    American Granite & Marble

    American Granite & Marble

Overdue review for marble kitchen counters and island installed in May 2014. The marble itself…read morewas beautiful. However, the marble backsplash was NOT even close to parallel to wall. Their offer to "fix" it included a couple of teenagers sloppily squirting caulk into uneven gap, which collapsed within 45 minutes after they left. I ended up inserting pieces of wood into gap to support caulk and caulked it myself. This looks okay, but the gap goes from flush with wall on one end of kitchen counter to a full half inch or more gap on the far corner. American Granite assured me this was not their fault, it was because "my wall was crooked." Ummm, okay, maybe this is true but not obvious to naked eye. Even if true, after speaking to other experts in field my gut instinct that this was horrible excuse was confirmed. Original countertop WAS flush with wall, so seems something that should have been taken into account during measurements. I am very trusting and busy person, so made mistake of paying in full up front. Because of this, their management had no incentive to ensure my satisfaction and frankly did not seem to give a s*** about how horrible it looked and how condescending their excuse was. The clearly thought I was an idiot. Not a general contractor, but I am quite intelligent. Only reason I did not take this to court was because not worth time or energy to me just to make a point out of principle. My recourse is telling my story. I have NOTHING to gain, not in granite business and gave up on AGM doing anything to make this right over a year ago. I work in pharmaceutical industry. I have no one else to specifically recommend. I will again say granite itself was beautiful, so may be good source of granite if you can get someone else to make measurements and install. The installation will be done by young men of questionable skills, not the business owner or manager (Mark) who you first meet with. Mark shook my hand, looked me in the eye, and promised the work would be top notch regardless of whether I paid upfront to save myself a trip or held 50% final payment. Mark seemed like great guy until after work was done and his check cleared. I also understand they have many great reviews--which is why I hired them. Just don't pay in full up front, because once Mark is paid he couldn't care less about your satisfaction (actions speak louder than words). Maybe if you threaten legal action, but I did not. Martin Construction - Broken main line to irrigation system

Beware of Mark Martin! In the last year I have paid him more than $30,000.00 for what turned out to…read morebe shotty incomplete work and damages to my home and property. Mark installed a new roof, amd repaired and expanded our driveway. His work has left us with a stained ceiling, damaged gutter guards, and a destroyed irrigation system. His refusal to address the issues has left me having to foot the bill for repairs. Portions of the new driveway will have to be removed just to hopefully save part of the irrigation system but other parts will never be able to be repaired. Our dream home has been irreparably damaged and Mark refuses to do anything about it. He is a great salesman, but a shyster of a contractor.

Neighbors hired this company to build their fence. On the first day of construction, Martin…read moreConstruction cut my internet line while digging. Because I work from home, "inconvenience" doesn't even describe how put out I was for several days. Mind you, the ground was spray painted on the ground where lines were. They claimed that where they dug was "the safe zone", but whatever...I don't build fences for a living and I honestly don't care about any of that. What really pissed me off was that when I reached out to them regarding the entire situation, no one bothered returning my calls. They told our neighbor that they (Martin Construction) had reached out to the internet company to come out and repair the line. Really...? That's funny...because The internet company received no other inquiries other than from myself regarding a necessary repair. And after several days of having to work from my damn cell phone, I reached out again...this time to update them that the line had to be completely replaced (because it was unrepairable) and to let them know that the new line would be exposed for some weeks before it would be buried so if/when they came back to finish the job they barely started, they would know to be mindful of it. But still...no one has called me back. I get it...I'm not your customer. I'm not the one putting a check in your pocket so why call me back, right!? Yes, it was an accident. Yes, you apologized. But your accident was the massive inconvenience to my ability to do my job. And your apology didn't fix the problem that, accident or not, was your fault. There is something called courtesy...and it's clear that your company has zero seeing as how you cannot even return a phone call. If ever someone mentions the need to have a fence built, my only goal will be to make sure that they do not hire you.

We had the pool liner replaced by a company other than LinerLux shortly after we moved into our new…read morehome. After the installation was complete, it had a fairly significant leak and the installer had never cut out the main drain opening. This pool contractor would not return our calls, so we reached out to LinerLux based open a recommendation from our real estate agent. David seemed to know what he was doing and, while he was significantly higher than other quotes, he had a good warranty and we trusted our real estate agent's judgement. Everything seemed to go well during installation and David was here every day overseeing things (this will come into play later). When the installation was complete, we were initially satisfied. Approximately a month later, a couple of wrinkles developed in the pool. We called David and he came out and looked at it. He said our liner was "floating" because of a ground water problem. He said that the drain for ground water was in the wrong place - it should be in the deep end, not the shallow end. Now remember, he was on site during installation and not once did he say anything about ground water, drain location, etc. Had he informed us at that time, we would have paid to have the problem corrected if that even is the problem. I believe the wrinkles are caused by a faulty installation. The pool liner that was with the house when we originally purchased it had the same ground water scenario, but it was wrinkle free. The first replacement liner we had installed that leaked had the same ground water (and actually had more water underneath it since it was leaking) and had no wrinkles either. We called David about a month ago because the wrinkles are multiplying and getting worse. He was very dismissive of our concerns and has not come by to look at the problem. I would not recommend LinerLux to anyone.

Since LinerLux, Inc. and David Reed have replaced my pool liner TWICE since I have had my pool, I…read morewanted to give them a big THUMBS UP on the job that they do. My pool is now 25 years old. In my experience the vinyl liners last about 8-9 years before they bleach out from the sun or just begin to get brittle due to chemicals. In any event, David Reed at LinerLux has replaced my liner twice and has done a great job. He has plenty of high quality liner designs and colors to choose from. David is a very detailed person and he measures your pool with the latest equipment. For me, that is VERY important since I have a kidney shaped pool. When they replace your liner, they do repairs on the vermiculite which is the foundation of your pool under the vinyl. They replace ALL gaskets, skimmer face plates, light gaskets, step seals, etc. They make sure that the TRACK around your pool in to which the vinyl liner is secured, is in good shape and make repairs as necessary. Generally, it only takes them a day or two to have everything finished. They cut up your old liner and take it to the curb for trash collection if that's what you desire. Finally, I have NEVER had a problem with the two liners that David has installed for me. He has a great warranty, but I have not had to use it. The price that he charges for a complete vinyl liner removal and installation is very competitive with other companies. He does not overcharge or add charges. What you agree to up front is what you pay. I also bought a custom made safety cover from David in the Fall of 2000. It lasted for 17 years!!! Although I did not purchase my last safety cover from David, He was kind enough to provide the original measurements to me so that I could get estimates from several companies. In conclusion, I highly recommend LinerLux and David Reed to replace your pool's vinyl liner. And, YES, I am on his mailing list. I think I might get two pieces of mail from him each year. One in the Spring and another in the fall. I don't mind it at all !!!! :)
