Fun course, good way to spend some time without spending too much money. We played the 28 hole course. I got beat by about 10 strokes, but I did have a hole-in-one on one hole. We played at night, and there was a concert next door, so we got to hear that for free. Loss of one star for a fair number of insects crawling along the course. read more

While staying in Lake Tahoe for a last minute trip, my husband and I decided to check out Magic Carpet Golf for some mini golf fun last Wednesday. We arrived a little before 12 pm and were greeted by an employee. For the golf course selection, there are 3 options to choose from (but one course was currently closed). We ended up choosing to do the castle course, which has 28 holes. I had cash in my purse so we paid for a smaller discount of $20 per person. If you pay credit card, it would have been $20.60 per person (I am assuming for the credit card fee?). We were given our clubs and 2 colored golf balls. And the employee who checked us in had told us that there is a hole where the mill is not working. The motor to power it is not working but that we can slowly pushing it towards where she is and it should work. The castle themed course is very cute and we really enjoyed seeing each hole, which some of them were really challenging. Some of the holes were also really well constructed and decorated, including the one with a ship and a giant goldfish. We golfed here for about an hour. And I am happy to say that I ended up with the smaller amount of strokes (just by a margin though). Although this course has 28 holes, you only golf with 27 holes. And then for the last one, you come back inside where you paid for your admission and put it in one of two machines. I placed my golf ball into what looks like a plinko style game (which reminds me of The Price Is Right show). But I don't know if I was supposed to try to win something or not or just to watch it make it's way down to one of three holes. And then my husband placed his ball in the other machine that looks like a slot machine. Overall, we had a great time and am glad we were able to make it out here. read more

They have 3 courses here and don't repeat any of the holes. Two 19 hole courses and one 28 hole course. The 19 hole courses are $15 and the 28 hole version is $20. The course is lit at night and I played one of the 19 hole courses. I found it to be in fairly good shape with the carpet being flat without wrinkles. Each hole also has concrete side walls instead of wooden ones. Also this facility caters to the kids with its hole designs. I enjoyed my time here and recommend it for anyone looking for something fun to do while in the area. read more

Cute course with playful themes. We did the dinosaur course as our child loves dinosaurs. We gave him a tiny plastic golf club whuch he promptly kept forgetting as he tried to chade and steal our balls. They kept trying to clean up the pine needles, but they shed like crazy over the course. I almost got a hole in one but the needles were like, "not today!" So that was a bummer. They also have a small arcade inside. read more

It looks old but most things are in Tahoe. Came here with a party of 10. We chose the 28 holes. Initially, it seemed daunting. I thought it would take us HOURS to complete. Once we got our ball and putter we were on our way. Mind you, there were a few groups ahead of us but everyone was respectful and courteous. Each hole had its obstacles which piqued our curiosity. The times here (Yelp) say they close at 10 (on Sunday), but it was actually 9:00. There is no website, but both Yelp and Google maps said a 10 pm close. The link from Google maps led to a general Tahoe activities site which said the same thing!. I originally put 2 stars, but after checking other reviews, and realizing this has been a problem for far too long, I'm changing it to 1 star. This problem could be easily remedied! What a fun and whimsical place to play mini golf. No pressure and completely fills in the nostalgic vibes for me. I always make it a must to come here when I'm in South Lake Tahoe. Is it kind of expensive? Yes. Is it pretty much falling apart? Yes. Did I have a stupid amount of fun? Also yes. I love that there are three courses and you have the option to play through all three (or two, or just one). And they all have different themes. We did the storybook course and the characters were all satisfyingly creepy. It makes for very entertaining instagram pics. The only thing that would set this over the top is if they had a liquor license or let players bring six packs -- then all my kitschy mini golf dreams would come true. read more

So much fun ! We went twice this vacation trip ! The staff were so warm and friendly . A big hit with the entire family ! Make sure you call and check the hours and the last check in time . I recommend the full castle course 28 holes. We were able to bring our own picnic lunch and sit at the tables outside. It would be great if they added a coffee& juice Bar outside or an ice cream: yogurt station and got rid of some of their antiquated decor and the rocket ride that didn't work . A few of the holes need updating and revamping so one star less for that. Bathrooms were nice and clean . We had fun playing air hockey after mini golf. read more

We're two middle-aged fogies that like to do mini-golf whenever we travel. Here's our review of Magic Carpet Golf in South Lake Tahoe. It's located centrally near shops, restaurants and hotels. We paid for 28 holes, ($15 each, Sept '22) but it's really 27 as the last one goes in a 'one armed bandit'. Fun golf hole features, but a little bit homemade/amature looking! Polite staff. Magic carpet golf is so fun! It's located across from the lake. There are a few courses to choose from including one that is 26 holes! There is also an arcade inside. The holes are generally pretty small compared to larger mini golf operations in California but it definitely feels like a local past time each time we go. I brought my children there the first time this summer and they loved it. It can get hot and there is not much shade- bring a hat/water/sunscreen! read more

Really fun place to go to! We got there right when they opened (10:00am) and there was no other players there! The lady at the counter was very friendly and helped us get our golf clubs and balls. We played the castle course, which was 28 holes long. Technically, it is 27, since all the courses end with a slot machine that could give you a free game, but for some reason they call it a hole. The holes themselves are in pretty good conditions,. Occasionally, you'll get a ball stuck in one of the props, but no major problems. We come here probably once a year as my kids enjoy this mini golf place. I highly recommend the 28 hole course over the two 19 hole courses but all are good. There are many moving obstacles to make the courses interesting. The heavy winters must be brutal on the outdoor golf course but they do a really good job of maintaining the quality courses and the prices are reasonable. Fun! On our first visit we played the longer castle course. My kids loved it so much that we came back the next day to do the dinosaur course and play in the arcade inside as well. Five stars for fun. Miniature golf is a great way to spend an hour or so. A trip to Tahoe isn't complete without a game of miniature golf. This is a classic old course. The features are showing their age but it is fun to launch your golf ball through a volcano, avoid a monkey'a tail and putt through the legs of a brontosaurus. They have slopes close to the holes so you have to putt just right. There are 3 courses. 2 are 18 holes and the 3rd is 28. I think it is best to go after dinner when it is lighted up. read more

Decent mini golf place. Much better than the one by the movie theater and cheaper too. Cute themes and choice of three different courses. Get a discount the more holes you play. Something fun for the family when you're not in the water but much in need of repair and updating. FUN: Semi-challenging course which is good. You don't want it too hard for the kids. They have some tunnels and moving elements so that was fun. Many of the holes need repair on the concrete and the turf which is often uneven (and not on purpose as you expect). Lots of ants and a bee. I would definitely spray for ants. SERVICE: Awesome. The staff is super friendly and nice. Very helpful people. COST: Very reasonable. $9 for 18 holes is great. However we only gave it a three because of the disrepair. I would pay more for a well kept course free of bugs (relatively-it is outdoors after all). read more
