I had a cut with Norah, who I would not recommend. She tried to cut my hair and basically charged me 48.00 to nick my hair. She was polite and had me come back to "cut" my hair. What a huge mistake..uneven and cut my left side and didn't match the right side of my hair. My apologies, but she did an absolutely horrible job with my hair. I would never let her near my hair again. Had to travel back to Maryland for a real experienced styles to fix her mistakes...sorry, never again. read more

I'm delighted with my hair. I am a NEW, New Bernian in search of a new hair salon and stylist. After my online hair consultation, and a conversation with Jenna their Client Coordinator I was assigned to Chelsea, their Junior Stylist. I arrived about 10 minutes before about my appointment and was able to park right in front of the salon. I was greeted warmly by Jenna upon arrival when I checked in. My hair was in pretty rough shape, and Chelsea and I discussed what I requested ( at length) and gave me her recommendations as soon as I sat in her chair. What a lovely young lady she is. She did a remarkable job considering what she had to work with ( I had not done my hair for almost a full year). She is polite, professional, kind l, patient and competent. I will be back in July and look forward to building a relationship with her as my new stylist and Magnolia Jane as my new salon. read more

I was about 6 months past the point where you say "I can't go another day without a haircut" when I searched Yelp for a safe option for a haircut. Lucky me, Magnolia was already five stars AND they had clearly listed their Covid protocol on Yelp and their website. Even then, there was a reason why I let my hair get to the point where it only belonged in a bun- so I called to question them further. They were so friendly and calming from the second they picked up the phone, to when I walked out of the salon. There was only myself and one other client in the studio when I was there. They checked my temperature and had hand sanitizer everywhere. Everyone was wearing masks, the door was open to let fresh air in. I left feeling lighter, minus 3 inches- but my wallet still felt pretty heavy because the price was as reasonable as they come. read more

I honestly haven't been able to get a good haircut in this town until I went to Magnolia Jane Salon. I usually waited until I traveled to get a haircut. I haven't traveled in a while, so my hair went from too long to ridiculously too long. Thankfully, a spot opened up and Lianna did a masterful job of taking the crazy mop on my head and turning it into not just exactly what I wanted, but better than expected! To know me, you know that my hair means a great deal to me and to find someone who will take special care of my tresses is a feat in itself as I have been burned many times. I recently moved to Beaufort and having previously gone to an Aveda salon, I had a difficult time finding one Down East. I went a few months box dying my hair (I know, I know) and just when I thought I'd have to trek back to Raleigh for hair services, I found Magnolia Jane Salon on Instagram. My hair was damaged to say the least, and in desperate need of loving. I went to see Lauren for a consult and showed her some pics of a change I was thinking about and she told me what she could do and reassured me that all was going to be ok. Next was the appointment, it was with Holly. She and Lauren went over the notes from our consult and she began to help me with my transition. Holly was ah-mazing and explained everything along the way, asking me lots of questions about my thoughts and how I would like to care for my hair, would I style it, wear it up or down, etc. Once she was finished, I felt like a new woman! Went in yesterday for a haircut with Alyssa and am very pleased!! The environment was very calm and relaxed but not snobby like some salons. When I first arrived the gal at the front desk offered me a drink which I thought was a nice touch. Alyssa was very attentive to what it was I wanted and I absolutely love my new hair style! We moved to New Bern from Chicago 6 months and two really bad haircuts ago , 5 if you count my husband. I had just about given hope until a friend recommended Caslyn at Magnolia Janes. My hair is not really that difficult to cut but it definitely needs to be styled, as does my husband's and the previous cuts were bad enough that we were scared to try someone new. However, we were looking pretty shaggy and he has a business meeting this week so we bit the bullet and made an appointment at Magnolia Janes for me followed by my husband. What a difference from the minute we walked in the door. We were greeted by name the minute we walked in and noted, to our delight, that the salon was immaculate and so attractive inside. Caslyn listened (really listened) to what both of us wanted in styling and cuts, explained the products that she was using and recommended some that I might like to try. But best of all she gave us really great haircuts. Really great! We went to a party that night and at least ten people complimented me on my hair. The MJS blowout by Laura is AMAZING!!!! I have very thick unruly hair and Laura is the only stylist who can blow dry it super smooth and not have to use a flat iron on my hair. Not only is the blowout amazing the ladies are up to date on the latest styles and trends and do an amazing job of listening to their clients and providing awesome service with a smile. My regular hairdresser left at the new year, so I made an appointment with another hairdresser there. I was late to my appointment, she said she couldn't cut my hair because I was 15 minutes late she said in a lecturing tone. I have never in my life come across a hairdresser with this kind of snotty attitude. She wanted to reschedule and when I said no, she complained that it was her time. It could have good use of her time if she had just cut my short! hair. This is a early 30's woman with a ring in her nose, so on reflection, I wouldn't have wanted her to cut my hair anyway. I used the lovely ladies at Magnolia Jane for my wedding day. The owner - Laura was very accommodating throughout the entire process, which I needed, since I am from Chicago and had very few visits to NC to get everything planned. They were able to fit me in for my trial hair and makeup on one of my visits in early January. For my wedding day, they came to me and my bridal party in Atlantic Beach. My makeup artist was Emilee. I had airbrush and lashes placed. Emilee was great, very calm, and kept me cool throughout the wedding day with friendly words of encouragement. My makeup lasted all day and night. I was too busy enjoying myself to remember to touch up my makeup through the evening, but my makeup still looks great in my exit photos. Laura F did my hair. It was PHENOMENAL! It looked amazing all day and night, even with a breezy beach ceremony. I couldn't be happier! I had a bridal party of 6 + my mother-in-law. Emilee and Laura F. managed to finish everyone's hair and makeup, with two unplanned ladies for makeup in our 4 hour time frame. They were professional and friendly. Highly recommended!
