I was thinking what can I do to vamp up fun energy and meet some new great people? This class forced me to deal and process the world around me and write it all down to make it funny! I am now hooked! I was nervous performing but I completed it and it was the best thing I've done for my personal growth. I'm so happy I did this class and met some incredible people in the process! I will never forget this life experience and experience!

If you're like me, a girl (or non-binary or trans woman) who lives in LA and is often told, "Wow,…read moreyou're really funny!" (FYI: people telling you "Hey, you smell kind of funny when you wear leather pants to the gym" or "You sure are funny-looking since you shaved off your eyebrows" is not the same thing as being told you ARE funny.) by people when they meet me for the first time. And for years, I suspected I was funny but didn't know how to turn that ability into a marketable skill. That is, until I took a class called "Pretty Funny Women" by the most amazing comedy teacher in Hollywood (and probably in the entire universe), Lisa Sundstedt. Really, I'm not joking when I say that Lisa is literally the best, most gifted, most experienced and most dedicated stand up comedy instructor out there. Before deciding on taking her class, I had started doing open mics on my own and asked around to the other women I met when I was new to the business. And one name was mentioned more than anyone else and with only positive reviews: Lisa Sundstedt and Pretty Funny Women. I spoke to a dozen (or more!) former students and wrote down a few of their responses like (written down verbatim): "Lisa's class totally changed my life!" And, "Lisa helped me understand how precise comedy is. She made me a better comedy writer!" Also, "OMG, my standup set from the graduation show for Pretty Funny Women was so great; I added it to my reel and immediately had offers for comedy roles.!" And not one person I spoke to was unhappy or disappointed or felt that Lisa's class wasn't worth the money they spent to attend. So, I took the class myself and now I'm adding my own review which is this: "Lisa Sundstedt is the best teacher I've ever had. She helped me be the funniest version of myself on stage and I'm so happy I took her class! I got so much out of it, specifically Lisa's instruction, the homework, the camaraderie and feedback and support from all my female classmates! It was much more than I could have possibly asked for or expected. Lisa Sundstedt's Pretty Funny Women classes were worth every penny...and more." Final note: Those who wonder why Lisa's classes are not open to men--it's not because she has anything against men, not at all! She just thinks that women can be most comfortable and uninhibited when they are around women and not worried about men's feelings or being quiet in deference to a man that might be speaking--it's a "safe space" for the women who want to be totally free to express themselves and be as funny as they can possibly be I was not paid anything or received any compensation for this review. I am just a grateful customer who wants as many people to know what a superlative product this business provides to the community because it's the absolute best out there.

Even on days where I'm tired or just not feeling great, the second I get to the studio where I'm welcomed with positive energy and thoughtfulness, I immediately feel better and know I am right where I belong. AGAS is a safe space for learning and growing as an actor, a place where you can challenge yourself and play, but also a community where you can make friends and feel a sense of camaraderie with your fellow actors. The opportunities this studio provides are beyond any other offerings of other studios. For example the additional emphasis of learning the business of acting and how to behave and what to actually expect on set is something that was almost never talked about at other studios I've been to, but it is what has helped me to start to exceed in my career. Also the seamless use of technology to further your learning. Being able to watch the class recordings afterwards has helped me to hone my craft. Additionally, being able to join online when I'm traveling has allowed me to visit my family and not miss a beat in class. This was nice interactive show where audience participation is mandatory for the show to work where people share their breakup texts and those that do get a free shot! It's pretty amazing what people say to break up. Some are hilarious , while some are just what on earth did that come from?! Is this guy coming out of an 18th century novel because who talks or texts that way?! All in all it was an entertaining show and it came with wine ! Bottoms up for those bad dates where you need to laugh it up or drink up to was away the bad memories! They did use one Viral text breakup they found on the web that went viral and showed us it on the screen while they read it out. They are winners of the 2012 Los Angeles Comedy Festival and returning Top 10 Show of Hollywood Fringe Festival 2012. David & Leeman are 2 local magicians who have managed to come up with a ridiculously funny stage performance that syncs perfectly together. Here we have two talented young magicians who expertly produce several magic routines, but are somewhat upstaged by the fast and furious banter that goes on between them. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it makes the show that much more enjoyable and elevates the characters to a whole new level. As a Magic Castle member who has seen literally hundreds of performances, this is definitely something special and easily in my top ten. Their quick banter and the way the personalities play against each other are the highlights, providing us with something different from any other magic show. Using straight comedy magic to mystifying mentalism and supernatural routines, their humor and constant back and forth had me mesmerized at the edge of my seat wanting to see more. For an hour long show, this is something very rare and with the audience participation makes it look as if some of the show is improvised and jokes made up on the spot which they handle well. Both hilarious and brilliant, the two magicians have excellent chemistry which they play off each other perfectly, something that's rare to find. It's exciting to see so many cutting edge magicians that raise the bar and the opportunity to see them so close to home. Tickets for this are $12, but they are available on goldstar.com for only $6! It's open seating also, so you don't get cheap seats with the cheap tickets and for that price it's a steal! Hats off to Jon Armstrong as well, who's own geeky sense of humor and seasoned experience as a magician had his fingerprints printed all over the performance as the director. Masterfully done!
