soft cookies - Madga's does it the best. I cannot describe how much I love Magda's cookies lol. My favorite ones are the ones with raspberry jam on top. I pre-ordered and paid in full for a cake for my father's birthday from Magda's Bakery two weeks in advance and scheduled it for pickup. When I arrived, the cake's decoration was completely different from what I had discussed with the cake maker. While the cake was still beautiful, I was never contacted about the design changes, which was disappointing. Additionally, the staff attempted to hand me the cake without a box or any covering. When I asked for a box, I was told it would cost an extra $5. Given that I had already paid a $5 decoration fee for a design I didn't receive, I asked them to waive the box fee, but they refused. The lack of communication and unexpected extra charges made this experience frustrating. I expected better service for a pre-ordered custom cake. I wouldn't trust them to make a cake for a special occasion. I wish I would've went somewhere else. read more

Unacceptable Experience--Magda Cakes Forgot My Birthday Order I'm really disappointed in my recent experience with Magda Cakes. I placed my birthday cake order in advance because I was taking it out of town to celebrate with family. My scheduled pickup time was 10 AM today--plenty of time before my trip. When I showed up, not only was my cake not ready... they didn't even have my order on their schedule. I've never had issues here before, but on such a special occasion, this was beyond frustrating. Now they're telling me to wait until 2 PM--which completely throws off my travel plans and has delayed my entire day. This was supposed to be a celebration, and instead I'm stuck waiting around because of their mistake. It's unprofessional and upsetting, especially since this was a pre-planned order for my birthday. The cake is wonderful. I've never had a problem with ordering a cake and having it decorated. Usually I have the sweetest lady take my order. This time I had a different person taking my order and getting charged $100 for the cake I would think they could do better. I could have gone to Raley's or saveMart that would have done way better. I specifically told the person it need to say say Happy 15th Birthday and the colors of the decorations to be black and red. I've told previously orders the same thing in the past the colors I want on the cake and never had an issue. The person who took my order said they don't decorate anymore because the customer was complaining. If this was the case they need to make it known. I just ordered a cake in September and there was no issues then. When going to a specialty cake bakery there are certain services that needs to be met like decorations of the cake minimum, customer service. Also they wanted to charge extra to write the letters bigger. Any cake froster knows you can't have a size 14 font on half of sheet of cake. We won't be going back. I have used this bakery before and liked them but was very dissatisfied with their product for a birthday party. I was shocked with how sloppy the writing on the cake was! Unfortunately, I picked the cake up 15 minutes before close and 30 minutes before the party started so I couldn't even ask to get it fixed. The cake was not boxed up prior to getting there and the person in the front saw what the product looked like leaving the place. It was embarrassing to have to serve that cake at our event.
