So much fun! We went on a Thursday evening around 6pm and I think it was a great time to go. There were a couple other parties but it wasn't packed. Staff was friendly and clear when instructing. We could not get the smallest axe to stick though! It looked like the other parties had the same issue too but the other two larger axes were fun and stuck well. Definitely a cool experience and great location.

This place was fantastic! They are very dog friendly - which is the only reason we were able to go. We got great tips on how to throw the axe. The dogs enjoyed the attention and occasional treat. Can't wait to come back!

We checked the reviews and couldn't resist coming here after seeing everyone rave about this place. It was our first time ever axe throwing and truly - I don't think we could have picked a better place!! It was clean, the staff was friendly, the axe bullseyes were pretty easy to throw at (meaning the axes were sticking into the wood). I have heard some places are more difficult than others as the axes tend to fall off or won't stick unless it's hit just the right way. Glad that wasn't our experience especially for our first time. We also heard the staff say that they use old trees that were previously cut down or fallen from fires and such. Which we thought was a really cool way to repurpose them!! Their training was great as they helped us a lot giving us pointers and advice to get better as our time went on. They have 3 different axe options depending on the handle size and weight you are looking for! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place!! Will be back many times if I go to Tahoe!!

The lady working said she has never seen this done.

Staff was super helpful and nice. The place was clean and in tiptop shape. My 8 yo and I had a blast throwing axes for the whole hour. Highly recommend!

Was recently up at South Shore for the day with my buddy, and we had the opportunity to head in and toss around a few woodworking implements. We'd both done axe throwing before at other spots, so a lot of our expectations were in measuring this place up to what we've done before. But the experience here at Yosemite really stood out and impressed us. Walking right in, it was a great sign to see many people already set up and having at it. The gentleman behind the desk was very polite and welcoming, and got us all situated with lanes, axes, and a rundown of the rules once we had signed the wavers. I think right at the start, what struck us most about this place is their use of actual rounds cut from actual tree trunks. Several of the other axe-throwing spots we've visited before often had targets built out of boards, or were lacking moisture in the wood, making them very difficult to get your axes to stick. Not so here. You get three different styles of axes to throw. And when they hit, they hit. And while we were focused on casually throwing the axes (and getting a decent arm workout in the process), you can certainly keep score, with chalk and score boards provided. What surprised us the most, though, was the price we paid. It was $30 per person when we went in, but that price got us a SOLID full hour. This really impressed my friend and I, since at other locations you may wind up with rather short sessions for the price you pay. So in a town as touristy as South Lake, I can really say this felt like a good activity to do if you're on the hunt for something novel to try out. Parking is relatively easy, since their lot is right next to their building. But as is the norm in Tahoe, things can get very busy and traffic insanely heavy, so watch out. It is also easy walking distance from both the Heavenly resort, and the Stateline casinos. As for availability; we were able to just walk in and sign up, but I did hear you can make reservations for time slots, too. We saw the place is kid-friendly for ages 8-and-up, so likely makes this a good spot for a family outing. There are a couple packaged snacks for sale, but no libations on offer, alas. And I got a good laugh at seeing the Lumberjack Games being broadcast on the TV by the counter, which goes perfectly well with the rest of the vibe they got going on. (Makes me wish I'd been wearing my Portland TImbers scarf.) All in all, I really had a great time at Yosemite. The fun times, good value, and very friendly service made it a great way to spend an hour or two. Definitely come test your chops, if you get a chance.

Never threw axes before so this was a first for us! Josh made the experience that much better! Friendly dude, gave us a few tips about local places to visit etc. It was a slow Saturday around 6pm, we had the place all to ourselves! Music was cool & to our surprise they served beer which I thought was awesome. Half of the beers they have are from a local brewery support small. Thanks Josh!

A great little space with around 10 stations for throwing axes. John does a great job corralling everyone, giving the safety briefing, and helping give some initial tips. There are a number of beers and non-alcoholic drinks available (which is kind of strange to combine alcohol with risk-of-death activities, but why not), and the axe throwing itself is fun and leisurely. My wife turns out to be quite good, and we had a great time. At $30/hr per person (pre-tip) it's a pretty reasonable price for a fun way to kill some time.

    Final throw of the session.

No frills axe throwing in South Lake Tahoe. First time I've thrown at what looks like a tree stump, and the axe seems to land and stick better than other places with cork or wood planks. Make a reservation and pay online before you show up. Be especially aware that when storms hit and the resorts are not fully open, people flock to indoor activities. We saw people turned away yesterday 12/27 when the big storm was here. I like that they don't serve food or alcohol here, as it would take away much needed space for axe throwing lanes. There's probably a dozen or so lanes of two or three people each, and 3 different sizes of axes to choose from. And to keep score, you use a small chalkboard. Again, no frills. That's how they probably keep the prices relatively low at $30 per person per hour. Would come back again sometime!

This is Keith. He was so helpful and made the Axe throwing experience more fun.

We had so much fun. New employee Keith was great! So helpful! All the staff is great! I forget the lady's name but her instruction saved me from constant goose eggs!!

Well I could never be an axe murderer because it's a lot of work. We had a staff retreat here and it was awesome. Be careful for when that axe boomerangs back, too. Those waivers are in place for a reason We had a cookie contest on site and the attendant was fine with it. Five glittering stars from us

Some nights start normal... and then turn into Viking training camps…read more We all met up at Limitless Axes & Ales in Stockton ready for some fun, but immediately hit a crossroads. Right next door was an escape room. Suddenly the group stood there staring at each other trying to decide between brains or brute force. Naturally, the most sophisticated decision-making system known to mankind was deployed... Rock. Paper. Scissors. Guys vs. girls. The battle was intense. Honor was on the line. Pride was at stake. The guys won axes... the ladies won the escape room. And judging by the fact that I'm writing this review about throwing axes... you already know who claimed victory. So in we went, channeling our inner Vikings. Beers were grabbed, shoulders loosened, and suddenly a group of adults began grunting and laughing like a tribe preparing for battle. Honestly... we probably shouldn't be left unsupervised. One thing that really stood out was the staff. The young man helping us was actually on the job training, but you wouldn't have known it by how well he handled everything. He did a great job, and his manager stayed right there beside him coaching and guiding him the whole time. It was honestly refreshing to see a manager taking pride in making sure her team was trained the right way. Then the throwing began. Axes flying, laughter echoing, friendly trash talk everywhere. It was one of those experiences where everyone relaxes, lets loose, and just enjoys the moment. The lanes were super clean and the whole place was immaculate. But believe it or not... the unexpected highlight of the night? The bathroom. The ladies came out laughing saying "come here!" Naturally we rushed over thinking something had gone wrong and we were about to save the day. Nope. There's a button in the bathroom that basically dares you to press it... something like "what's the worst that could happen?" You press it and suddenly music starts blasting and a light show kicks off like you're in a tiny bathroom nightclub. Absolutely hilarious. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the entire experience was professional, clean, fun, and full of great energy. Limitless Axes & Ales absolutely nailed it. And if you go... don't skip the bathroom button. Trust me.

I could not get my axe to hit the board and one of the staff came over and was so so patient and I finally got it! I had a lot of fun even though I personally suck lol. Shout out to the wonderful workers though!
