When I walked in I was asked if I needed to use the restroom and then someone had walked into the restroom so I was told to sit down in the front. In the package it says to arrive 30 minutes early to enjoy mimosas and sweet treats. I did not get taken back to the relaxation room until I stood up and said something. They were too busy chit chatting than worrying about their customer. Finally I was taken back to the relaxation room about 10 minutes before my massage. When I walked in I was shocked they had camper chair for us to sit in, in a so called "relaxation" room. I literally had to chug down my drink and sweet treats before my massage. Finally the massage. ABSOLUTE worst massage I've ever received. The lady spent more time putting the mint oil infront of my nose than actually massage my neck and shoulders, which was literally suffocating. I was also told that hot stone would be included. I had maybe 5 minutes of hot stone on my back and then another 5 minutes of her massaging my back. I'm carrying around a newborn and toddler all day so that was extremely upsetting. My husband booked this massage as a postpartum gift since I just went through an emergency c section and he just wanted me to have a day of relaxation. I left there extremely upset and frustrated instead of feeling good. I ended up leaving a review that night which I've never left a review in my life. And then they replied and was told in the reply if I was open to it they'd like to discuss this further. I called the spa 3 times and the first time I called I was told I would probably just get a refund and that I would be getting a call back. Every other time I called I was given the runaround and told I would be getting a call back. Finally this morning I called and spoke with the owner. The owner was not nice at all and told me because I left a review she will not be giving me any type of compensation. She literally said that because I left a review for the public to see she will not be helping me. I didn't know that I wasn't entitled to leave a review of my experience and because I did I will not be helped. Absolute insanity. Worst customer service and WORST "spa" I've ever been to. Stay away from this horrid place.

I cannot give enough praise to Laura and her incredible staff at Magnolia Jane. I initially met Laura several years ago when I first moved to Emerald Isle and she was at another salon. I followed her when she opened her own business. Laura and her staff are not only talented but they always greet you with a huge smile and make you feel at home. When you sit in a chair you feel like you are hanging with your best friend. Something else that is important to me is that I know Laura not only takes care of her clients, but she is actively involved with the local community. She gives back and is involved with many events that support charities and advocates to help New Bern grow and flourish. When you come here it is obvious it is a business born from the passion of a beautiful woman and she picks the best people to help her. I moved to this area over a year ago and when I needed to find a stylist, everyone recommended Laura McGovern of Magnolia Jane Salon. I went to my appointment and Laura was amazing. Her salon was gorgeous and she was a great person. I have also had Laura Lane do my hair as well and she was fabulous. I have been satisfied every time I get my hair done by the ladies of Magnolia Jane and will not go anywhere else. I also love the fact that Laura McGovern is a huge supporter for our military as seen when she collects gowns for Operations Ball Gown Giveaway and has supported the Enlisted Spouses Club of Cherry Point. Laura is an amazing stylist and has the best advice to give if you're looking for a new style or a solution to unruly hair. She and the entire staff are very knowledgeable on new trends and offer the best customer service I've ever experienced. They offer so many staple services, I wish I didn't move to Atlanta because I can't imagine going anywhere else! The salon is immaculate! This adorable salon is located in quaint downtown New Bern. The salon is trendy, clean, and I have always been greeted with a friendly face every time I enter. I've been going here for about a year now and see the stylist, Ann Lane. Ann is awesome! She is very professional and thoroughly listens to my preferences but then also gives me her professional advice. Love this place!! Laura McGovern is a miracle worker! I always bring a photo of the style I want. Laura always nails it and exceeds my expectations! The salon is beautiful. Laura McGovern is amazing!! She did my hair, 6 of my bridesmaids, and the mother of the brides hair. They all looked AMAZING and stayed in all night long. Laura was able to complete everyones hair very timely. We got ready at my house and Laura was a great addition to the morning. Emily did a couple of the girls make up and she is awesome as well. Myself and my 2 bridesmaids as well as my mother-in-law went to MJS for hair and makeup. Between my trial-run and the wedding day, my sister has gone to their salon twice on my recommendation, my grandmother has gotten "the best haircut ever" and I went to get highlights. She straightened my hair but when it was time to cut, i was asked to stand for the hair cut... which iv never been asked to do before. Another older women was getting her hair done and she even asked why i was standing? the owner walked by and said because i have long hair ( it was middle of my back.) Day after the cut ic after i straighten it, its uneven. Yup i wont be back... so done and $30 for the cut... nope. Not worth the money. My stylist wasn't talkative and she would ask me questions for small chit chat but it would end when i answered the question. Blah. Older post: They do a great job at taking appointments and checking to see if your still coming. However the last 2 times i got my hair done i left with neck pain that lasted for weeks. They pull my hair too rough while in the sink. I dont think i will be back because they are too rough.

As she started to cut my hair, I asked again, if perhaps her the other stylist shouldn't be consulted. She said no she could handle it. The results: I am either going to have to wear scarfs/hats or get a wig. She said she only cut a half and inch, but my hair has no style. I have never had such a bad haircut in my entire life. She should not be allowed to cut and style hair. How she ever got licensed is beyond my comprehension.

All 10 of us were at the salon for 3 hours - they were fast and incredible! Nancy and Jannette, another stylist, made us look totally beautiful. They were relaxed, sweet, and listened to what we wanted. They were so easy going - coffee was self serve, we roamed the studio - no stress whatsoever. Kim, the nail tech, was amazing. I wish I could have taken her back to Boston! The ladies at Studio 55 are fantastic. I am so lucky to have had such wonderful women beautify me on my wedding day!
