I have loved my weekly time at the ranch. The ranch offers an incredible range of experiences--professional counseling services, traditional horse riding lessons, adaptive riding for individuals with special needs, and so many meaningful ways to volunteer. Whether you're working one-on-one with a special needs rider, painting fences, gardening, cleaning horse stalls, or helping behind the scenes, there is truly a place for every person and every ability level. The property itself is peaceful and welcoming. Home to 16 beautiful horses, a charming barnyard with the cutest goats, and a freshly stocked pond where counseling clients can fish during talk therapy sessions, the ranch blends nature and healing seamlessly. The open pastures, quiet trails, and natural spaces create an environment that encourages connection, reflection, and growth. For families and schools, their educational field trips are thoughtfully designed and aligned with North Carolina state education standards, making them both fun and academically meaningful. Students learn through hands-on experiences with animals, agriculture, and nature while meeting grade-appropriate learning objectives--something that truly sets this ranch apart. What makes Bit of Hope Ranch so special isn't just what they offer, but how they offer it. Every client, volunteer, student, and visitor is met with kindness, respect, and genuine care. Whether you're seeking therapy, riding lessons, a unique educational experience, or a way to give back, this ranch creates a space where people feel valued and supported. If you're looking for a place that changes lives--both human and horse--Bit of Hope Ranch is truly something special.

The views from the arena are a stunning backdrop for any bride and groom wanting have an outdoor ceremony. Inside the barn there are three defined spaces. The foyer with its high ceilings and comfy furniture welcoming you inside. This is also where the restrooms are located. They have two newly constructed restrooms with multiple stalls in addition to the two original ones. The venue provides tables and chairs and table coverings for your event. There's a built in rustic bar in the corner of the main event space where clients can have a hired bartender serving drinks of their choice. The facilities are set up for a catering company to bring in the food of the clients choice or your band/DJ to unload easily with large rolling door access on either end of the barn. I visited in February so the trees were bare but I can only imagine how gorgeous the space looks in the spring, summer and fall. We were told they host smaller meetings there being able to block off spaces for a more intimate feel or can seat up to 1500 utilizing the whole space.

The folks that own it are fantastic people. I've met them a few times and can't wait to get to know them better. You ca grab a cold one, a glass of wine, concession munchies. Just has this wonderful feel to it when you walk in. I'm taking energy here. Even when I walk past it when we walk the street during the day and she's closed...I feel good. Wish they were hiring lol I'd love to work there.

Our first visit to the Sylvia was thanks to a promotion another local business was running (803 Industries a resale/consignment shop a few doors down that I've also fallen in love with). They rented the theater for a free private movie showing for their customers (how awesome is that). After the showing I realized what we had been missing. Yes it is a small single screen theater, but there is so much to love. Right in the heart of charming historic downtown, a building with so much history, current movies and very reasonable prices, they serve beer and wine (bonus), they have concerts both local and national acts. I don't have to drive 30 mins to Rock Hill and I love to sit upstairs in the balcony. I've been back twice now, once for a concert and once to see Star Wars a second time with my daughter. Our tickets and a combo with popcorn, 2 drinks and 2 candies for just $22 what! If you haven't been its worth a visit!

Wedding Day: My bridesmaids were placed in the Bridal Suite---lots of space to move around. The guys got ready downstairs in the mens locker room. Around 11am, I ordered a small lunch for my girls: Small tea sandwiches, mimosas and fruit....There was enough food for eleven people. I only had five mimosas brought in. Unfortunately, it rained during our ceremony. In case of inclement weather your event will be moved indoors....I was so overwhelmed, I couldn't breath!! I made the foolish decision to move forward and go outside.....WORST DECISION EVER!!! I wish someone would've shook me! We finally moved inside and continued the ceremony...Everything was wonderful!!! Food: We attended a Food tasting in March 15' it was PERFECTION..There were several other couples there. My fiance is allergic to shellfish. I asked if we could substitute the crab (when we finalize our menu)..IMMEDIATLY Several people rushed to our table, First the Chef, followed by several other staff members. Now that's amazing service! Our guest loved the menu we selected!! Our Cocktail Menu: Shrimp & Cucumber with Dill Cream Cheese Cheese Steak Eggrolls w/Spicy Ketchup Buffet Dinner Menu: House Salad w/Ranch & Herb Vinaigrette Italian Herb Crusted Chicken w/Tomato, Artichoke and Kalamata Olive Ragout Butternut Squash Risotto w/Peas & Asparagus Italian Roasted Mushrooms & Vegetables Beverages: We served Beer $150 worth. 2 Gallons of White Sangria, 25 Wine Bottles, one to two bottles on each table. White Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Pinot Grigio. We also served Champagne during the toast. Here's a few tips: Have signage for your guest!! or assign someone to direct!!! Our guest have never been here, I heard several complaints about people roaming around. Lost...The people we hired only directed a small number of guest. The Bridal Suite: This is located across from the women's restroom. I would ask about adding signage so people wont barge in. This happened several times. Overall, We had a great Experience at The Palisades! Thank you to Bethany and her amazing staff for making our Wedding Magical! We will return again one day!
