She greeted us with a nice big hug. It felt like I was visiting my grandmother's house. She made sure we felt relaxed, taken care of, and just at home. She is there for all of your needs. The property doesn't look big from the outside but it is enormous. We stayed in the King Suite and it was very comfortable. The bathroom is huge and has a jacuzzi tub in it. The backyard has a lot of space for relaxation. She has games such as miniput, table tennis, and an inground pool. There are tons or chairs, swings and a cabana to relax outside at. The best part of course is the 3 course home made breakfast she makes every morning. It starts out with fresh fruit with yogurt, tea or coffee, water, and a smoothie. Then the main entrée, we had Creole Mahi-Mahi over yellow grits with eggs, croissant, and a salad. It ended off with a rum bread pudding. It was a wonderful staycation, I'll be back to stay and also just to visit Cheryl.

The house was decorated with a mix of modern and antique and there was a Butler's Pantry with a mini fridge coffee air fryer electric tea kettle and absolutely all the fixings you could want. The gardens were gorgeous and I lost count of the different places you could sit. Breakfast we had a choice of bacon eggs grits or cinnamon white chocolate chip pancakes with sausage. If you are in a couple or if you are single and need a night away this is the place! I definitely plan to go back. I may go alone for a retreat! The owner is very personable and well organized.

Now, on to the actual wedding details- From day one, Lynn made the wedding planning process an absolute breeze. The service she provided was impeccable and the experience is unforgettable. Whether you have Pinterest board filled with a detailed vision or you're unprepared more of a laid back bride, Lynn will walk you through every step and make your day PERFECT. My fiancé and I opted to purchase the Fairytale Package. With that package, a lot of the hard part of the wedding planning is taking off of your plate. You get a choice of a few caterers, a few florists, a few DJs, etc... all the sourcing of the vendors is already done for you! All of the vendors that Lynn has on this list are top notch professionals. There is a Bridal Suite & Grooms Suite that made the getting ready process a blast - just show up, pour some champagne, and enjoy your last few hours with your girls (or guys!) before you're married! Having the Bridal Suite with full kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom allowed us to get comfy and spend the morning getting our hair & makeup done without having to worry about transportation or timelines. I would highly recommend using Polished Event Design & Fine Decor Rental (Lynn's other company) to help add even more beauty to your special day. From the chargers, to the candles, to the centerpieces - Polished has something for everyone's taste! I would not change a single thing about our wedding experience with The Hotel Concord. The server said they forgot to renew it so they only had beer and wine. I would imagine they got in trouble and lost their liquor license. We didn't end up staying since we were disappointed they didn't have liquor and no rooftop bar existed. (The website should be updated as well to include no rooftop bar existed/ we even told the staff we were going to the rooftop bar and they didn't say they didn't have one) The menu was extremely limited as well but the staff were very nice and apologized. It was very disappointing, not flavorful like I expected and grits were very runny. But the ones who were able to get the chicken dip raved abt it so I definitely want to go back and try it out.

Charming, lovely, ideally located, and welcoming…read more Sort of a cross between a B&B and a hotel, the Inn has lovely and reasonably priced and appointed rooms, a continental breakfast, and an ideal location for anyone visiting idyllic Davidson or idyllic Davidson College. Wines by the glass and by the bottle available in the lobby, which made for a great place to mingle with other guests. Most importantly, the team there were absolutely wonderful. Joy, who is lauded in other reviews, made a point to learn all the guests' names and was a friendly, accommodating, and fabulous resource. Her warmth was, to us, representative what we experienced throughout the town and the College...and is a reason to come back repeatedly. Only beef is a little bit of room to room noise and squeaky floors and the lack of a fitness facility. For the latter, they offer discounted passes to the local Y, and great suggestions in where to walk or run. I almost hesitate to recommend it ...because we don't want it to be sold out in our next visit. Can't be that selfish though. Great spot (and the only real inn or hotel that is right in town).

We took the cooking class (extra charge) with chef Marti on Sunday, and we made Scottish cottage pie, which was delicious. You not only get to cook, but chef Marti provides background information regarding Scotland. (Map, history, a couple short videos of movies about Scotland, regional dishes to Scotland, etc.) Chef Marti involves everyone in the cooking process. Once our cottage pie had baked in the oven, we sat around the kitchen table and had a bowl of pie, and a salad and bread. (Drinks also) Breakfast was served each morning at 9am, and was very good. Fresh fruit each morning, and yesterday we had oatmeal with apples, bacon, baked egg dish with red peppers, skillet potatoes with homemade ketchup, and really good toast made from some type of French bread. I added some strawberry jam on top, and it was delicious. Today we had homemade sausage with fennel, skillet potatoes, cream of wheat with cranberries, and croissant French toast. There were only 4 of us at breakfast, so there was a lot of food for everyone. I was stuffed...it was so good. Chef Marti, and his helper (Kim) go above and beyond, to make sure you have what you need. Relaxing on the front porch rockers was very nice each evening.
