It was cute to see all the babies next to their mothers lining up on top of the hill. During the show, each mother and baby are lead into the arena and brought around the ring. The baby usually then go off any play with other babies. So cute! The show is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. What was really cool is that the babys are born a dark color and then turn white as they grow older. I had a great time and would love to come back to see the other events the place has.

It's near Gurnee and could easily be combined with a visit there or the Gold Pyramid House (which you'll drive right by). If you love horses or have children who do, you really must go. I'm not a big horse person, but I like history and for Goldstar/Groupon prices it was worth it. If you buy online, get your ticket scanned at the ticket booth and get a program. Plan your visit realizing that the stables are open only after the show, and that the sanitary facilities are Port-a-Potties. Food is available onsite, though there are no vegetarian options. Unless you have special tickets or are handicapped; you'll be sitting in covered bleachers. To pick your seat, come early and note which way the shadows fall if you want to sit in shade. Closed-toe shoes are recommended; pathways are gravel and the stables are partially floored with fine soil/sand. The 90 minute show is two halves of four numbers each, with narration and piped-in classical music. There's a 15 minute intermission, during which you can buy a sandwich, use the bathroom, and look through souvenirs in the food/souvenir tent. To start, four liveried riders ride in, doff their hats (take this photo, either now or at the end, depending on where you sit), and then you're treated to a parade of mares and foals; horses pulling a carriage; and gradually-more-trained stallions. Some of the numbers go a little long (there are only so many ways to ride a horse across a short football field) - everything is symmetrical and they want to be sure everyone in the audience sees all the tricks. After the show they open the stable doors for the "tour"; go right. 10 minutes after the show they'll let you in where the horses are; while waiting, you can look at historical photos on the stable walls. Peek at the horses in their stalls; and, on either end, talk with a rider and even pet their horse (head right again if all you want is to pet a horse as soon as possible). The majority of the stalls (and a bathroom!) are on the left; on the east (non-field) side of the stadium is an official photo station where you can take a selfie with a horse and rider. (No charge.) Altogether, a pleasant afternoon.

There were a variety of decent size apples. It was well worth the drive for me. The staff was very helpful and cheerful. As I was driving along the roads. I drove passed larger apple pickings. But I was happy and impressed with my decision to come here. It was easy to get inside pick your apples and head home. There is also a kiosk stand for you to purchase some tasty goodies. Decent prices. The apple cider donuts were amazing. I really enjoyed my visit.

But, if I'm here when Edwards is open, I have to come back and have cider donuts. And today, I was lucky enough to eat one. You should definitely visit if you find yourself in Northern Illinois in the fall. There's no other place like it.

My group and I walked through their market first where they have numerous samples to try. There are plenty of options to choose from and it was hard to keep our tab at a reasonable price, haha. My husband and I purchased the fiesta dip, cheese curds, apple cider donuts and the cheese and caramel popcorn. Next our group went apple picking. Prices are pretty standard compared to other spots, they do have a $5 deposit if you are borrowing a basket. If you are able to bring a basket of your own, I highly recommend that. To get to the apple orchard you take a short 'hay ride' which I really enjoyed. It was nice to see different areas of the farm. Staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. I'm officially a fan girl of Edwards and am looking forward to many more apple picking adventures here in the future!

I was shocked to find out that most orchards these days charge a minimum of $10 per person to enter the orchard . This gets real expensive for a quick stop for a family of 6. I found this orchard that has no fees other than the weight of your apples at $1.20 per pound. There were plenty of apples to pick and I like the assortment of sizes of the apples. There were many that were small/snack size and delicious. These are perfect for families with young kids. I hate when my kids grab an apple out of the fridge and declare they are SO FULL 3 bites later. These are great size to not be wasteful . They also fit well in lunch boxes as well as with limited school lunch time to eat. Trees were clearly marked with what kind of apple and a description of the apple taste . Im a huge fan , we will be back . I just wish they sold donuts :)

Pay attention to posted hours. The owner was very nice and accommodating. We took Loomis all the way out and had no trouble finding it. It's a five dollar entrance per person and a dollar a flower. We brought our own sheers but they have some there too. They had a cute stand with a pay box if no one is there. We were able to walk around and enjoy the flowers. This was so relaxing and we got awesome photos.
