I was parked almost in front of it. The therapist, or what ever they call themselves, came outside and appeared to be a nice lady, but boy was I wrong! Once she went inside & I got done talking to a friend on the phone, I went & knocked on the door (because it was locked). She answered the door & asked me how she could help me. I told her that I wanted to ask her about treatments & prices. She looked as if she didn't even want to talk to me. She only cracked the door open a few inches & hid behind the door & told me that she only treats women. To which I replied "if you were to look at my drivers license you would realize that the sex marker is F for female. You shouldn't judge people by their look," & walked away. I understand that I'm not the most feminine looking person out there & I'm a bit more on the male side. The result of a medical treatment with male hormones when I was 15 years old that went on for several years. If she does only work of females or female looking people, it would be helpful if she should put a sign outside that says so. That way men won't waste their time going in there. Her Facebook page makes no reference of this either. The funny thing is that even though I have been considering going to such a place for a while for myself, the reason I thought about going there was because the thought occurred to me that xmas is coming & I have three good female friends I need to give gifts to (you guys know who you are when you read this) & I wanted to ask about gift ideas & about gift certificates. In particular I was thinking about facials. I understand about a guy getting bikini wax or Brazilian wax, but does she dislikes men so much that she won't even do a facial on a man? Wow! Luckily there are a lot more places along Ventura blvd that do treat women or men, or anyone who falls somewhere in the middle due to DSD (Disorders of Sex Development), formally known as Intersex. I really doubt that my sex or gender was the only problem. Her whole demeanor said that it was also about other issues. Quite often people have problems with transsexual people & she might be transphobic or homophobic. Even though I'm not a transsexual some ignorant people confuse me for one. But intersex people & transsexual people are very different. Transsexual people are born with "normal" bodies but they don't identify with the sex they were born with. Intersex people are born with a disorder ("abnormality)" which can be genetical or physical or both. I have a feeling that it was a mixture of all that plus race combined. Isn't it something that there are extremely ignorant people out there who are quick to let you know that in their eyes you are nothing else but a scary freak? Hmm, I wonder if she would treat a female but very butch lesbian? I have a friend who is a bodybuilder & a butch lesbian & she quite often gets confused for a guy. Her voice is actually deeper than mine. I'm a registered NREMT, LA & Kern Counties & CA registered Paramedic. I would love to see the look on this lady's face if one day she dials 911 for an ambulance & I showed up. Her facial expression would probably be one of those Kodak moments. That would make my day. Haha! Would she turn me away? Would she tell me that she only wants to be helped by female Paramedics? It must be nice to have the choice to pick & chose your clients, I don't that luxury nor do I care for it. When I show up in my rig (ambulance) I treat everyone the same regardless of sex or gender (there is a difference between sex & gender), race, age, looks, social class, or economic status. I've risked my life to help others & I've never treated anyone with prejudice.o Incidentally, I parked down the road on Ventura Blvd under a shade to wait for a friend. I looked across the street & there was another place called BB Wax & Aesthetique. I went in there & Yana (the aesthetician) did not have a problem with me what so ever. I walked in there & she gave me a big smile & said hello to me. A few minutes later she took me to the back room to examine me. We then went to the front counter & we spent about 45 minutes chitchatting about my experience with DSD & hormones treatments. People are always fascinated with my story & everything I've been though in my life. Many have suggested that I should find a movie writer to write my story & turn it into a movie. The only reason we stopped is because a client came in. Ironically a male client. What a contrast between a her & the other lady. Day & night difference! It actually saddens me that there are people so narrow minded that they judge others so easily. Instead of feeling anger toward this lady, I feel sorry for her. It must be sad to go through life living life the way she does. I wish her luck & may God help her open her eyes.
